Brandywine Falls located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is one of my favorite places to hike. The Brandywine Falls area is easy to access, the main parking lot is located on Brandywine Road and is next to the falls themselves. There is a bathroom and water fountain here, so it is a nice stop on the bike and hike trail which passes by the falls. The falls is the tallest, one of the largest and most visited falls in Ohio, it is also one of the highlights of the National Park. The park has created a boardwalk that allows you to go into the gorge and get some great views of the falls. The boardwalk does have some steep stairs and you should be careful on your way down and back up. The falls is very picturesque and will give you different looks depending on the amount of water in the stream, the time of the year and the time of day. While the falls are great I really enjoy the hikes that are available in connection with the falls. The hikes take you down the gorge and there is a bridge that allows you to cross the stream and come back up the other side. The South side hike is a bit away from the stream and is mainly through the woods on hard dirt trails; there is a bit of ups and downs including some stairs and stream crossings on bridges. The North side trail is along the river and gorge and is steeper and can be a bit of a scramble. The total loop is about 1 1/2 miles with a nice bit of vertical for its length. You can also do longer hikes to the Stanford House or the Boston Mills visitor center. One of the things I enjoy is seeing the falls and the gorge in different seasons. During the summer the lot is usually full during most of the day, the gorge offers a rather cool and shady area when the day is hot. Fall has the changing leaves and cooler temperatures. Winter creates a whole different look. Finally, spring gives you the rushing stream and the transition from winter to summer. If you haven't been to Brandywine Falls you need to plan a visit, if you haven't been there recently it is well worth a return visit. read more

Fun part of Cuyahoga Valley, apparently it's one of the main draws for this national park. There are a few trails, including a loop around the falls that's under two miles, with a little bit of an incline but still not overly challenging. There's also a bike trail leading out from the trailhead to other parts of the valley. The falls were there. I suppose for this region they're a sight to behold, but if you've been to other waterfalls in pretty much any other part of the country/world, these won't be too impressive. Pleasant enough area for a shorter hike and cool geology. read more

I love visiting this part of the CVNP. The parking lot here is usually pretty full, but I can usually find a place to park. There are bathrooms located here as well. This waterfall is impressive for being in Ohio and it attracts many people to it. If you are able to do stairs, I recommend checking it out. It's a short walk from the parking lot. The entrance is easily seen from the parking lot. The ramp/stairs (wood) can be slippery due to the weather, so be careful. The rock formation hangs slightly over as well. You are also able to hike the border too. It's a very nice area. I definitely recommend checking it out just be mindful and keep it clean. Respect the area. read more

So many years here in Ohiooooooooo, and this was my first time venturing into the one and only National Park here in the Buckeye State. I should have ventured up there YEARS ago, and with more time, but even my very small, much too quick detour and drive thru of the park confirmed we have something VERY special here, and that I'll just HAVE to come back for more!! With time constraints, I was forced to bypass all/most of the area attractions, but didn't want to miss the falls I'd seen and heard so much about. Brandywine Falls most certainly did not disappoint, especially during near-peak fall foliage season, and my only wish was to have been able to stay longer... We were told this waterfall is a 'must see' when visiting Cuyahoga National Park. This advice was exactly right, this fall is very scenic and beautiful. We walked the trail from Boston Mill Visitor Center. The trail was wide enough for a comfortable side-by-side, and the pathway was easy to navigate, just a few sections with tree roots, steps and rocks. The walk through the forest was a beautiful, 2.5 mile adventure. There are places where people come to play in the river water which looked like a nice way to beat the heat / humidity of the day. When you get to the falls, there is a staircase that splits and you can see the falls from either the top, or closer to the bottom vantage point. We noted that when we went to the top of the staircase, the pathway continued up to a parking lot. Many people visited the falls by parking there, and for them, it was a short walk down the staircase to see the falls - so wonderful that there are options for a quick visit if that is all the time you have available. Beautiful falls but one should be warned it's mega quick and not exactly a hike. You can see it from the parking lot and in total you could be out of there in 15 mins easy. Board walk and steps to get there but it is pretty and for a super quick stop in the area it's worth it but like I'm saying don't plan hours for this. Bathrooms are on site. read more

