I have always had excellent care from the physicians at Lakeshore and appreciate the care I receive from Dr. Wilson. HOWEVER, the office staff seem to be clueless when it comes to filing an L&I claim properly. They either don't send the correct information, are confused as to what needs to be sent, don't know to whom forms are to be sent or are sending to a disconnected fax machine someplace in outer Slobovia. In more than one instance it has taken them weeks to fax a standard ROA form to a claims manager at Washington L&I, and that is after repeated phone calls from me and L&I. A model of efficiency they are NOT! I also find it interesting they provide no email addresses or contact information so you can direct correspondence to the correct person when a procedural problem arises. I keep hoping that someday someone will figure out how to run their office for them! read more

I agree with Michelle K. regarding Dr. Platz, if it weren't for her I would most likely be going elsewhere even though the clinic is 5 minutes away. I did have less than positive experiences with Dr. Eckert and Leonardo. Two examples: I brought my daughter in when she was about 8 years old for allergies and Dr Eckert asked if we had animals, for which my (emotional) daughter replied yes and went on about her beloved cat. He coldly suggested we consider not getting any more animals after "that cat" was dead. Wha...? Then when my daughter was about 12, Dr. Leonardo suggested (in front her) that I put her on birth control being she "looked a lot older" than she actually was. I tried immediately changing the subject while I walked behind my daughter giving the Dr. "the eye" while waving my arms and shaking my head no, to which she just ignored me and carried on about it acting like I just one of those mothers who "doesn't get it". I was so taken aback and my daughter was pretty weirded out by it. Like somehow I don't know my daughter or what's best for her and need to be educated, uh no, I'm her mother and if you want to suggest something insane like that you can respect my position and say it discreetly, thank you. My husband was so p*ssed when I told him about it and said he would write her up for trying to cram her own agenda. It took me a long time to return after that but I finally decided to give them another try myself for convenience sake. Sooo, other than that I would suggest Dr. Higgenbotham and PA Kosnik who is also very good. read more

I love Lakeshore Clinic and in particular Dr. Sally Esser. I make my obligatory annual pilgrimage for my physical and I never have ANY trouble getting an appointment. Check-in is fast, no matter when I go. The staff is friendly and professional. And Dr. Esser is great. She listens to you, doesn't try to stuff medication down your throat without discussing the pros and cons, and gives practical advice. Growing up a doctor's daughter, working in his office, and having a sister in medical practice, I've been exposed to many physicians' practices and styles. And I'm also a little fussy. Although the bar is high, Lakeshore Clinic meets my standards. My husband goes to another Lakeshore Clinic location and he has had the same positive experience. He has a chronic condition and appreciates that they take the time to listen to him and are actually skilled at providing sound and effective medical advice. read more

I have nothing to complain about other than the staff (mainly front desk) could be a bit more friendly, but otherwise, I'm happy with this location. Making appointments is easy, however, one downside is if you need to leave a message, your message may go into the abyss and you might not ever hear anything back. Always ask for names....etc. so you can get some documentation. My primary care doctor, Dr. Higginbotham is fantastic and I feel he is one of the better doctors I've been to, throughout my life. Dr Esser has taken care of my family for 25 years. I love her straight forward, practical approach. She's seen us through a lot of difficult situations. We've been connected to excellent specialists when needed and had help in managing insurance and medical leaves. The clinic is friendly and convenient in Bothell. I hadn't been seen at this clinic before today and didn't have much in the way of expectations. I set an appointment two weeks ago, arrived 30 minutes early today, and found out that they had cancelled my appointment. Apparently, they thought I was someone else with a similar name and left a message on their voicemail cancelling their appointment -- which, somehow, cancelled mine. The receptionist was apologetic and friendly, but didn't know what to do. After speaking with her supervisor, she was able to squeeze me in with another doctor. The doctor I saw (Dr. Eckert) was friendly and informative. While I was there an hour longer than I expected due to the mix up, all else seemed fine. I'm sure it was just an honest mistake, but it concerns me a bit that two patients can be mixed up like we were. I hope there are better safeguards when relaying other personal information... read more

