Twisty Freeze is one of those places with the order windows. Basic looking but it works and the stuff comes out. With the prices not that bad it's cool it's combined with high quality. Crowds gather when it gets warmer such as the afternoon we came. It's also across the street from Hegeler Park. That's where youth leagues play baseball and other sports. As one can imagine it gets quite a lot of kids. They have plenty for them and plenty for adults as well. A few non dairy choices. It's about $3 for a cup of Dole Whip. A healthier alternative. There's a few rotating flavors including strawberry. Plenty of sugary things of course. They have the classics like banana splits and parfaits. Great place to go when it gets hot. It's located at the intersection of St. Vincent and Lindberg. They're one of those ice cream places that closes for winter.

We had burgers and milkshakes that were solidly good and really hit the spot as we were stopping here along the way home from a long road trip. What really sets this place apart is the service! Everyone here was so friendly - and even though this is very much a "local" spot we felt completely welcomed. When they found out that we were from out of town they immediately asked us if we wanted a picture outside with Papa Burger and one of the waitresses enthusiastically led us outside for photos. This is exactly what you want from a small town root beer stand - a homey vibe, great food and friendly service!!

Just a heads up that it is a cash-only spot, though they do have an ATM on-site if you need it. The service was quick and incredibly polite from start to finish. Food-wise, the burger was fairly plain but was cooked well, and the fries had a great texture and crunch even if they were a bit bland on seasoning. The side salad was essentially just chopped lettuce, but it was noticeably crisp and fresh. Overall, it is a fun, nostalgic pit stop with friendly service if you are looking for a quick bite.

Not this time! The Igloo italian beef not only matched but beat any one I have ever had. The beef was tender, the football shaped bun was toasted to perfection as well as the cheese on top and the au jus wasn't salty and had great flavor. It was the perfect addition to the sandwich. A great glass of root beer topped off the meal. While the price is in the higher side it was worth every penny. Igloo, when I get a hankering for an Italian beef sandwich, you are my new go to. Go try one, you will not be disappointed.
