Most of the people at this park are elderly and live on a fixed income and are appreciative that the pricing has not shot through the roof like many other rentals out there right now. Mike F clearly is a cheapskate individual as he must have searched for the least expensive place around and then wanted a refund and was refused. I am okay with the last sentence as we like to keep this place a secret. Not sure how he even found out about it.

I just picked him up and all he can say is, "Can I go again next year?" I asked him how the other kids were and he said everyone was really nice and he made a lot of friends. I pressed him as to whether there was even one mean kid, and after a long thoughtful pause he finally said, "Well, one kid cut in line at the bathroom this one time." (ha!) Mr and Mrs Turner run a fantastic camp, the counselors are fun and energetic, all the kids share a desire to get better, no one cares if you're just beginning, and there are so many other activities (swimming, snacks, movie nights, etc). Can't recommend this camp enough! Thank you Turner family for creating a little slice of heaven here on earth! Will be back next year!

Even the bus ride from the pick-up points to the camp is a fun experience for the campers. This was our grandson's fourth year at Iron Horse. It is the highlight of his summer. Courses of Clear Creek is the golf course on Fort Cavazos. The course has a good driving range, chipping green, and putting green, and hosts public scrambles once a month. I've played this course many times and absolutely love it. Typically it features three 9- hole courses, Deer Run, Panther Claw, and Armadillo, however one of the three has been under renovation for at least the last two years.

The fairways are all mowed to the ground, even the rough. Balls would not stay in the fairway even playing the higher elevation side. Weeds next to fairways. Grass was mowed but clippings were so deep it looked like they were ready to make hay. Carts are old and slow. Lots of weeds all around the ponds. Tee boxes had bare spots more than grass. Layout is very strange. Blind shots over trees and weeds at tee boxes on two holes. Big trees dead center on three fairways. Please explain this. Bottom line the course is managed on a government contract and they are milking the contract. Our service people deserve better. When I visit again I will go to Stonetree instead. The government employee in the military overseeing this contract needs to visit this place and see the contract abuse. I have seen 2 other base courses and both were well managed and were excellent. Not this one.

Nice little track in Lampasas and very reasonably priced at under $30 for 18 with a cart. This…read morecourse is a tad tight on some holes but others are pretty open and forgiving. Even from the back tees a lot of the holes are manageable with a 3 wood. There are a few holes that feature island greens. Speaking of greens with all the rain the greens were rolling perfectly and accepting approach shots very nicely. The greens are not especially large so bring your short game. A couple of par 3s have trees directly between the tee box and green. They are short enough that a short to mid iron lets you navigate with no issues. The par 3 17 is 221 from the tiger tees guarded by trees on the right and OB on the left. Be aware there is no Bev cart so bring your own Bevs. I do wish there were more water stations on the course. Overall a nice layout, friendly folks, and you can't beat the price.

I finally got fed up and decided to move him especially after the owner was very rude to me . Not here ! Fortunately we were her family, if you have an infant do not trust this day care maybe if it's an older child who knows who is family and who isn't. Our sons fiancé did approach the day care with their concerns and Mrs Brown told her they would hold a staff meeting. When she asked if they could have back the check that was dropped off that very same morning because her child was not returning she was told no, really?? You released a child to someone wiithout checking ID you breached the contract that states anyone that picks up a child must show an ID. very scary parents beware!!

Overall a pretty nice place to camp. Spots 1-3 are very private with lots of room. The later…read morenumbered sites seemed right on top of each other though. No flush toilets or sinks. In fact, the bathroom closest to the campsites is a porta potty. My biggest complaint is LCRA advertises this park as a place to come swim. We visited over a hot Memorial Day weekend and were disappointed to find no swimming beach. Everywhere is littered with debris and the water was extremely murky. I would definitely not plan on swimming here though we did a few people fishing farther out on a pier and plenty of boaters.