Our family has gone here for a few years. These are our experiences. There is one front desk gal who is helpful, kind and easy to talk to - the rest make you feel as if they're doing you a favor. So, not an ideal welcome to the clinic. The wait time gets worse as the day goes on. That could very well because the doctors we see spend time with their patience. Perhaps the time allotted per patient should be increased. But, if you need a quicker turn around, book early. All of the medical assistants, bar one, have not been kind, and again, their attitude could use some work. Wait time, once called back, is terrible. Absolutely terrible. The doctors themselves - we've seen Lu, Leonardo and Higgenbotham mostly, a few others when we're stuck. Our first choice would be Leonardo, as she seems the most thorough. It does, however, feel as if she doesn't want to be there some days. Lu is our second choice. She is more quiet, but knows what she's doing. Not a fan of Higgenbotham - it seems to take a few trips in with him to get a resolution. Others are hit or miss. They have an x-ray guy on site, and he is great! Limited services, but professional and kind. The phlebotomists are the worst. They seem to be training someone new all the time - big turn around. I knew that they had a student the last time we were in and asked for an experienced one--she had only been at Lakeshore for four months. Looking at the pros/cons from my own review, and reading others - it sounds like management has some true issues that need to be worked through, to better a patient's experience. read more

I have been coming to this clinic for 10+ years and regularly see Dr. Leonardo who is great physician. Actually, all of the doctors I have seen through the years have been great as are the front desk staff. I usually can get a same day appointment and seldom have to wait more than 10 minutes. I am truly perplexed by a few of the reviews as my experience has been nothing but positive. Dr. Leonardo in particular is extremely thorough and I never feel like I am being rushed. We have moved practically out to Duvall, but I still drive in to see her and take my kids there as well. read more

I never write reviews, but feel compelled to. I have made three phone calls to the clinic this week, the 1st the receptionist told me she could not pass the message to the Drs assistant. Today I called with and asked to speak with the medical assistant, she told me the Dr was just finishing her morning and she would get back to me shortly it was 11:09. Fast forward to to 2:01 I called again and left another message with the front desk it is now 5:05 no response. So disappointed in the response or lack of same. I like my Dr. very much however the office staff is horrible. I will not recommend the clinic and am actively searching for a new physician. read more

I appreciate the doctors at Lakeshore, and like that both offices are near me, and on my commute. A the same time, I also agree with many of the other reviews, that the office staff is, on average, difficult to work with. I'd like to make this positive, so here is my guide for working with Lakeshore Clinics, based on the years that I've attended: 1. When you make an appointment, always ask which office the appointment is at. Recently, I went to the office that I called, and when I arrived, I was told that the appointment was at the other office. I received no apology, although they kindly allowed me to drive there. Everything worked out. But, time was needlessly wasted. 2. If you are there for a child, make sure to tell the upstairs receptionist, once you see them, that you are there for the child and not yourself. I've had it happen twice, that I waited, and they didn't call my daughter's name, or even look for her. The first time, I arrived early and waited over half an hour, as the upstairs receptionist came and went. I don't like that they made this mistake. The way the Bothell office upstairs receptionist works is disorganized. Bad workflow. 3. If you need the office to fax anything, be firm that you need to done at a certain time, and explain clearly why. My experience was that I needed a prescription faxed to my daughter's daycare. I called just after 10AM. Later at 3:30am in the afternoon, I got a call asking questions about the fax, and another message just before 5PM that they had sent the fax. They likely did this, because I politely agreed to the first person who I spoke to, that 1 hour timelapse would be OK. I don't think that message was relayed. I can't believe this delay happened! Fortunately, my wife had called the pharmacy and gotten them to fax the prescription right away. Which, they did. So, my daughter could have her medicine. At least Rite Aid gets it. 4. And finally, always politely ask for the first name of who you are speaking with. Trust me. If you ever have to reference a time given, or a piece of information, this is the only way that you'll have a trail from to your conversation to why there is a problem. The biggest positive is that they are open on Saturdays (one of the offices, I believe). They have an on-call doctor number for patients, and they are easy to get to, and easy to park at. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Platz for a long time. She is wonderful! She is straight forward and honest with you. I am giving her 4 stars because she deserves them! Now lets talk about the waiting shall we? I called up to see if I could get in to see Dr. Platz on short notice. When I called they had several openings, I took a 3:30pm slot, thinking I could be in and out within an hour...WRONG! I didn't even see the doctor until 5pm. Yes, I waited an hour and a half. I wonder what would have happened if I took the 5pm?! Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened. I do not know why it keeps happening but I will give Lakeshore another chance and hopefully the wait time can improve. I really don't want Dr. Platz to loose my business, she is a great doctor and the location is near my home. read more

