I am very impressed with FCNMHP at Cassat. On Feb 25 I took a feral cat I have been feeding for few years. She was very sick,not eating much,loosing weight, with an infected back leg and what look to be another infection next to her tail. Flies all over her. It was Sunday. Two days before, I tried to get Blackie seen by vet clinics in the University Blvd area. Not much luck even though I said I was going to pay for whatever she needed. It seemed as if like being a feral cat was a terrible illness by itself. I was able to catch her and took her as a walk-in to the Cassat location Sunday morning. I was glad she could be seen on a Sunday and w/o scheduling an appointment. She stayed 2 weeks there. I got calls with updates and all were very pleasant. I am grateful and extremely pleased with the care Blackie received from Dr Roese and Monica.Excellent bedside manners. Handling a feral cat is not an easy task and Blackie is skittish , but Monica was able to handle Blackie every day. Very compassionate. Other clinics I contacted discriminated because Blackie was a feral but at FCNMHP-Cassat, they made me feel, Blackie mattered to them. I will be forever thankful to Dr. Roese and Monica and to all the staff that took care of Blackie. As a side note, while I was waiting for Blackie to be seen I heard a lady complaining because she had been waiting for 1 hr and could not be told how much longer before her cat could be seen. She did not have an appointment and just showed up. She was expecting to walk in and out ahead of everyone that had scheduled appointments instead of being grateful that her pet was going to be seen. I am so glad I was told about this vet. My dog is 10 1/2 years old and has been having lots of ear issues/infections and I have had the same vet since he was 4 month old. He had been going to them for 4 months with no change and spent well over $2000 and just 1 % change, Been going to this place 8 weeks and a complete change from what he was and maybe spent $100 with rechecks and medications. We have seen 2 vets in those 8 weeks but only one once and all other times same vet she is wonderful and caring and my dog LOVES her. I see this being completely gone next recheck. So glad we went. Yes I have to wait a little to be seen since emergency animals get put to front but I understand that and so worth it. I have learned to make his appt's 1st one in A.M. on Sat. For animal advocates, this is the only realistically affordable place to get multiple animals neutered and get basic medical exam and care. I have used this facility for many years but lately it has declined in professionalism and simple courtesy. Staff likes to chat among themselves while customers are lined up, it seems very disorganized and just an air of being put out by customers prevails. It seems like new staff has replaced familiar faces and newbies constantly interrupt employee/client conversations with utter disregard to courtesy. One employee wandered into the office to show a sleeping kitten in her arms, and again, interrupted activity in the front, yet no one was available to take my cat back for an extended time. Not having a trap caused a reaction of eye rolling attitude and the effort of filling out a form which clearly was frowned upon. (How many people really have traps laying around??) One client was placed in a room before another that had been waiting longer, causing friction with that client and staff. The experience has increasingly felt uncomfortable, like the staff arrogantly doesn't want you there but yet they need a job. This superior attitude makes you bristle in defense and the cartoon in my head smacks them in the head. I'm sure Mr Strasser has a more polite and animal focused vision in his head when he donated. I will have to tolerate this because of the volume of animals I'm willing to TNR. (Sigh). read more

Great service! The receptionist made sure I had help with my two rambunctious boys while I filled out my paper work. When the boys went back to be seen they were super informative about the medications and procedures necessary to get them back to happy healthy pups. The doc was very kind and showed me the correct way to use ear wash as well as tips and tricks for their pills. The prices are also very reasonable and they're happy to work with you to help your pet as well as your pocketbook. I'm VERY satisfied with this clinic and plan to make it our "place"! read more

I brought in a cat I found that someone had dumped and FCNMHP was able to vaccinate/neuter for a small cost of 30.00 dollars. I felt so relieved to be able to do this kind deed and find this cat a home. I continue to bring strays, as well as my own fur babies into this clinic. Everyone is very nice and caring here. It gets busy, but you gotta respect the fact that this is clinic who is saving lives at a high volume. If you can appreciate the good nature of the clinic, you will be less inclined to feel frustrated about wait time. This is a great place! read more

