Has it really been almost four years since I've joined Evolve? Time sure flies when you're having fun working out, especially when you're working out pre and post having a baby. I'm so thankful to Jeannette, Josh, and their excellent team of trainers for helping me stay as fit as possible before, during, and after my first pregnancy. My trainer made modifications for me throughout, and the boot camp classes were small enough for the instructor to also modify my exercises until I was no longer able to participate in camp. In fact, I worked out with my trainer the day after my due date (baby girl took her sweet time and arrived 6 days after her due date). Josh took over my training after I took the summer off and worked with me to get me back to my pre-pregnancy baseline. Not only did I lose the 40 lbs I gained, but I ended up losing an extra 6 lbs! Now Evolve has recently moved to a new location that is 3 blocks closer to me (yay!), which can be an excuse to walk/run there when it's warmer outside. The new gym is next to our favorite neighborhood pizza joint, Pizzeria Serio, but thankfully you don't smell pizza while you're working out. The new space is fantastic and well equipped with lots of brand new equipment to incorporate into your work out. There's a separate shower room and bathroom that are both new and clean. The office and trainers lounge are located downstairs so the first floor is dedicated to training. The digs may be new, but the team is still the same friendly, funny, and passionate group of people who are sincerely invested in helping your reach your fitness goals. Jeannette and Josh have become my friends and although I train with Josh, it's been great getting to know the other trainers during my time there, my two former trainers Jeff and Mel, as well as Sarah, Dennis, Phil, Sam, and Reshanna. I also enjoy the bootcamps and bonding with both the gym regulars and new members. Even Hubby is surprised I've stuck to "my routine", working out with Josh once a week and attending 1-2 bootcamps during the week based on my schedule. It's a testament I've stayed with the same gym for so long. During this season of giving thanks, I'm thankful for Evolve and the staff for helping me realize, achieve, and maintain my personal fitness goals. I say this because unlike many trainers I have had in the past, and I have had 8 in the last 16 years. She actually gives a damn and will work hard to help you achieve your goals. I am the type of person that hates working out... I hate it... I won't do it on my own... but when I put it on the calendar and have someone pushing me, I do it... even though I might complain the entire work out... Then I found Evolve. I have been training at Evolve and attending bootcamps for around four months now. This is the first gym that has 'stuck' for me. Josh, my trainer, is in tune with my fitness goals, and despite me not yet dropping weight, my body has transformed. I'm still working on proper form and getting lots of coaching along the way... but I can do things I never could before -- push-up, planks, and even.... pull-ups! I've started melting fat and gaining muscle. I can see the beginning of tone in my stomach, my legs have slimmed, and for the first time in my life, I have a small bicep bump when I flex. I live for the small-group bootcamps. Every trainer that teaches them has a unique approach, but these different styles help me have well-rounded overall fitness. Josh, Jeanette, Jeff Z., Phil, Sarah, Sam and Reshanna have all been excellent teachers! The other great part of the bootcamps are the relationships you can build with other fitness junkies -- lots of laughs and encouragement!!! When I started at Evolve, my needs included: - losing wieght -Figuring out how to eat healthier -Learning workouts I can do on my own - an environment that makes me feel welcome and relaxed I have been training with Sam now for just about 6 months and I could not be happier. I enjoy going to my workouts knowing that I am going to be pushed to achieve my goals. He listens to make sure any injuries and aches and pains aren't bothersome and listens to what you want to accomplish. I also had a few workouts with Phil and highly recommend him as well. This is a mix of 5 stars and 2 stars for an aggregate of 3 stars. Let me explain. Facility and Location: Both are great and well above what I'd expected. The place is easy to find and parking is always available. The facility is clean, well lit and ventilated, perfect temperature, and can play music in the background. I love how it is not a chain gym and the only people there are trainers and clients. Price per session: The cost for sessions is way above what you pay at a chain gym, including Equinox and FFC. I'd say it's worth it if every other aspect of the experience is fantastic. In my case it was not, so under my circumstances, I'd have a hard time justifying the price. You can purchase single sessions or buy packages in groups of 12. The cost goes down the more sessions you buy. NOTE: There are no refunds (unless you cancel within three consecutive days and in writing) so keep that in mind. Sessions are 45 minutes long. Owner: Very nice. No issues communicating with her and she has always been receptive to feedback and did try to work with me when I mentioned a few major issues I was having with my trainer. Trainers: Trainers are contract employees and there are a few of them. They all seem nice. I've worked with one primary one and I had one session with one as a substitute. All trainers are contract employees (like Uber). They contact you directly to schedule and don't deal with any of the financials etc. My experience with the trainer: This is where it's weird and the main reason for the three stars. Overall, the training was great, when it happened, and I was starting to see myself reaching the goals I had set. All that said, by the end of the 12 sessions, I was not looking forward to working out with that particular trainer anymore. We've had multiple scheduling issues (cancelled) or workouts starting very late and in the end, he was unable to accommodate the schedule I had originally asked for at the beginning. It seemed almost like a bait and switch scenario. I have very limited availability and cannot do weekends. All of a sudden, Fridays were no longer an option but his weekends were wide open. Also, I travel for work sometimes and Friday is the only day for me that is consistent. To reach my goals, I planned on three times a week, Mon, Wed, Friday for the next 3 months. I react very well to set schedules and had budgeted accordingly. With the trainer's schedule restrictions that came into play at the end, there would be weeks I would not be able to have a session. Along with a few other concerns that we were unable to overcome, I would say by the end, the situation was terribly frustrating. I really wanted this to be that constant thing I could always count on. At the current cost per session, which is considerable for 45 minutes, I would expect more ability to meet my needs. Overall: Would I go back? Absolutely. The space is great and I definitely saw results. My issue was there simply was no way to maintain any sort of regular schedule, which I need. I do believe the investment is worth it, and it is definitely an investment. If everything works out for you scheduling wise I would recommend Evolve. I would say my experience was the exception and not the rule....I hope. read more