I have been going to the Lakeshore Medical clinic formerly the Bothell Medical Clinic located in Bothell for 59 years. Now that I am retired and on Medicare they will not accept my Medicare insurance supplemental plan so they refuse to see me. Their policy is they only accept Medicare advantage Plans which is the absolute worst option for people on Medicare. Since other providers in the EvergreenHealth will accept my coverage I don't understand why the Lakeshore clinic was brought into this group. Love the doctors and nurses but the scheduling is ridiculously frustrating. I have been here around 6 or 7 times and never have they been ready for me. I've waited over a half hour several times and once they scheduled the wrong type of appointment and I waited two hours. To their credit at least they made it work but I feel like they are cramming in appointments. They said they normal schedule you in for 15 minutes. Crazy. The front desk staff is usually really friendly but there are a couple there who get a little cranky so I can see where the negative reviews came in. I hate feeling like I'm at the mercy of greedy business practices by having to wait and wait and wait every time I come here. I have expressed my concern several times and they respond nicely but can do nothing about it. Also, what's the point of taking me in the exam room and making me sit in a gown for another half hour. At least the hour wait in the lobby is warmer. This is going to be my last visit. I know it's pretty common for clinics to run like his but I found that my old one in west Seattle didn't make me wait so long!!! read more

This is a clinic that needs to provide extensive training to their staff on how medical insurance works. They don't understand the acronyms, so they charge the highest co-pay when they can and tell you the letters stand for something they don't. They really don't understand Medicare supplemental insurance, so you risk being turned away when you arrive for your appointment. Way too much trouble to deal with when there are so many good doctors elsewhere. read more

The bad reviews are crazy! I'm a healthcare professional so often have higher expectations than others in the entire delivery of care experience. I moved from out of town over 2 yrs ago with seamless transition. Although not super involved, my medical history has been challenged with a prior accident/neurological & pharmacological concerns as well as women's health issues. My primary MD is Dr. Teresa Platz, who is a highly intelligent and intuitive person who truly LISTENS, reads her patients well (I can be quite analytical & stubborn in which she takes extra time to explain/question) and spends the time needed EACH AND EVERY TIME. I've had care from quite a few docs over the years in different places in WA and she spent the time to weave all of it together to get the true picture of the difficulties I was and am still facing. I've also had to see several other MD's (Leonardo is GREAT, very warm and friendly, and Lu as well!) when Platz was not in, and nothing but excellent, on time, friendly, THOROUGH, CONCERNING care from every one of them. I've gotten call backs when promised, in to see if not my MD, an MD quickly when needed (Sat hours are fabulous!), into my appt within minutes (no more than 5-10) of my scheduled time, the medical assistants have all been super friendly, caring & concerned as well, & the front office personnel has always been very professional and friendly. But we all have times in our lives where we endure hardships and in mine I get a letter saying hey will not provide me medical services anymore since I havnt been able to pay my bill. I mean really if my bill goes to collections your not going to see me for medical attention. Fuck that. What's a bunch of shit. It's fucking health care. That's just fucked to me. I have never written a yelp review before but I had such a poor experience dealing with the receptionists at Lakeshore clinic in Bothell, that I thought it would be useful for others to stay away entirely, due to this problem. I called several times due to a problem with my prescription, each time being told that the fix was an easy one and that a doctor could clear that information for me quickly. All that needed to happen was for reception to send my information to any doctor. I called over 6 times and each time was disappointed that nothing had changed and that my information had not been passed on. On my final call the receptionist not only yelled at me but said the F word several times and told me I was stupid for even thinking this was something that could be fixed. I have been going to this clinic for 8 years and as of now I will be choosing a different one. The unprofessionalism I received was disheartening and I do not feel comfortable even walking into this building anymore. If you're looking for kind individuals who care about your health I HIGHLY recommend going somewhere else. read more

