I developed the ultimate respect when they took the stance to help my mother with long-term dementia...BCBS wanted her transferred to a county health center known as a dumping ground. They "held her hostage" for a week until Blue Cross approved an appropriate, incredible care program which ultimately placed her in a facility she LOVED and where she thrived for 8 1/2yrs. A lot has changed since then. I was asked by my out-of-state son a few weeks ago to take a phone charger to his father who had been admitted the day earlier into ER. I thought it would be an easy trip, even with my permanent concussion leaving me "weak" in formerly strong mental abilities. I drove in and immediately got lost. I saw tall buildings, a parking garage, winding drives. The ER was no longer a recognizable building with a parking lot. It had its own drive with four valets stationed. I panicked; I didn't know what to do. One of the valets came up to me, I explained my brewing meltdown re where to park. He calmly spoke to me and offered for me to pull a bit down the drive, park there by the door, and he would watch my car while I went inside. ER certainly had grown, was packed, but staff was calming and made sure I had help to where I needed to be. This was not going to be easy as my son's dad is my ex and I know his temperament. He was in his room, glad I had the cord, mad that I didn't have the charger portion which he had not said he needed.... hospitals often have extras of those. He was not pleasant, but the nurses were incredible. As I stepped outside his room, they approached me, one with a hug to calm my nerves. One, later told me her name Dylan M, said she was going to have Rachel H help find the piece he needed. It took a while to find one...I was so glad they did because he was not pleasant with anyone having to go in or out of his room to tend to his needs. Sorry to be so wordy, but I had asked their names and their supervisors' names because I wanted to make sure I wrote this review. The supervisors are Erics Avellan (mgr) and Jordan King (asst mgr). I had Dylan write the four names on a piece of paper for me. CB, my nickname for my "other half" Concussion Brain, must have misplaced the piece of paper when I got home. I couldn't find it anywhere! About 15min ago I opened my Bible and turned to the next set of verses I was to read. Yes, God made sure these angels would get their due review. God, bless these women, the job they do and the staff they work with to help their patients. The heartfelt way is still at this hospital....it may have grown, its name may have changed, but I have the same love and respect for the heart they put into their jobs!

I came to Moffitt as soon as I found out I had head and neck cancer. They treated me well and…read moreseemed concerned. they told me the particular cancer I had was very easily treatable and I had a 95 percent of a full recovery. Then I explained that I was two and a half hours north of them and I had found a small clinic just 5 minutes from my house, as the treatment I needed would have required two treatments a day for six weeks. Suddenly, the tone changed, as did their body language. They told me if I went to the local clinic I was risking my life and would more then likely have a far less chance of recovering. Like they had a magic treatment of some sort. They tried their best to scare the hell out of me in plain English. While in fact I had noted the radiation machine they had and compared it to my local clinics. They had the very same machine and plan as my local clinic right in Lecanto Fl. I completed my 6 weeks of treatment and while it was rough, it did in fact help me. it's been 7 years. I would not recommend Moffitt at all for any type of cancer treatment. They didn't care about me or my situation. All they cared about was their numbers and studies. I love my Doctor. Dr Joey Bennitt. they did a great job and saved my life. If you get diagnosed with cancer, take a minute to really think about what will be the easiest for you and your family. these small clinics are a lot more personal and you see the same people every day during your treatment, while at Moffitt you never see the same people twice and they seem to be taking advantage of your diagnoses and will use it to their advantage to have you open your check book and say do what ever it takes. Truthfully, all the treatment facilities are the same and will do the exact same thing to help you. Don't fall for their scam. 7 years doing fine!

Deneeka....the medical assistant,was very kind and helpful and kept us posted on the status of our physician who was in surgery so he was running late. Shriners Hospital is an amazing world class facility!…read more Last year my son broke his ulna and radius in a playground accident on a Sunday afternoon. It was a very severe break. The triage nurse at the hospital that placed him in a splint also worked at Shriners and told us that they also see the general public for broken bones! I had no idea that they did this!! I called Shriners early Monday morning, and they had us in later that afternoon where they determined that my son needed surgery to set the break. My son has special needs and does not react well to anesthesia. The anestheologist and nurses went out of their way to make him comfortable and secure. When my daughter broke her arm a few months later, Shriners was the place we went to have her cast placed. She didn't need surgery (thankfully) but the care was just as stellar. Shriners treats families regardless of income or ability to pay. If your child breaks a bone, you should consider this world class facility! You do need to make an appointment, you can't just walk in like you would at the ER.

They over bill at hospital rate for CPT codes - where smaller facilities bill less. They bill $198 for an hour of PT. They never advised us that our insurance benefits ran out or that they did not have pre-approval still for services. This has now caused us to have thousands of dollars we owe - and they are not willing to negotiate or take any ownership. They will not charge lower rates - they are still trying to charge full billing of $198. Make sure before you obtain any services here that you confirm billing and charges and if they have pre-approval for those services. As they are unwilling to work with anybody financially.

Came here today after the Advent Health Urgent Care across the street told me that they didn't have…read morean x-ray technician on site. I was checked in and seen right away. No wait at all, which was really nice. They gave me Tylenol for the pain and did an x-ray on my foot in the room. I was thankful I didn't have to be moved unnecessarily and they were able to come to me. I did registration on the tablet they had which was pretty quick. It turned out my foot was just bruised and not broken or sprained. So I am just elevating it at home. I did get crutches and they did wrap my foot with an ace bandage. I had a fall when trying to use them, but I also already have poor balance. I was okay either way. It was a relatively quick experience. They elevated my foot on the bed while I waited when I first arrived too. Everything was comfortable and all staff were nice. My nurse, Keishla, was also really nice and quick with everything. She helped me off the floor after I fell and made sure I was okay. Even environmental asked if I was okay, since water spilled because I fell. All in all, it was a good experience and I would definitely come back here in the future.
