After searching around, I came across Ahad & Co and what a relief and blessing they are. I simply called them, explained my issue, then I was connected with one of their professionals. The CPA confirmed that it was something they could tackle and we began the process. At the time, I was working with Tarikur, an absolute treasure to work with! He explained what needed to be done, asked all pertinent questions, and guided me thru the process. In the end, I came back with an awesome refund, and greater than that, I had a peace of mind with regard to my situation. Fast forward to 2026, I did not hesitate to have them prepare my taxes again. Unfortunately, Tarikur is no longer there, but I was assisted by Akram. There were some delays but he completed my taxes before the deadline and his did a great job preparing everything. I found it very easy to review my return and understand his rationale for his preparation. Furthermore, I received a great return again and I could not be more pleased! Aside from my experience with the staff, I really appreciate their customer portal. There is no need to email anything because you can upload all of your documents to their secure portal. You can also chat with your rep, pay your invoices, and download your returns, all in one place. I especially appreciated that as a returning customer, all my documents were there, so Akram was able to see what was done last year. Super efficient! In terms of pricing, they will seem high if you are used to doing your own taxes or maybe you've gone to a local tax preparer. However, it's important to understand that these are true tax experts who can navigate any situation, so you're in good hands. I reached out to them months later inquiring about the filing for another matter and they casually informed me they never filed them. They offered plenty of excuses, blamed me for filing them within the legal submission parameters (i.e. on/by April 15th), and offered zero compensation for their egregious error. They actually proceeded to charge me the full amount to file and even expected me to pay the late-filing & extension fees that I incurred as a direct and sole result of an accounting firm's inability to file taxes! Every single representative I have dealt with is allergic to accountability and deals exclusively in excuses. Shameful and unprofessional behavior all around... especially from Edderkys Gonzalez and the ceo, Ahad Ali. He is full of excuses all while admitting they screwed up. They offered $100 off of preparation service for this year...I immediately declined. Then they offered $200 off and I immediately declined. That is a fraction of what they cost me already from last year in late penalties alone and the ceo told me the absolute most he could discount tax preparation at his own company was $200. Clearly a lie. He's the ceo of a small, private, company...not the ceo of Goldman Sachs.

I first went to consult David back in March 2022 and he was great. He answered all my tax questions and I was in and out of the office in no time. I thought to myself, great, I just found an amazing accountant in my neighborhood. During that time, I explained to David about my situation and he responded to come back to me when tax season is over and all he has to do is to file a 1040x (to amend my tax return - 1040). (Side note: The issue that I had was that I initially e-filed my taxes. The federal rejected it but the state accepted it. Which is why I went to seek professional services in resolving the problem). So on December 12, 2022 at 1:30pm I went to see David and his office was busy. I told David I did not have an appointment and I asked, "should I make an appointment"? He decided to hear me out at first but then he passed my case to one of his employees. The employee explained to me that since I did not file my taxes 2020 taxes with them, there is nothing that they can do and I would have to come back during tax season. I tried to explain to them what David told me back in April (to come back after tax season) and David told his employee in Chinese "just ignore him, he is too annoying". Yup, just because someone doesn't speak the language, doesn't mean the person does not understand. The funny thing is that, just over the weekend, the same family friend asked me how was my experience with David because she wanted to file her taxes with him for the upcoming year. I raved about how great he was the first time around but after this experience, it got me to think: if a family friend doesn't even use your service in the first place, it is extremely telling of your professional demeanor or the lack thereof.
