Then she rushed me out the door. I tried to ask some questions. She replied in about five words. Then she left the room to make more money by seeing more patients. She does not care about patient's health; works only for money. Dr. Nawaz is brilliant and kind, yet runs 45-60 minutes late. The Patchogue location has poor quality sensors for the water to turn on in the restrooms. The water turned on for only one second, off four seconds; on again for one second; then no more water at all from the faucet. I have never experienced such poor water sensors before. I almost began to bleed caused by so-called blood specialists. They seem to have no idea what causes eczema. My fingers within two minutes became cracked, peeling and almost bleeding from this location. Patients with eczema, beware. In general, NY Cancer and Blood Specialists has some good doctors, some not so good, and the quality of everything else is poor.

I was able to get in, fill out all the new patient paperwork and get my entire physical done within an hour. Every single staff member that I encountered was so sweet and friendly. The burden is on you to do everything (e.g., check insurance coverage with referrals, fax medical records, update their office listings in insurer's directories), so I wouldn't trust physicians who don't check for quality in the staff they hire to do nothing to attract and retain patients except make their lives miserable simply because they can get away with it. I'll take family's health and business elsewhere. Someone who treats patients this poorly can't possibly reflect well for the physicians caring about someone's health if they let this pass for customer care. I don't even want to imagine the potential nightmare of dealing with staff who have no sensitivity for dealing with seniors and their complications.

I chose the practice b/c my FIL has been seeing Dr. Waqaas A. Quraishi for ESIs for many years. During our first consultation, he spoke only to my husband while ignoring me. During that visit, I told him there was only one pain med I couldn't take because it made me so ill I couldn't eat, and it made me suicidal. After the first injection, I went to my CVS and found that he had prescribed that exact med. I called the office and was told there is no note about it in the file. He changed it to Gabapentin but was doling them out 14 at a time for me to take at bedtime. After the second injection, I called and left messages for Kathleen, his chirpy assistant who said, " Here's my direct line, call me anytime" for three days in a row. Crickets. On the fourth day, I called the receptionist and told her that if it was not taken care of immediately, I would show up in the waiting room and make a scene. Twenty minutes later, I got a call that it was done. When I found a new pain management doctor yesterday, he immediately diagnosed bursitis in my hip and offered to do the procedure then and there. I asked him about refilling my Gabapentin, he said, "Sure. Three times a day, right?" I was stunned that I could take it during the day as needed.
