We really enjoyed this trail today, first time there!…read more The trail is relatively flat and very well maintained. There is a big loop around the lake that my dogs and I took, which is nice because it's a good walk without being too long or too short and you don't need to turn around. Lots of winding path areas so you feel pretty secluded. If you have reactive dogs you can easily step aside in many areas to let others pass. I'm excited to bring my dogs back here.

Mallards, hawks, and swans O my!…read more I visited the Wissahickon Waterfowl Preserve this weekend which is connected to the Green Ribbon Trail (0.06 miles away) and it is a wonderful spot to observe birds and ducks by a freestanding island. There is even a pier where you can set up a scope or use binoculars and get magnificent visuals on these majestic creatures. Interesting tidbit which I observed this weekend, predator birds like hawks are actually chased away by non-predator birds, like the red winged black bird, as non-predator birds do like predator birds hunting on their land! I witnessed this myself and was instructed by our birding tour guide this happens with birds unlike land animals. The tour guide further explained not all predator birds eat other birds hence this behavior exists in nature. There is free street parking right next to the Wissahickon Waterfowl Preserve and the lovely town of Ambler can be explored after you are done with your biridng. As always people SYOY!!!

It is really nice, lots of water features and a newer playground within it. My kids were entertained and could have stayed all day. As far as amenities, there are some shaded tables and a public restroom. Defintley would recommend for young kids.

Loch Alsh is a small park centered around a reservoir in the middle of suburban Ambler. Most…read morepeople don't know it's here but it is a pretty break from all the suburban houses and stores. There are picnic tables to use in the warmer weather but the main activity here is fishing. Note - there is no swimming or ice skating allowed. There are three drawbacks to Loch Alsh Park. The first one is that it is noisy as right next to it is the 309 Highway. Second you cannot walk all around the lake as some of the land bordering the lake is private. And finally, St. Mary's Lake and grounds which directly borders Loch Alsh and would be a wonderful and natural extension to this park is also private. Still it's good to know about this small scenic spot if you are in the Ambler area.

It's good to see her off the cell phone and iPad and just enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Its a gravel path around perimeter and is exactly 1 mile so its great for keeping track of your distance and pace. There's also numerous fitness stations if you want to do a full circuit workout. * There are multiple baseball diamonds, soccer fields, basketball courts, a volleyball pit and horseshoes. * You can rent out shaded pavilions and grills for parties and evens. They are pretty nice and spacious. * A mid-sized playground for 1 to 6 year olds. The older kids seem to enjoy it too. * Ample parking with multiple large lots located around the park. The one area for improvement would be add more trees and bushes for shade and scenery. Some masonry, and maybe monuments with local history on it would be a nice bonus.
