We booked Andrea Abel in Fall 2019 for wedding coordination services for our Summer 2020 wedding. We met once with her in person for a venue walk-through, then COVID shut things down and we had to reschedule our wedding. Initially, Andrea was good about communicating with us, and assured us she'd be available on our new 2021 date. She said that the services we'd already paid for would just transfer to the new date. However, Andrea kept saying she was waiting on an attorney to help her draft an addendum to our 2020 contract for the new 2021 date. We reached out periodically to check on the availability of the addendum and each time she'd say no update. (In comparison, we had already signed addendums with all of our other wedding vendors within 2 weeks of setting the new date.) Literally 15 months went by and there was no addendum or update from Andrea. Sadly, by the time our rescheduled Summer 2021 wedding date arrived, Andrea had completely stopped responding to **all forms** of communication. We tried all the previous ways of getting in contact with her, including calling her cell, leaving voicemail, texting her, emailing her, and messaging her on her client portal (HoneyBook). Complete radio silence. Andrea ghosted us, took our deposit, and left us without wedding coordination services. Initially we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt; perhaps she had fallen ill with Covid, or some calamity had befallen her, such that she was completely unable to respond to her clients in any way? But we saw she's been posting new updates on her Instagram page, so she's definitely alive and able to communicate! To this date as we write this review, we have had no response from her, not even an apology or excuse for her completely dropping the ball on all forms of communication. Thankfully, we proceeded with our wedding with the help of family and friends. But, given our awful experience with Andrea, we feel compelled to warn others. We are extremely disappointed with the dishonesty and lack of professionalism from Andrea Abel and do not recommend her at all. read more

Before I signed the contract for our wedding venue, I noticed there was a clause that required an independent wedding coordinator. Cue the "looks like we have to spend money on yet another vendor" eye roll. I know, I feel you... but hear me out. Fast forward to now, 60-ish days post wedding day, and I can confidently say that I didn't just need a coordinator, I WANTED a coordinator. More specifically, I wanted Andrea and her team at Events by Abel. Despite the fact that we hired her for day of coordination, this woman went above and beyond, and made sure I was on track and comfortable with my planning progress for OVER A YEAR. During each check-in meeting, and more importantly on the big day itself, Andrea was kind, thoughtful, professional, funny, prepared, and ready to tackle whatever was thrown at her -- and then some. Despite the flaws, our wedding was flawless in my mind, and the bulk of the credit goes to Andrea. I recommend her without reservation. read more

Oh my gosh. Andrea is THE BEST. Before going through the wedding planning process, I had zero understanding of everything that a day-of wedding coordinator actually does. I thought they just roll on the scene with a vendor list and a few instructions and act as the point of contact and timekeeper for the day. I couldn't have been more wrong. Andrea was recommended to me by a mutual acquaintance. Even though we hired her as a "day-of" coordinator, she was helping us for months and months before the wedding. We had at least two or three 1-hour phone calls, and she came to our venue with us for a walk-through. She created our entire timeline, including what each vendor is doing by the hour. She helped answer any dumb questions we had and never seemed impatient or like she was too busy. She also offered to draft up the floor plan for our entire reception. Closer to the wedding day, she became the main point of contact for all the vendors and shielded us from getting bogged down in our inbox during a very busy time. She and her team also did a large portion of the set-up for our reception. We just left sticky notes on items or boxes with what we wanted them used for and they executed everything beautifully. They also used their design eyes to make things even cuter or prettier than we had planned. At the end of the night, I was looking around at what a huge mess we'd made and how much stuff needed to be boxed up and was so grateful that we didn't have to worry about it. Andrea and her team boxed up everything for us, including all the flameless candles, votives, picture frames, games, leftover food, etc. During the reception, Andrea and her team helped make sure things ran smoothly, helped us bus tables and fill water stations, and so much more. They seriously went above and beyond, and with a smile and such great attitudes. They were working for over 11 hours that day. You may be naive like I was and think "I don't want to spend money on a day-of coordinator. My [insert friend or family member] said they'd help us." Give your friends and family a break so they can enjoy the day and celebrate with you instead of having them run around all day stressed and sweaty trying to do everything themselves and being left at the end of the night with a huge mess to clean up when all anyone wants to do is go home and crawl into bed. If you really calculate all the hours Andrea and her team put into your special day (both leading up to it and on the day-of), it's really incredibly affordable.... almost to the point where you'll feel kind of guilty about what a good deal you're getting. I'm about as "frugal" as they come, so please just listen to me and treat yourself to Andrea's services. read more

