She talked me through some things that could help with wearing my contacts too long, etc. Also, while the glasses I chose were super expensive, I also really love them. It was a frame I had found nowhere else! As for the front office staff, definitely very friendly but very disorganized. When I was first contacted by Krista she had to get my husband's social and I gave that over the phone. Then she asked me again when it came appointment time; turns out she did not write it in the system. Thankfully I had it in a note on my phone. Not something you keep on hand! Secondly, I was charged for glasses before even being fitted for them. Lastly, it had been 2.5 weeks since I had my appointment and did not get a call that my glasses were ready. Sure enough I called the office and they had them....just didn't notify me. Returning here is up in the air for me. While I had a good experience with the doctor, paying as much as I did for glasses and not having an entirely good experience left sort of a bad taste in my mouth.

I scheduled an appointment since I got vision insurance for the first time, and because I was having trouble seeing while driving in the dark. I felt like my eyes were being strained from constantly being in front of a computer screen. The appointment was very thorough and the doctor and other staff were friendly. I expressed my concerns for having air blown in my eye balls, and getting my pupils dilated. The doctor informed me that he didn't need to do the puff of air in my eyes because he had another way of testing the pressure. I was relieved. Once he put the eye drops in my eyes, he said I had about 15 minutes before things would start to get blurry. The woman at the front helped me look at frames and decide which ones I liked best. I tried on a bunch and decided between my top 3 favorites. I thought they had a good selection of designer frames. At this point my eyes got super blurry from the dilation drops when it was time to pay. I was so embarrassed because I couldn't see anything when I tried to hand the woman my health savings card. We then realized I never activated it. I felt so bad, but I had to ask her to read the numbers off of it for me to call to activate it. She helped ring me up and explained everything as I tried on glasses so there were no surprise charges. I was there for an hour and 15 minutes total, which was much longer than I expected. I had no idea what all an eye appointment entailed. It was very comfortable and clean. The doctor was patient and answered all of my questions. I chose this place based on Yelp reviews and distance to where I live. I can't wait to go pick my first pair of glasses in a few weeks!

I will say that making an appointment is super easy and they even have a telephone prompted call to remind you the day before. That is great service. The staff is also friendly and really helpful. The appointments go by quickly and there has never been a wait time. I like the idea that when I have an appointment it is kept, and kept at the time that I made it. The frames are interesting and always hip. The prices are ok. I will say that on the whole they are a bit more expensive than I would normally like to pay. But I will pay that much for some prescription sunglasses because I drive around so much. Another thing that I like about this Vision Care is that they will give me my prescription and pupilary distance without making a huge stink about it. I pay for my appointment and for my sunglasses so if I want to get glasses cheaper online they allow that. Some other places do not and that is what makes me continue to use Vision Care above anything else. Anyone in the neighborhood should get their eye care here. It is great. The service and staff are top notch. You cannot ask for much more.

My exam was fine, prescription had not changed, I was told by the billing they charged it medical because I have cataracts (which had last few years) Billing told me they charged medical insurance this time because sometime, in the future, I may need surgery, so there would be a record of it. That would be enough for me to avoid a place and recommend that others do the same, as keeping the appointments you make is one of the basic hallmarks of a serious business. It didn't end there. The next weekend I went to a different optometrist. That optometrist was unable to help me, as these fools at Gateway Eye Associates had put a "prior authorization" on my insurance. I tried to call Gateway Eye Associates, but all on receives when calling them is an automated message directing one to their website. I ended up having to wait until Monday morning to call my insurance company and have them remove the hold. So, not only were they unable to help me, but they also prevented anyone else from helping me as well. Seriously: Don't go here.

He also said that there was nothing wrong with my eyes (I have a vitreous detachment), that I do not have astigmatism and said that my previous prescription for contacts was too high. He gave me an -8.50 for both eyes. My left eye is normally a -9.50 and I believe my right is a -9.25. When I put in these contacts at home, I was severely disoriented and my eyes had trouble focusing. I also was getting a major headache, so I took them out. Today, I tried wearing contacts again using my old prescription in my left eye and his prescription in my right. No major issues, but he was convinced my eyes do not have astigmatism and should be at a lower power. Not sure what to say except that he made it seem like every eye doctor from my past was stupid and he was not. He did say "do you want to get a second opinion?" but if you know anything about insurance, you don't get that second opinion without paying for it out of pocket. I'm glad I didn't purchase contacts from him.
