The optometrist was okay, and the prices are better than at other shops like Lenscrafters (even…read morethough they are owned by the same parent company). However, you get what you pay for in terms of selection and service. Target Optical's selection of frames is basic, and the staff was unhelpful and unfriendly. We went through 3 iterations trying to get the right frames and lenses for my wife. The first time, the frame we selected was too big and heavy for my wife who has a small face. The staff just let us roam around without providing any feedback or suggestion. The second time, we picked a smaller frame but they got the measurements wrong and one of the lenses was scratched. The staff tried to claim that my wife just "needed to get used to the lenses" and that the scratch was just a tiny logo from the company. On the third attempt, they got the lenses right, but the combination was still too heavy, and it turns out that there were thinner, lighter lenses we could have gotten that we were never given the option to select! We finally threw in the towel and got our money back. We went to Lenscrafters and the difference in customer service is night and day. The person there looked at different options for frames, helping us to select something that would work for my wife, and even suggested other stores to look at (competitors!) if what they had to offer didn't meet our needs. So overall, if you just need a cheap frame and lenses and don't mind bad service, then this Target Optical location is fine, but if you want better selection and good customer service, look elsewhere. (Note: this review is for the Target Optical Waterfront location specifically, we also went by the Target Optical on Penn Ave, and the staff there was much friendlier. Same small selection, though).

They charged me for a "specialty fitting" which was unneeded, and she wrote me a prescription for the wrong size contacts anyways. They would not provide the prescription on paper the day of the appt, I had to call and have it faxed because I was not ordering contacts through them since it was going to cost almost double. So at the end of the visit, they were able to overcharge me about $5 undeserved (since I questioned everything) and I am stuck with ill fitting contacts for a year.

My exam was fine, prescription had not changed, I was told by the billing they charged it medical because I have cataracts (which had last few years) Billing told me they charged medical insurance this time because sometime, in the future, I may need surgery, so there would be a record of it. Our Medical insurance doesn't cover all, so the deductible needs paid. I was disappointed in the change of my billing.

He also said that there was nothing wrong with my eyes (I have a vitreous detachment), that I do not have astigmatism and said that my previous prescription for contacts was too high. He gave me an -8.50 for both eyes. My left eye is normally a -9.50 and I believe my right is a -9.25. When I put in these contacts at home, I was severely disoriented and my eyes had trouble focusing. I also was getting a major headache, so I took them out. Today, I tried wearing contacts again using my old prescription in my left eye and his prescription in my right. No major issues, but he was convinced my eyes do not have astigmatism and should be at a lower power. Not sure what to say except that he made it seem like every eye doctor from my past was stupid and he was not. He did say "do you want to get a second opinion?" but if you know anything about insurance, you don't get that second opinion without paying for it out of pocket. I'm glad I didn't purchase contacts from him.

Secondly, I was charged for glasses before even being fitted for them. Lastly, it had been 2.5 weeks since I had my appointment and did not get a call that my glasses were ready. Sure enough I called the office and they had them....just didn't notify me. Returning here is up in the air for me. She always listens carefully and explains her process in detail, weighing pros and cons of each treatment option. I've been coming to her office for about six months now for dry eye (specifically MGD), and she has gone above and beyond for every single visit. Dr. Telega is noticeably passionate about her practice, and I absolutely cannot recommend her enough!