I am so happy that I found Evolve! I've been working out with Dennis for 3 months now. Dennis is a fantastic trainer! He's motivating but also very accommodating to your personal goals and helps you strengthen while being mindful of your body. I am not someone who worked out regularly ever. I'm not athletic. I like to eat. So as you might imagine I've I gained a few lbs over the years. This past winter I decided to really start living a healthier lifestyle. Baby steps. Evolve is only a few blocks from where I live and I thought working out there would erase any excuses since it's only a 2 min. walk away. "When I was 17 I weighed 362 lbs and my hips measured 64 inches around. I didn't believe I was going to live past my 18th birthday. With the support of my family I went ahead and had a version of the gastric bypass, known as mini gastric bypass. By the time I was 27 years old, ten years had passed and I weighed 200lbs calculating my total weightless to be 162lbs. They each have their own individual style and approach, but they all share a common passion to help you achieve your own goals, whatever they may be. I was paired with Phil and he is awesome! I work with him about once a week, and I always look forward to it because I know I am going to sweat and laugh a lot. He is very in tune to the uniqueness of each of his clients. He always challenges me to discover new limits, and he keeps variety in each training session. It has taken several months of hard work, but Phil has helped me get to a place where I appreciate and love my body. Dropping multiple dress sizes has been an added bonus! The boot camp classes provide additional variety and the 45 minute session is a perfect length. I've been going to Evolve for personal training for about five months so far and it has been a great experience. The owners, Jeannette and Josh are very friendly and encouraging. Jeanette will set you up with a trainer that is suited to your personal needs and goals. For example, I have a couple of old injuries and muscle imbalances to deal with. She set me up with a trainer named Dennis who is an expert at Muscle Activation Technique and he is able to work around and help resolve my various issues. Dennis is great, super well informed and always upbeat and supportive. Most importantly, he helps me to get results! In my five months here, I have lost at least 25 pounds and at least six inches in my waist! I am immeasurably more fit and healthy than I was before. At Evolve can work out with different trainers or have sessions with one person but attend boot camps run by another. I often hear the trainers talking with each other, sharing advice, exercises and information. It is great to know that there is a whole team behind you and they are all working together to help you reach your goals. The actual facility isn't that big, but the space is well used and always clean. In terms of equipment, they have pretty much anything you could want in a gym including things like TRX and boxing equipment. The big advantage over a regular gym is that it is almost never crowded and you don't end up waiting on machines to free up. Personal training with Eve has made my workouts a lot of fun and she customizes a workout according to your needs, she does an outstanding job and I have already seen and felt improvements just in 5 weeks. Eve has taken my workouts to next level. Evolve fitness is a very clean facility and is run very well by the owners Josh and Jeannette who make you feel comfortable immediately. Jeannette has no problems setting you up with the trainer that's right for you. If you are just starting out to try to lose weight, get into shape, or take your workout to the next level like me this is place I recommend. There are Saturday morning classes for adults and kids as well. Eve is running the adult class and I am watching all the adults getting in a good workout, having fun and laughing all at the same time. While trainer Melissa is running the class for kids, it looks like she does a pretty good job expending their energy. Nothing better than seeing kids laughing and having fun to start your morning. Evolve's new gym is awesome! The new enviornment provides a work out space that is clean & modern and has brand new equipment to go along with it. I work out with Josh, who is one of the owners, and I can tell you that this move was truly a labor of love! He did much of the manual work himself, down to laying all the flooring & putting together many of their new "toys". I wrote an initial review a year ago, and even now continue to enjoy my workouts along with the people and staff I share them with. Workouts remain challenging & I never leave without breaking a sweat, whether it be a one on one session or boot camp. One thing that has never waivered is the inclusive atmosphere of the gym. Even in the beginning, I never felt intimidated or out of place. It continues to be a place of positivity & encouragement, which is really important! In preparation for my upcoming wedding, I started training at Evolve about a year ago and have been thrilled not only with the results, but also the positive, supportive, challenging and fun energy that the gym and the trainers offer. The space is clean and organized and the environment is encouraging, professional, relaxed (as much as a gym can be!) and not intimidating in the least. After signing up, I sat down for an introductory session to discuss my goals, workout history, injuries, etc. which was used to tailor my plan and workout to achieve the results I