I visited for the first time with a female empowerment and social group in July 2021. The falls are located within Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Depending on where you live in Cleveland, the Falls may be either close or far from you. I wish I lived closer otherwise, I would come often. My drive is about 40 mins to an hour to get here depending on traffic so I haven't been back to the Falls since 2021. Once inside, you can follow marked hiking trails and enjoy the scenery as you go. The group that I was with enjoyed walking in the woods especially with the lovely weather that we had on that day. The trail leading down to the waterfall viewing platform from the parking lot is a short walk. We popped over to Brandywine Falls before heading to the Cleveland airport today and it was a really nice stuff! We didn't realize that it was part of the national park, but we're pleasantly surprised when it was free to enter. The Falls are only a short walk from the parking lot, there are three ways to experience them. There's the upper mid and old mile paths. All of them require you to go up and downstairs, they aren't steep, but there are plenty! You could probably do the mid stairs and be in and out within 15 to 20 minutes, but you can also take the upper trail and go on the walking and bike path and stay for as long as you'd like! What's nice is that there is a lot of of shade, and the stairs don't get wet. The falls are quite nice and pretty to see, but there isn't much seating near the platform so it's more of a viewing, take a few pictures, and then carry on. read more

I visited Brandywine Falls with my newborn, and it was such a peaceful experience. Even though the weather was hot, the trails offered plenty of shade which made the walk enjoyable. There are quite a few steps along the way, but it's worth the effort -- you can see the waterfall from both the top and the bottom. Beautiful waterfall located in Cuyahoga Valley! There is a conveniently located parking area that makes it easy to access the boardwalk that takes you closer to the falls. Just stunning. I always forget this is not too far from me. It is not busy and not crowded usually (although I may have just lucked out at the times I went.) It is particularly gorgeous in the spring when everything is beginning to bloom. If you like to hike (or even if you don't!) this is a nice place to visit. I got the impression there is something for everyone- more simple trails and also more advanced. The falls are the real treat though. What a beautiful area. read more

We came here after a big storm, so the falls were roaring! I had visited earlier a few years ago during a drought and let's say the falls were more of a trickle... I'm glad I gave the falls a second chance, since it was such a beauty and there was even a rainbow! There is a small parking lot with bathrooms at the trailhead. There's a boardwalk area with plenty of steps down to the falls, and then a bunch of unpaved trails if you want a longer jaunt in a loop. There's plenty of tree cover on this trail as well. Even though there were many people at the beginning, the further you go from the falls, the more secluded it gets. We even saw a few garter snakes in addition to the usual birds. It's a perfect place to enjoy nature. read more

During a recent trip to the CVNP, we made a point of also visiting Brandywine Falls. THe fall foliage was not at its peak but the falls were awesome. We had had enough rain that the falls were flowing quite well and the scenery was terrific. You have two options for seeing the falls - one trail leads to an area near the top of the falls while the other trail takes you down to the area below the falls. If you have time, I strongly suggest that you try both trails - you won't be disappointed. Brandywine Falls is a must-see attraction in the Brecksville area. read more