Dr Sally Esser is listed as my PCP but I am in process of finding a new one. I came to her when I was 32 with undiagnosed Grave's disease (hyperthyroid autoimmune disease). I explained my text book symptoms and she told me there was nothing wrong with me based on my blood work and based on her physical exam - she actually said my thyroid was inconspicuous - she has a degree from UW - last time I checked inconspicuous means almost undetectable - well, long story short, I knew something was wrong, I paid for a private blood lab and guess what - Grave's disease, thyrotoxic with a heart murmur from my racing heart...the endocrynologist said he could see my thyroid from across the room as it was FOUR times the size it should be. So, I would say somebody needs to go back to school before they start using fancy words like inconspicuous and telling patients nothing is wrong who have text book symptoms. I could have died if I had followed her advice and not got a second opinion. read more

I made an appointment for this clinic via ZocDoc. Mine was approved immediatly, but my partners was cancelled by them. The reason they gave was he had 'Apple Health', which he had due to us both just moving here and my insurance not kicking in right away. He cancelled the apple health, but the 'business office' wouldn't accept the documentation showing that cancellation and wanted us to wait an entire month to see the doctor. This is unacceptable for any medical practice to say 'Sorry, we can't see you'. He has valid insurance via my employer and they don't seem to want to make an exception, nor try to work with you. I am sure that the doctor we wanted to see would have been great, but the heartless automaton's in the office don't seem to have a shred of humanity or common sense in them. Do not even attempt to go here. I'd give zero stars if I could. Now to try and find a new doctor, one who's staff embodies caring and compassion. read more

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. My doctor is great, the problem revolves around its office and billing staff. I called in about charges that should not have been made to me. They basically told me o well and hung up on me and both my wife. I was told I had zero charge then I got a bill. It's ok because I love my doctor and I would pay it. When I ask for explanation they cut me off then hang up. That's not even the half of it. I was then referred to as poor for wanting to discuss my bill with the billing manager. If you want to be over charged and treated like a second class citizen then come here. Me and my family have been visiting lakeshore, bothell location since 5-6 years now. All the doctors are very good, they give you attention, listen carefully and have good patience in explaining in detail. they are really thorough with their process and very cordial. But lately since 1 year, all our appointments have been really bad and frustrating experiences due to long wait times. We always go in hope it will improve because we really love the doctors here. The wait times can range from 45 mins to 1 hour 30 minutes sometimes, which is just insane. The clinic administration should understand the importance of patient's time too. Time is money these days, and wasting that much time just waiting to be seen by the doctor is just not fair. Very very dissapointed with them since last year.I will see for couple of more appointments otherwise we are considering switching our primary physician to some other clinic near by. read more

Positives first: I love Dr. Sally Esser. A friend referred me to her, because I wanted someone who cares and doesn't look at their watch and leave after 15 minutes due to insurance billing policies. I wanted a doctor who REALLY listens to me, and Dr. Esser has been fabulous. For her I would give 5 stars. Unfortunately, customer service has been inconsistent and frustrating. My waiting times have rarely been an issue, but billing, calling in with a med reaction, and some staff hiccups have caused me a lot of frustration. However, I went and saw the office manager and submitted my complaints in writing and felt that they were heard. If I didn't love my doctor so much, I would have left, but I'm hopeful that the issues will get ironed out. I have had such a difficult time finding a PCP, I am willing to tolerate some of the admin bumps, but I am definitely the squeaky wheel when it comes to my health. read more

They get me in very quickly, always the same day if I have some immediate need, and have been consistently on-time with my appointments. I was a patient of Lakeshore since the 1980's and now that I recently went on Medicare, they have found a sneaky way of getting rid of me. They will not accept my Regence supplement coverage. Really!! They only accept 3 off brand plans. Very tricky Lakeshore, shame on you for you lack of concern for your patients. read more

My husband has gone to Dr. Higginbotham at the Lakeshore Clinic for years and really likes him (I give Dr. H 5 stars). However, I referred my brother-in-law to the clinic since he doesn't have a primary care provider and just spent the weekend in the hospital to find out he is an insulin-dependent type 1 diabetic. He made an appointment with Dr. Wilson to establish care and get prescriptions for insulin and testing supplies. He saw the doctor for exactly 4 minutes, received no prescriptions, and was ushered out the door after telling the doctor "I have a lot of questions" and Dr. Wilson responded "You'll have those. Diabetes is a life long disease." Wow - way to make a person with a very scary new disease feel important. I will never refer anyone the this clinic again. read more