After unsuccessfully trying to get help for my elderly mother's little dog, I happened upon this wonderful, compassionate clinic. They saw us right away and developed a budget friendly treatment plan to save her "baby". First I brought my dog in an emergency for seizures. I was told he was stable which was bull. He had seizures all night then was told to bring him in the next day by 8 am which I did . The doctor was not able to speak english. He wanted to do blood work for $125 I did, but it showed nothing The doctor's exam was useless he didn't find the tumor on his kidney. Second, I brought my very small dog in this past Saturday. She was not able to walk without falling, very hot,and not eating or drinking. I tried to get her to eat/drink but on the way she threw it up. The man said the doctor had to check her for provo virus. She has had all her injections He was NO WAY gentle with her. After a few HOURS we were finally seen and of course BLOOD WORK $$$. Was told everything was "normal". Never did I get a diagnosis. She gave me pills for vomiting/diahrea/inflamation. LIE!!!!! I looked up the medication and it's for vomiting and diahea nothing for inflamation. I'm out of money for the month so I can't take her somewhere else. When I got home I found a LARGE bruise on her chest and a bald area nearby. I'm giving her water by eye drop and have made her some pulverized food that I feed her as much as she'll take. BTW, they were "unable" to take her temp. I was told my dog was not co-operative She still has a fever. I'm trying my best. I was there before 11am but didn't leave until 5:30pm, waiting for the blood work results. If you love your animal don't bring them here. They only love your money read more

I am so thankful for FCNMHP. I care for feral cat colonies around Jacksonville and FCNMHP have feral programs where I can bring the cats in to get spayed/neutered and then I pick them up and release them back to the colony. Most veterinarians won't touch feral cats, but FCNMHP doesn't treat them any different. That means a lot to me. I have taken my pet cats there to get them spayed as well. You can't beat their prices. They make vet care possible for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. They are friendly and really do seem to care about the animals. Sometimes the wait is long, but I believe that is due to them being short staffed and overwhelmed with patients. Jacksonville is lucky to have them. We need them! read more

I love this place! I take my now 5 month old shepherd/boxer mix there. She loves going and is an office celebrity. My favorite vet is Dr. Blair. After noticing Miss Molly's small hair loss patches, she told me my puppy had a common mite that would most likely go away on its on as Miss Molly builds her immune system. Dr. Blair said she'd hold off on prescribing meds ($$) and check-up on Miss Molly in 3 weeks when she returns for her boosters. 1 week later, the spots are starting to disappear on their own, just like Dr. Blair said:) The technicians, office staff, and vets are very friendly and caring. They share helpful information and are not out to rape your pockets. They always are willing to give you the best care at an affordable cost. Plus, you'll know the cost of services before they are rendered. I've noticed most other vet clinics don't even list their prices. Due to it being a walk-in clinic and low-cost, they are usually very busy. However, they always give you an estimate of your wait time. Great clinic! read more

A. Puppy was abandoned in our neighborhood, we took him to FCNMHP for a checkup, shots and to be neutered. Everyone was very nice and helpful, we received excellent care for him. We were able to find him and excellent home. We would definitely recommend them. read more