This is Brandywine Falls here at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The waterfall is probably the main star and attraction of the park. It was recommended to me by the park ranger at the Boston Mill Visitor Center. These Brandywine Falls are accessed by following a short 1/3 of a mile pathway along a boardwalk. It's not difficult whatsoever. In fact, the boardwalk tract can be combined as a roundtrip loop throughout the heart of the woods. The loop is not elevated and is a simple, casual stroll. My only disappointment about Brandywine Falls and the overlook viewing platform it's accessed upon is that ...there's no entry to the base at the bottom of the waterfall. If possible, you'd be able to take beautiful pictures looking up at the falls within a statuesque sort of backdrop. So, peering down and out upon the falls, you're not really able to capture efficient photos. You sort of have to do selfie pics or take a picture with the platform railing being at your waste side (which I always find frustrating). In the end, the guardrail disrupts the true essence of being outdoors. Oh well, nothing you can do but snap some moments from the vista point. Some extra details... - For locating Brandywine Falls and Trail, simply plug the name into Google Maps and you'll easily be guided to the parking lot from the Boston Mill VC (which most tourists do). - Also at Cuyahoga Valley NP, it features other short walkways and hikes through nature offering folks opportunities to breathe in the fresh Northern Ohio air. - Although Cuyahoga Valley NP is pretty much a forest park, I'd just temper expectations for visiting. There's not much to see and do here (in my opinion). I used about 1/2 - 3/4's of the day exploring around. Overall, for coming out to Cuyahoga Valley NP it's a rite of passage to stop at Brandywine Falls. It may not be a majestic waterfall, but still for when I visited back in late May of 2021, the surroundings were pleasant and scenic for a nice daytrip hangout. read more

This is one if not the main calling card during any visit to Cuyahoga National Park. You can view the falls via a short walk with several steep steps and landings. It is worth the endeavor. It was at its zenith for color in mid- to late October when we chose to visit. The 60-65' drop of the falls represents a spectacular type of bridal veil or gown. The park ranger was a wealth of information in regrads to the falls history. The parking lot is rather small, however, and is under construction as municipal water and sewage lines are being brought in. Best to visit early in the days as crowds increase dramtically after 9-10AM. read more

One of CVNP's most popular spots is this here waterfall. Perhaps its most photographed too; it has found its way onto many a postcard and promotional item. The falls seem to flow in spite of all conditions, equally beautiful in the depths of winter as in the height of spring melt or autumn trickle. The sheer height always lends itself to that classic rush and white noise we all depend on waterfalls to provide. You can park quite close to the falls, making it a little more accessible for even the most limited mobility of visitors. Or you can take the longer and more strenuous trail from the Boston Mill visitor center a couple miles to get here. At the end, nearest the falls, is an assortment of wooden stairs and boardwalks over the otherwise inaccessible cliff sides. This can get slick on rainy or icy days and is almost always crowded, perhaps the only big downside for the visit. read more

June 22, 2019 Tony and I visited Brandywine Falls South of Cleveland part of Cuyahoga National Forest. It's located South of Northfield off Rt 8, very easy to find. It's FREE to enjoy. We parked and went down the well built boardwalk. At the split, down the steps takes you to the beautiful below the falls picks along a boardwalk under ROCK overhangs. The top of the boardwalk split takes you to a beautiful view of falls and additional steps to the top of falls and a bridge over the falls. Park is kid, stroller, dog and wheelchair friendly, minus going down stairs to lower view. read more

Very scenic area in Ohio! There are great trails surrounding the waterfall, which makes for a great hiking day. Some trail heads are a few miles away, but the distance is walkable. I know there is the Stanford trail there, which can be a bit more challenging than some of the other ones but still a great hike. At the waterfall, there is also a walkway and stairs to get closer to the falls. If you are in the area, and want to hike and see a great waterfall, then I recommend you come here! read more

Hubby and I have enjoyed hiking in Cuyahoga Valley National Park this week and Brandywine Falls did not disappoint! We arrived to a large paved parking lot that filled up fast! Right off the parking lot is the entrance to the boardwalk viewing area of the falls that is built into and around the sandstone rocks. One can walk a short distance and view the falls from the upper portion of the boardwalk. From there, one can also descend several sets of steps and more boardwalk to continue on for an upclose view of the falls. The well-maintained boardwalk is astounding, what a feat it must have been to construct! During our visit a volunteer park employee was present at the bottom of the stairs to answer questions and talk about the falls. He was a wealth of information! He described how the falls were originally a mile away, but the slow erosion of rock and sand caused by the impact of the falling water has brought the falls to their current location. The falls cascade down 60-feet of sandstone rock and are beautiful! This is a must see if you are near the Cuyahoga Valley National Forest! read more