desired. Another benefit are the boot camps provided throughout the week, which clients can attend free of charge (and are very challenging!). Working with a trainer is an investment and this stretches the value beyond individual sessions. My trainer is Sam and I always look forward to our sessions because I know I'm going to receive a challenging workout. Previously, I'd had minimal experience with weights and machines. Sam not only provides great workouts during our sessions, but also educated me on how to use the equipment safely, improve my form and provided nutrition expertise, which is knowledge I'll use into the future. This is meaningful as it demonstrates Sam (and the rest of the trainers) make an investment in their clients, beyond the actual time spent in the gym. The main reason I joined Evolve and not a bigger chain facility was because of its personalized approach of pairing you with a trainer. I needed to work out one on one with someone in order to keep me motivated and committed. The location was also minutes from my home, which was an even bigger plus. I'd say straight away that the higher cost you pay for this type of membership should be something you consider when making your decision. In my case, I knew that this was the only way I would remain consistent and so has been well worth the money for me. Meghan, the owner, is wonderful. She meets with you personally before having you sign anything and thinks about which trainer is most appropriate for your goals. I've worked with two trainers since I've joined (Dennis, who has since left and now Jeff) and both have been very knowledgeable, flexible, and overall a joy to work with. The gym itself is small but very well maintained, and particularly during Covid times the staff have taken utmost care in making sure all equipment is wiped down and sanitized. And despite the small area, the gym never feels overcrowded. I also like that you see clients who represent "real people" who are trying to attain/maintain their ideal level of fitness at various stages, so the atmosphere is not at all intimidating. Dennis Trelinski relieved twice a week my pain after my foot surgery while rehabilitating/training me and using Muscle Activation Technique. Dennis is not only amazingly knowledgeable about anatomy but he will concisely and subtlety make the imbalances in your body disappear and be extremely careful about your body mechanic while exercising under his eagle eye! I rarely met someone who can tell you any single muscle and ligaments in your body and can heal it! If you're looking for a top notch personal trainer at a reasonable rate, Evolve is your place! I bought a 48 pack and it equalled out to about $66 per session. This includes the weekly boot camp classes they offer too. They have a new member special that I recommend taking advantage of. The owner, Meghan, is wonderful and took the time to sit with me (met in person) to go over my goals and match me with the best trainer. I've trained with both Christina and Dennis. Both taught me a lot about my body and what I could do to get the results I wanted (at home work outs and nutrition advice). I'm so much stronger than I was a year ago. The gym itself is clean, has a good variety of equipment and doesn't get crowded. I highly recommend this place. read more

If you are looking for a truly personalized workout with true results this is the place to be. The one on one attention they give is top notch. If you are a beginner or advanced athlete they know just the right amount to push you to see true results. They will change your life. I like when you walk in you know everyone is down to business but you are treated like one of the family. They are truly happy when you reach your goals. I started at Evolve almost two years ago with the goal of getting back into fitness. I had slacked for a while and really needed a kick to get me going again! I picked the perfect place! I really love Evolve. I train with Josh and he is truly excellent. He varies the work-outs a TON and keeps my interest. When I have lower energy days, he modifies the work-outs perfectly. The past year I had started to just feel really weak and out of shape. After trying and failing to get stronger on my own I went to Evolve and met with the studio's owner, Meghan. Meghan couldn't have been nicer and more supportive, I had never had a personal trainer before and was really nervous about it. Meghan paired me up with Tim and I couldn't be happier with my decision. After 36 sessions, I am stronger, healthier and just feel all around better. Tim truly tailors the training to you. He knows how hard to push you and is very generous with his knowledge of fitness and nutrition. My wife and i have been going to Evolve for the past two years. We were tired of going to the big box gyms and getting trainers who either didn't know what they were doing or didn't care. That all changed with Evolve. I've worked out with trainers in the past, but I've never experienced such a high level of quality and commitment before. Jeannette, Josh, and their team aren't worried about signing you up for the next package. They truly want you to improve and live a healthier life (despite how hard I try otherwise). If I need a kick in the butt, they know how to give it. If I need a pick me up because work has kicked my ass, they provide it. They truly care about their clients and it shows by how I continue to see the same people every single week. But, forget about how nice Evolve's team is, the most important thing is you get results. With the big box stores, I simply would not see any results. They would just do the same workouts again and again because it was easy for them. That's not Evolve. The workouts are always changing and I have definitely noticed the results. We recently moved to a new place. Before working out with Evolve, I would have been worried about safely lifting boxes and going up and down all of those flights of stairs. That didn't happen this time around. I was even surprised with the items I was able to lift with ease and without any concern of getting hurt. It saved us hundreds of dollars in movers. Without a doubt, signing up with Evolve will be a decision you will never regret. Of course it costs some money, but so does getting the crappy trainers at the other gyms. Why not wisely spend your money at Evolve, where you have a known commodity and know you will get the results you desire? It will be the best decision you have made in a long time. read more
