There are several things that impress me about this church. This church believes that fellowship is…read moreso sacred that it sets apart 8 minutes during the service for the congregation to connect. Something special happens when people, who come from a variety of backgrounds, put aside their differences for the sake of the Gospel. Other activities, like small groups and classes encourage this fellowship. The service also encourages fellowship with a time of prayer where anyone can share a prayer so that everyone can pray with them. There is also a time, after the sermon, for the congregation to express what the message means to them. This unity in the love of Christ is what church was meant to be. I think people are drawn to Lookout mainly because of what they just can't find in the world: Selfless love, rest from a hectic world, and healing for a hurting heart. This church, through Christ, also teaches its congregation the deep, deep, love of Jesus and how what Bible teaches is still relevant today. The worship music is great as well!

While it was communicated to the community that the reasoning was insurance and the church "needing the space" we just found out that the REAL reason was the inclusive nature of the preschool. I am beyond sickened that ANYONE could defend ending a longstanding, highly-valued community preschool in the name of hate is unreal and shows just how far religion, this church, the group of elders, pastor, will go to fuel a narrative of hate in the name of God. Shame. Incredible shame. And disappointment. If anyone is thinking of attending this church, heed the warning that the love and Lord they are preaching is fueled by hate. Good riddance.

As soon as you walk in the door there was an instant sense of Community. Three people within the first minutes were welcoming, excited you are there, which left a feeling of "this is where I want to be". The energetic, live music joyful, the attendees happy. The pastor very charismatic, storytelling explanation teaching The Book of John, from the heart, made you want to learn and know more! Afterward, a chance to sign up for mens/womens groups if you want to fulfill more of the community involvement. Leaving with a sense of 'what a cool place". I visited the Flatiron Church - Lafayette campus this past Sunday. The foyer and message were…read moreHollywood movie themed. The service started with solid worship music - thus the two starts and not just one. The message was more of story time than anything out of God's word - the service spent more time playing clips from Shawshank Redemption than focusing on what would actually bring life change to an individual. Even when scripture was mentioned the pastor couldn't take time to elaborate on Gods word but made references to "many more scriptures" rather than directing the congregation to those scriptures. Flatiron Church's Pastor should be reminded of Paul's words in Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile." Remember Pastor, Paul told Timothy to "Preach the Word" - not the movies. Give up the gimmicks and get your congregation back in God's Word. Don't delude your congregation with softball stories that may send some to the gates of hell with a false sense of spiritual identity.
