This gives them an edge imho. Native plants more easily adapt to our landscapes and they support more insects and birds. I scored several plants I had not seen elsewhere -- Thimbleweed, Canada Mayflower, Solomon's Plume, Bellwort. I passed on the Northern Bedstraw which my parents viewed as a horrible weed. I spent too many hours pulling it out of flower beds in my childhood to want to introduce it into mine now. Prices were reasonable. Definitely worth a stop.

The plants here were in much better condition than in many, many other garden centers this time of year (though there are always a few "tired"/dormant plants even at the best places). The nursery's focus is on native plants, and they had a very good selection. My favorite aspect of this nursery was that there was a sign next to each plant that indicated how large it grows, flower color, what kinds of wildlife benefit from it and so on. This kept my husband occupied, so he didn't pace around, staring at his watch and sighing. We ended up buying--among other things--a cinnamon fern because (according to the sign), hummingbirds visit it in the spring to get soft material to line their tiny nests.

After pure panic all night, and given we were 3.5 hours from home, we woke up Thursday morning and started calling all around for a locksmith. We were recommended from multiple people to try Andy's Ace Hardware in Menominee. A one hour drive later to Ace, and about 20 seconds after him trying, JUSTIN the locksmith got us in!!! He TRULY saved our weekend. I do not know what we would have done besides damage our camper, or drive back to Milwaukee depressed and defeated. I met Helene while touring my venue for my wedding. She was setting up for a wedding that day. From…read moreour initial walk through, I knew she loved her flowers and had such a passion for it. Working with Helene was fun and easy! She always had great ideas and suggestions. She was very helpful on trying to work with my budget as well and make sure that I stayed within reason. We live in Milwaukee but got married in Door County and we did all communication by phone. I enjoyed catching up and just getting to talk to her and hearing her love for flowers. Our wedding was beautiful but the flowers were absolutely gorgeous and made the room come together. I couldn't believe the end result- the arrangements were exactly what I wanted but more! They were the most beautiful thing I saw! I had tears in my eyes when I saw my flowers lol! With the flowers, Helene also made sure of other areas that were above and beyond. She was ready with a backup arch for inside ceremony, she had these awesome pie trays that jazzed up our dessert table and was able to assist with any extra candles needed. I knew I was in good hands with Helene and that everything would be beautiful! I couldn't have asked for a better person to work with.
