Beaver Marsh is the southernmost part of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, a casual flat trail for an…read moreeasy hike or brisk walk. Part of the trail is a boardwalk over marshland, with viewing spots for wildlife - mostly birds, but allegedly the big draw is beavers (hence the name) and otters. The recommendation is to go at dusk or dawn, the best times to maximize your odds of a beaver sighting. Be warned though, it's also the best time for mosquitoes: it's a marsh, after all. Not a ton of parking at the trailhead, which can be annoying given how remote this part of the park is.

Brandywine Falls located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is one of my favorite places to hike…read more The Brandywine Falls area is easy to access, the main parking lot is located on Brandywine Road and is next to the falls themselves. There is a bathroom and water fountain here, so it is a nice stop on the bike and hike trail which passes by the falls. The falls is the tallest, one of the largest and most visited falls in Ohio, it is also one of the highlights of the National Park. The park has created a boardwalk that allows you to go into the gorge and get some great views of the falls. The boardwalk does have some steep stairs and you should be careful on your way down and back up. The falls is very picturesque and will give you different looks depending on the amount of water in the stream, the time of the year and the time of day. While the falls are great I really enjoy the hikes that are available in connection with the falls. The hikes take you down the gorge and there is a bridge that allows you to cross the stream and come back up the other side. The South side hike is a bit away from the stream and is mainly through the woods on hard dirt trails; there is a bit of ups and downs including some stairs and stream crossings on bridges. The North side trail is along the river and gorge and is steeper and can be a bit of a scramble. The total loop is about 1 1/2 miles with a nice bit of vertical for its length. You can also do longer hikes to the Stanford House or the Boston Mills visitor center. One of the things I enjoy is seeing the falls and the gorge in different seasons. During the summer the lot is usually full during most of the day, the gorge offers a rather cool and shady area when the day is hot. Fall has the changing leaves and cooler temperatures. Winter creates a whole different look. Finally, spring gives you the rushing stream and the transition from winter to summer. If you haven't been to Brandywine Falls you need to plan a visit, if you haven't been there recently it is well worth a return visit.

There's also a bike trail leading out from the trailhead to other parts of the valley. The falls were there. I suppose for this region they're a sight to behold, but if you've been to other waterfalls in pretty much any other part of the country/world, these won't be too impressive. Pleasant enough area for a shorter hike and cool geology.

Hall is located directly across the street on the South West Corner of Route 303 and Riverview Road. There is handicap parking located directly in front of the G.A.R. Hall. Alternate Parking can be found 1 block away at the old Yellow Creek Trading Company. Or at Riverview Court (old Ohio Hardwoods) on the Southeast Corner of the intersection of Route 303 and Riverview Road. Parking in Peninsula is always tight so consider car pooling if coming w friends. Can't wait to return!

We've gone to watch bands I've never heard of and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's a very personal connection to the performers because the hall only holds a hundred ppl or so. You can buy a beer or cocktail and for 2 hours just relax and listen. Very friendly ppl. My only reason for 4 stars is the bathrooms are in the basement. I've seen a new addition that is supposed address this problem but haven't been yet. I absolutely recommend!

Trail isn't fully paved, it's a fine gravel, but very nice on a hybrid bike. Well maintained and easy signs. If you take the train back with you bike, try to time your departure since waits are long between train loops.

The visitor center was full of rangers and volunteers, many of which were very friendly and helpful. It is two story and there is a nice exhibit space and kids area upstairs. The first floor has information, maps, and a gift shop. The exhibit was really informative and nice and explained how Cuyahoga Valley was formed out of the desire to make national parks accessible to more people, which it certainly seems to have accomplished!

I visited the major sites, including Brandywine Falls, Beaver Marsh, and the Ledges. They were fine, some decent hikes and views of different natural formations. Did I feel like I was seeing something truly unique, a natural wonder? No. Of the 20+ parks I've been to, Cuyahoga Valley struck me as the most ordinary and least cohesive experience thus far.