This place is a nightmare!!! I took in a very healthy, bouncy, beautiful young kitten for neutering and they overdosed him and he DIED. DO NOT take your pet to this facility. I am sick and heartbroken and this did not have to happen. Three weeks ago, I lost my baby Z___ to such horrific experience at First Coast No More Homeless Pets on Norwood Avenue. Upon seeking urgent help and treatment for my dog, I decided to take her to First Coast No More Homeless Pets because it was closer to my location at the time. However, it was the WORST decision I could have made regarding my dog and I have much regret. Upon arriving at this animal clinic and waiting to be seen, my dog and I sat in my vehicle. A clinic technician eventually came out to see us at my vehicle and suggested beginning with a Parvo test. Shortly after, it was determined that my baby Z___ had the Parvo virus, which required some injections to get the healing process started. I was asked to meet two technicians in a separate location of the clinic to administer the first round of shots to my dog. Upon being informed to return the next day with my dog for the second round of shots and leaving the animal clinic, it occurred to me, while heading home, that take my dog Z_____ was never seen by the veterinarian. A doctor never came out to meet, speak with me nor take any vital signs or anything, which is a standard procedure for any office visit. We were only met by the clinic technicians the entire time while at the clinic who also never took my dog's vital signs, no weight; no temperature for fever nor did they hold her or look her over to determine the appropriate amount of medication to administer her for the virus. In less than 12 hours after my dog was treated at this animal clinic, my Z____ became very helpless and died. This truly took me by complete surprise. From that moment, the very next morning, I immediately contacted the clinic upon opening and attempted to speak with the veterinarian in charge, but to no avail. I have yet to speak with the actual veterinarian or nurse up to this very day or receive a call. I have spoken with several other employees to express my concern and still have not received answers to all of my questions to get the closure that I need. Although the mission of For Coast No More Homeless Pets is "to make veterinary care affordable and accessible to all as we save lives by keeping dogs and cats in homes and out of shelters, provide low-cost spay/neuter services with emphasis on feral/community cats, and deliver a broad range of related programs and services," it has not proven to be such. This animal clinic may offer affordable care, but lacks the accessible veterinary care as it speaks about. Please understand that you "get what you pay for." First Coast No More Homeless Pets states that it has veterinarians who care, but my baby Z___ and I were not afforded this kind of experience. As a dog lover, I find it extremely difficult that this animal clinic has a "No-kill mission" that they really do not adhere to. The veterinarian and/or nurse were very negligent to my dog during our visit, leaving decisions up to the technicians who spoke with me about my dog, but never even held her in their hands. They only treated her from a distance until it was time to administer the shots that she received. It continues to plague my mind that the technicians could administer shots to my dog without knowing the proper dosage of medication to give her because they never took vital signs. It was important to me to write this review so that no other animal owner experiences what I have. I entrusted First Coast No More Homeless Pets with my baby Z____, only to have her die due to their negligence. There is still NO closure for me. read more

If calling to set up an appointment and then canceling is worth anything then here it is... I called because I needed my kitten to get his shots. My mother had done the back ground work while I was calling around other places. She gives me a number and an extension. So I call, I am a very pleasant person and leave a message. When this jackass, Robert, calls me back he is just awful! Remember I'm clueless about this place. I made an appointment and just didn't feel right about the situation. So I look up its reviews. I see one truly honest one and others that seem like they are just sucking up because they need future work done. I'm not that helpless. So I called and told the a-hole that I was to uncomfortable to use them. If just talking to someone on the phone creeps me out then I'm definitely not taking my kitten there to deal with those insufferable people face to face. Please do research before you take your animals there! If you're comfortable with them butchering your animal for a small fee then by all means go. But I'm not that desperate. read more

1/10/15 11AM - The staff today had zero sense of urgency when a couple came in with an EMERGENCY pet. The staff ensured they would get them to the vet immediately! They waited.. and waited.. and WAITED! The pet passed away in the owners arms in front of everyone in the waiting room while waiting for the vet. Meanwhile, while waiting and begging the staff to PLEASE let them back to the vet the staff started calling other patients back that were walk ins! Unbelievable! I understand that the vet likely may not have been able to save the pet but these people shouldn't have been made to wait in the waiting room, holding their big dog, while the staff scrambled around like they didn't know what to do! I will not be taking my pets here again after watching how unorganized this place is. Very sad!! read more

"0" Stars for this supposed pet clinic. This place is a "Bait n Switch" place. They very seldom answer or call back. Finally someone answering to make an appointment. I requested my outdoor cat be tested for Rabies. Prior to that day I had my cat bathed, ears cleaned, and nails clipped at PetSmart. The tech said very good kitty, bring him back anytime. The person at FCNMHP said she would not be able to draw blood to test because our cat was TOO AGRESSIVE. (how are you able to give the cat a shot with a needle for sedation but not use one to withdraw blood)? If I still wanted the test done, it would be an additional $20.to sedate him first. Office visit = $25. +test = $30. +sedate= $20. total =$75. When picking up my cat they said sedate now $25. making $80. and telling me possibly have kidney problems, heart worms, etc. They kept adding more problems + charges. When I told them I felt they were adding more after the fact, they made one more attempt for more money. The place was dirty, staff not compassionate and very uncaring. Said they accept walk ins, I went there at 1 pm on friday the 24th of may and they refused to see my sick cat, tried to send me to gateway animal hospital and I walked over there and they refused to tell me what they charge for a urine sample. They need to have a paper telling people what they charge for certain procedures. Needless to say I left there also.I will not go back to either place.