The first day was an intimate wedding ceremony with about 40 guests in Palos Verdes and the second day was a big wedding with 240 guests in Long Beach. Andrea is amazing!!! I searched LA, OC and SD for wedding planners extensively before choosing Andrea. So, I can say with confidence that she's the best! We hired her as our Day of Coordinator for our Joshua Tree (Rimrock Ranch) wedding. In general, I'm a Type A planner who have a lot of trouble trusting someone else to take the reign. I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to relax on my wedding day despite hiring a DoC. However, Andrea is a miracle worker. It's probably the first time in my life I didn't think/stress about anything. She kept me fed, watered and the the right amount of buzzed all day, talked to every single vendor, picked up my bouquet in another city, and earned the approval of my Asian parents (hardest task of all). Andrea and her team did a great job coordinating our wedding. Our wedding was last September so this review is long overdue. I do not want to imagine what would have happened if Andrea was not our cocorindator and was not there on our wedding day. From our first phone call, she showed us that she was prepared and helpful and ready to asssit in every way possible. She thought about every detail and basically took care of everything I could think of and did a great job with our wedding timeline! She was very professional and patient, (all the way from the start until after the wedding) which trust me it is very important when dealing with stressed out brides and grooms and their families. Not only she helped us with coordination of our wedding but also she helped us with taking all of our ceremony decorations from our room to the ceremony site and helped us with every detail from placing the special ordered napkins and table numbers to all the wedding favors and absolutely did a fantastic job. (We had about 154 guests). Everything from walking down the isle, to ceremony, to cocktail hour, to dinner, to speeches, to cake cutting, and photos, was planned perfectly and went smoothly without any issues. She was able to think outside the box, she was one step ahead of everyone, and I was truly happy with everything that she did. She was organized and was able to coordinate every little detail to perfection. Andrea and her team even stayed longer and helped us tear down and pack. They packed everything and put everything in our room and handled last minute payments to the vendors so that we do not have to worry about carrying cash with us. I am very happy and grateful that I found Andrea and cannot truly describe what a great job she did. Since our wedding, our family and friends cannot stop talking about how organized the wedding was! Hire her!!! I don't know what I would have done without Andrea! The months leading up to my wedding brought me a lot of stress & lack of motivation to continue the never-ending planning. From the moment I spoke with Andrea on the phone, I felt a sense of relief. I could sense (just on the phone) how experienced, organized, & on top of it she was - which was just what I needed in a coordinator! I hired her for day-of coordination, and let me just tell you, she went ABOVE & BEYOND! Leading up to my wedding, Andrea provided me help & recommendations for anything & everything I needed - from bridesmaids gifts, to portable restrooms, to signage. She knew the answer! She also helped create a master timeline for us with all of the separate timelines we received from the photographer, the DJ & our wedding officiant. On the day of our wedding, she worked diligently to make sure everything happened as we envisioned. She was so calm and collected all night, and was constantly smiling. Not only did she excel at coordinating our backyard wedding with 175+ guests, 3 food trucks, a DJ, photographer, a photo booth, and all the other nuisances we wanted - she found time to bring us water, or a cocktail, let us know if we needed a wardrobe or make-up adjustment, and I'm sure handled several small issues that came up without us even knowing!