Sunday we had a full day of northern Ohio Waterfalls. We got up early and hit the road by 7:30 and didn't get home till dark. We had a list of of 7 waterfalls to try and see in 1 day. To even get to the first fall will take 3 1/2 hours and same to get home so this will be a long day and not sure we will see all on the list. We'd read all are just a short walk to see but traffic and other unforeseen issues can always change your day. Ideally we would spend the night up in that area so we could see more and not be rushed. Because of our dogs decline in health (she's paralyzed in her back legs) we are limited to how long we can go and what we can do. We didn't bring her because the falls are not stroller friendly. Most people are only limited by covid right now .. we also have our pugs issues. This was our second visit to this location ... we'd did a Ohio trip couple of years ago to include Youngstown, Mansfield and Cleveland. Seeing the famous prison from the movie The Shawshank Redemption, several parks, bird sanctuary and of course water falls. From the parking lot the falls is a short walk .. there is a wood board walk and stairs. Couple viewing stations. you can get quite close but didn't see a way to get down to the falls or anywhere to swim. Both times the falls had alot of water ... i think both visit were in the spring. of course the weekends are more busy and the parking lot can fill up but we were lucky. This was our first stop on our 7 water fall adventure. I'm outta shape so the stairs and walk got my heart pumping but no issue. they have signs you can't use drone or we would have. read more

We visited in June 2020, the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Arrived pretty early on a Sunday. For a photographer I'd either get there even earlier or wait until the evening. The sun was shining right in the lens, making good shots a bit tough. By 9:00 the parking lot had filled up and there were tons of people at the falls. This waterfall is worth a look. Brandywine Falls is within Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Google Maps got us right to the parking lot at the trailhead to the falls. At the parking lot, there is a restroom, a drinking fountain, and maps. From the parking lot, it is a short about five-minute walk to the falls viewing deck. There is a decent amount of stairs down to the falls, so not an accessible trail, but the stairs have railings and aren't too terribly steep. After viewing the lovely falls, the trail continues, with several options for a short or long walk depending on which route you take (all options clearly marked in the map we grabbed from the parking lot). On the beautiful Easter weekend when we visited, we opted to do about a two-mile loop that ended back in the Brandywine parking lot. The trails were well marked and reasonably easy to traverse, with a few somewhat steep spots and some stairs without rails. But it definitely wasn't an advanced hike by any means; our family of two adults and two teens, who were casually dressed in typical walking sneakers, handled it with relative ease. We would definitely visit again to enjoy viewing the falls, and try a different route of trails afterwards. Lovely nature area, indeed! read more

Such a beautiful place! We here in Ohio are blessed with some of the best parks in the country. Brandywine Falls is one of the best, and fun for all ages. The falls area is well maintained clean. Parking is limited but I have never been there when the lot is completely full. There's a hiking trail that loops around the falls. It is not too challenging, however there are a lot of uphill climbs. I believe the loop is about 1.5 miles. There's also a bike path that runs through the park as well. Beautiful falls. Handicapped accessible. Wooden stairs or platform provides a nice walk to the falls. Go after a rain or early spring when the water is running fast. This week had no rain so the water flow was mostly a trickle, but still pretty. You can see the rocks that go under a heavy flow. The ruins of an electric company that made appliances are near the falls. Near this, by car, is Blue Hen falls which is a half mile walk from the parking lot. The trail is uneven stony asphalt and tree roots. Continue on the trail and you'll see Buttermilk falls. read more

Many times finding the best spots in nature require a lot of effort, waterproof shoes and bug spray. Not so with Brandywine Falls! It's located right off the road and th ere's even a well-built boardwalk that takes you right next to this stunning waterfall. The water resembles a bridal veil as is cascades down the rocks from 60 ft above. If you want to extend your visit, you can explore ride your bike on the paved Summit County First Energy Trail or hike the foot trails accessible from the parking lot.
