This was my second visit and sadly I'm disappointment because time and money wasted. Dr. Dowdy genuinely seems like a nice physician, but his office however lacks the capabilities to handle menial insurance requests that are out of our control I initially established care and mentioned my concerns, and had to schedule a follow up visit to get the recommended treatment after bloodwork, which both required a $30 copay I was prescribed medication but my insurance requested a pre-authorization be completed and the office refused to complete it citing that they do not do pre-authorizations. (Ok fine, that should be posted somewhere or prefaced in the beginning) Sheryl, the office manager after being on hold for 45mins to ask if they could make an exception in this case, she refused to take my call then hung up in my face. I called back several times to see if I can get an explanation or assistance and they repeatedly hung up the phone. The problem with smaller clinics is that there are no standards of care and they have free range to treat you like you're just a number since they don't have to answer to anybody when patients are left without recourse or direction. My insurance contacted the office and spoke to staff and who insisted Dr.Dowdy would "review".... The review determination was I had 3 options "Buy the medication full price, use a lesser quality medication with higher side effects, or switch doctors. In my opinion, if you are looking for personal care, an office that is empathetic and persistent, find a different office that will actually be assistive since we are all at the mercy of our insurance companies. read more

He gives recommendations that solve the issue permanently and in a harmless way. First thing: This doc said in August of 2019 that my main issue was calories with regard to weight gain I was experiencing. When I asked him to check my hormones, he flat out said "it's not going to show anything." I spent the next two weeks at 1400 calories or less per day, at his direction, with activity, and nutrient dense foods (tracked everything I put in my mouth that whole time). I lost 1-2 lb and when I described how strict I'd been, his response was "well that's not sustainable." Next he says "well I'm at a loss because your labs look GREAT." I asked about the fact that my progesterone was so low that it wasn't registering. He said "oh, I wouldn't worry about that." I was furious that I was going to need to teach a DOCTOR about women's midlife hormones. I think I only went back one other time for the lack of knowledge paired with indifference. This was NOT "care." Next thing: I relocated in Sept of 2020- 9 months after my last visit. I have lived in another state for four years and I suddenly get an email about a statement and accessing the portal. I ignored thinking it was one of those blasts sent to all email addresses they have on file. Nope. Today I get a text asking me to access the portal to check my balance. My statement history shows my insurance paid them 2 weeks after the billed visit in January 2020. The next entry shows August of 2024 indicating I have a balance. I don't know who's playing clerk in this office, but it appears they're as good at clerking as Doc is at doctoring. I'm disgusted. read more

This was my first visit to this facility and everything from scheduling my appointment over the phone to the actual examination and consultation with Dr. dowdy was absolutely amazing .... I no longer had a primary care physician so I called a few places and they were short, they were kind of rude, they seemed impatient but the most important thing was that they absolutely were not willing to see me that day ... and I felt like it was something that needed immediate attention. When I CALLED EVOLUTION they were so helpful and when I arrived the place was beautiful, they were all just as nice as you could imagine and the doctor was super cool and most importantly informative, patient and caring and seemed really well educated... he's a bit younger so it seemed as though he is more current and relevant in the practice of medicine...Honestly I told all my friends and family that live in the area to be sure to schedule their next doctor appt with him. So if your looking for a great physician and a great experience give this place a call 110517. I have now scheduled three or four different visits with Dr Dowdy.... both doctor and staff are always so caring and attentive... I never feel rushed and The doctor really engages in conversation with you instead of it feeling so one-sided... Dr Dowdy has even called me himself to check in on me... I honestly didn't think any doctors did that anymore LOL... I wish other doctors would take a page from his handbook... I am no longer happy, they told me they no longer take United health care so I have to pay out of pocket if I want to continue to see him. First visit to this office and I'm very pleased. Attractive office with an inviting setting. I was met outside as their waiting area is closed. I was given a pager and told they were running a bit behind. I'd prefer to wait in my car anyway so there was no problem with that. The wait wasn't long, about 20 minutes. Which after my visit with Lauren, she didn't rush through anything and gave me what I felt was a solid exam. I decided to schedule all of my future appointments here moving forward. read more

Well I was going to be a new patient today. Got there 15 minutes early like they said to fill out new paper work. Ready for my appointment and they took other patients before me. When I asked the office staff attitude was "Oh well, you can wait. We took others ahead of you. We will let you know when it's your turn." I waited. 25 minutes AFTER my appointment time. Asked again and waited 5 minutes for someone to answer the door to answer me. They had no idea how much (and the attitude said they didn't care either). Oh well! Do not go to this place EVER! You used to be able and call and actually see the doctor in person and they had a receptionist. Now when you call you speak to a 3rd party that is outsourced, and you can never see the doctor, its always a virtual appt. very disappointed in this place, had no problems until the outsourcing, etc. I would not recommend this place to anyone, run as fast as you can. Esthetically - this place is beautiful. Now that might not be what you look for in a doctors office but it's important to keep in mind that cleanliness is next to godliness. It's also imparting because it makes for a very comfortable environment. Service - the front desk rep is great. She was so kind and pleasing. The doctor was so friendly he was human and didn't make me feel like I walked in and pulled a number. Hours of operation - it feels weird going in later in the day, my appointment was around 8PM. I came to Evolution Primary Care as a new patient...and I don't feel like I was seen as a person. The office was nice, the staff was nice....even Dr Dowdy was nice...but I feel like I only got maybe 5 minutes of Dr. Dowdy's time. He didn't address anything. All he did was check my lung sounds, lymph nodes, and throat...and that's it! That's not a physical exam. When I said something, he tried to say that things were different these days....that physicians don't do head-to-toe exams anymore, but I don't believe that's true. A primary doctor is supposed to address the whole patient from head-to-toe...not just concerns you bring up when staff is asking the questions. I just feel very brushed off. I figured because EPC was a small practice that I would get more personal care, but I was wrong. read more

It's as though you're in someone's beautiful home, not a clinical setting. Dr dowdy is amazing and so are the girls in the office. They are friendly and so helpful. The doctor comes and gets you himself to bring you to the back and the exam room is not an exam room. There's an exam table to the back and all but you sit in a sitting room and you and the doctor have a discussion about what is wrong. He sits there and comes up with a game plan. To sum up my visit, Willie Frazier (Dr. Dowdy's APRN) was very rude, unprofessional, lacked bedside mannerisms, and made me VERY VERY uncomfortable. He wouldn't do basically anything I called to have done (QuantiFERON test for Tuberculosis, immunization records filled out and my physical-all needed for my job in health sciences). He argued with me for at least 15 minutes and refused to fill out my paperwork because he didn't have time to deal with it and told me to go back to my pediatric primary to have filled out even though the office had my records (cursing, very aggressive and condescending). He dropped the pulse OX and started cursing and saying 'god damn it, shit' and when he bent over to pick up all the pieces half of his ass came out due to wearing tight jeans ... never experienced this unprofessionalism. In order to avoid dealing with him again I cancelled my work meetings on Monday morning and rescheduled to see Dr. Dowdy in the AM for my TB follow up. At this time I spoke with him and he seemed to take my concerns and horrible experience seriously and even filled out my immunization form. I hope something changes here. If not, his staff will ruin his practice. So disgusted with my experience that I will not be returning. read more
