Will not return. They gave me a bunch of issues and tried to charge me when things were covered (They did tell me a head of time about the $40 charge though). They had my insurance but did not apply it until I questioned them before paying. They charged me for a "specialty fitting" which was unneeded, and she wrote me a prescription for the wrong size contacts anyways. They would not provide the prescription on paper the day of the appt, I had to call and have it faxed because I was not ordering contacts through them since it was going to cost almost double. So at the end of the visit, they were able to overcharge me about $5 undeserved (since I questioned everything) and I am stuck with ill fitting contacts for a year. read more

This was my first visit to Dr Strain and the Bridgeville office. I was treated with great care and friendly no-pressure conversation. My eye tests were done on the most advanced machines and the results were shared with me immediately. Very thorough testing for cataracts, glaucoma, and Macular Degeneration. All these test results were described in detail. I am looking forward to my next visit to this office to take advantage of my Vision Insurance. I highly recommend this site and its staff especially to those of us approaching "senior" stage of life! read more

Dr. Crawford and all of the techs were fantastic. My issues arose with Vision Source whenever I tried to place an order for contacts. When ordering contacts you need the eye base size. Vision Source forgot to document this information therefore, I was unable to order contacts. I needed this to order contacts and now I have to wait 5 business days until the doctor gets back from vacation because of an issue on their behalf. Judy, the receptionist, was VERY rude. In fact, she was laughing about this matter. My vision is now on hold because of them. I won't be back! read more

I've been going to Vision Source for years. The staff is very friendly and efficient and Dr. Strain is Comprehensive. She is very kind and never rushes. The mechanic devices in the office are efficient and test the eyes thoroughly. I have recommended Dr. Strain for my 4 yr old grandson to be checked, also. The receptionists are the friendliest and happiest ladies I've ever seen working in a doctors office. They make the initial welcome so nice, every time. Dr. Crawford is so knowledgeable and takes time to help educate me throughout our appointments. She's truly brilliant in her profession (specializes in dry eyes which is a plus for me). Dr. strain is helpful, and an amazing doctor! I DO NOT recommend the staff however. They are curt on the phone... seem bothered by simple questions... and are often quite rude. If you make an attempt to reach Dr. strain directly... good luck! I phoned and left four messages and two messages on line... and FINALLY got a call back 10 days later. It would not surprise me if Dr. strain did not get the first few messages. I feel the staff tried to block me from talking to her. read more

I actually enjoy going to the eye doctor now!! The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and professional. The office uses an electronic record system that keeps very thorough patient details. High-tech imaging and scanning equipment is used. Both Dr. McCann and Dr. Strain take their time with patients - even when I was the last appointment of the day, they weren't kicking me out the door and rushing my care! In fact, the staff even ran across the street and put more money in the meter for my car b/c I was concerned my time had run out! Can't say enough positive things about this office, only downside is limited parking (usually have to go for meters) in the downtown Bridgeville area but otherwise I'm a very happy customer! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Strain for a few years now. I am so happy with the care I receive at Pittsburgh Eye Care Association that I will not go to another doctor. Everyone in the office is so nice and professional! They always take the time to explain everything to me so I understand. They also make sure to take the time to find the best contacts for me. Also, I have never had to wait long to see the doctor! I used to live about 5 minutes away from the office but I recently moved. I now live about an hour away and will still make the drive to see Dr. Strain because I know there is no other eye doctor I would rater see! read more

I was sent to Vision Source South Hills for a second opinion. I enjoyed my appointments with Dr. Strain and found her to be knowledgable and attentive. However, I was incredibly displeased with how I was treated by the staff. I went through my vision insurance with a staff member and assumed this information was added to my file. I called a month or so later to order contacts and was told I could not pay for the contacts when I came and picked them up; I needed to pay for them over the phone. I have never paid for contacts before picking them up before but I figured it wasn't a big deal, just differences between offices. Once I got the statement for my order, I realized that they had charged me the full amount and not run anything through my insurance company. I called back and was met with no answers, saying they would call me back later. They never did, so I called back again and finally learned that my vision insurance had never been added to my file. After going through my information a second time, they then assured me they would file a claim with my insurance company and I would receive a check soon. Never once in this back and forth did anyone from the staff apologize or recognize that they had made a mistake. In fact, everyone I talked to seemed more agitated that they now had to reprocess the claim. A month later, I received my refund along with an updated billing statement. Amongst the revised patient/insurance payment was a statement describing why the revision was necessary. It read: "patient originally did not say to use insurance and paid in full for contacts-decided a few days later she would like us to bill vsp and refund her the remaining balance". This is the first medical establishment I have come in contact with that required me to advise them of my desire to use my medical insurance. Professional medical establishments run benefit checks and inform the customer of their costs prior to performing the service. While I feel Dr. Strain is a highly qualified ophthalmologist, I am exceedingly disappointed in the professionalism and efficiency of the office staff. At this point, I do not see myself returning in the future. read more