I have at times found the nurses here somewhat less than qualified for taking blood. Some of the doctors are good and some are less than what I would hope to find in looking for care. I have found the front desk people helpful, but my husband has found them to be less than helpful. The clinic is close to home and is why I chose it, but I am considering looking for another primary care doctor. I try to go to the doctor as little as possible and would like a doctor who is friendly even if I only come in once a year. read more

This office is horrible. Dr. Lu's bedside manner was non-existant. I went in for a ingrown toenail and as soon as she looked at it she quickly dismissed it as just an infection. The next day I went to a foot specialist and he quickly took are of the ingrown nail. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I am giving Lakeshore 2 stars for one reason only. I have seen a handful of doctors within the practice because I had not found one that worked well with me. I always felt like another number. I understand dr's are very busy and have many many patients to get to in one day. But a number of them were dismissive and did not really listen to what I had to say. The one and only doctor in their facility who I felt gave a damn was Dr. Leonardo. She listened and never made me feel like she was in a hurry to get to the next patient. Besides the not so great bedside manner of the dr's the management was what ended it for me. Their business department is RUDE, uneducated and have horrible customer service. I called to talk to their business office one day and the gal I talked to had to put me on hold and talk to her manager multiple times. One of my questions I knew might be a special case so I was patient and let her figure out the answer. It was as if she was reading from a script and a robot. Earlier in the day I had called my attorney to make sure I was within my legal patient rights. The gal in the business office argued that my attorney was wrong and after me very adamantly and persistently suggesting she take my attorney's name and number she did. She told me she was going to hand it off to her manager and hung up. I don't know about anyone else but I don't expect to be treated that way when I am a paying customer. If it were not for Dr Leonardo I would be giving them no stars at all. Thank you to Dr Leonardo for your great healthcare. And another thank you to your business office...you ladies have made it easy for me to walk away without thinking twice about it. I have been bringing my kids here since late 2014 to see Dr. Eckert who was listed as a pediatrician under my then health insurance. For starters, they really aren't a pediatric clinic but he's an affable doctor otherwise. His nurses are another thing. Unfriendly and grumpy. Not great with kids. I started out taking my two year old there and then my newborn but once my baby turned 1.5 years old I took them both to a real pediatric clinic because I just felt they weren't knowledgeable enough about kids there. The worst part was being told my baby needed a pediatric neurological referral but after 6 months of trying to get this referral, I'd had enough. My child's current pediatrician assured me that there was nothing wrong and a referral was not needed. Today my youngest is 3 and as I was filling out the immunization forms needed for her preschool I discovered that this clinic did not give my child a very important vaccination when she was an infant! Fortunately she is a very healthy child and fortunately still that this vaccine isn't a requirement to attend school but I am extremely angry that I was never informed that she wasn't going to get this vaccine or was I ever given the choice to administer it or skip it. As a parent, this is my choice and no one is allowed to make it for me. I'm livid about this and warning other parents to think twice about bringing your infant or child of any age here. They are not well suited to treat young children especially. What if my baby (at the time) got extremely sick because she never got this vaccine and I wasn't even aware she wasn't even getting it? What if she's now prone to getting infected by this virus because she never got the vaccine as an infant? I get sick to my stomach thinking about that. I'm not sure if there's any legal recourse but I'm looking into it. read more

Front desk and Admin awful, Dr's below average and not good. I just recently got a bill from almost a year ago. I have been in their six times since and my insurance covered every time except the first time last April, this is what the bill was for. Why didn't you tell me or mail me a bill for that before this Jan? I tried to come in for a follow up prescription and they wouldn't even let me make an appointment until it was paid in full..$300 bucks are you kidding me? Your going to risk never getting another payment by me or my insurance company because of your bad admin. I told them I would pay it in a week no problem or I could set up a payment plan and the gal her name ryhmed with ludy.....she hung up on me. I have sent you referrals....several. I've been with Lakeshore clinic and DR. Wilson about 15 years and I don't want to go anywhere else. If I cannot see Dr. Wilson, the group is large enough, that there is another qualified, Board Certified, MD, in Bothell or Totem Lake. The clinic's location is very good and the group has necessary laboratory, X-Ray and other support services, so I don't have to go anywhere else. The front staff is if friendly, patient and well trained. PS, I hope the 'the good doc' doesn't retire soon. read more
