This used to be a great gym years ago. The place now is filthy and looks abandoned, not to mention the hours of operation which are impractical for a working person! I've been trying to no avail, to cancel my membership and stop monthly and annual charges but there is never anyone on site! I love the staff here! The place is always so clean. The cost is affordable. They have a gym, a Fitness classroom, locker room with showers and a sauna. You can always get a punchcard too which is super convenient for me. My only complaint is that the steam room is not open at the moment. Still definitely like this place. read more

I'm not one for reviews, but my experience dealing with the owner of this gym was enough to make me share. My experience: I belonged to this gym for over 2 years, since before the current owners took over. Recently I moved from Norwich, and at the beginning of September I called and asked to cancel my membership. I was told I was all set. Two weeks later my payment pulled from my account. When I called the gym the owner told me that I was required to sign a form to cancel and "it states it in the contract, you should never sign a contract without fully reading it." When I explained my phone conversation with one of her staff and how I was told I was all set, I was advised I should have remembered the contract and that she would take the misinformation as a learning opportunity for her staff. I found this rude and unprofessional the the owner was unwilling to return the membership fee after her staff misguided me-- a scam by the business to trick exiting members into paying another full month. read more

Do not go to Evolve fitness for your gym membership needs, go to YMCA in Norwich instead. My Experience: Due to an error with their auto-debit system, they had problems with payments being deducted out, when the "system caught up" to the payments this business, and I use the term lightly because I can't see any business treating people as poorly as Kathy the owner seems to, deducted more than the pre-arranged amount stated on the contract. When I called to discuss this with the Operations Manager, he was very polite and attentive and stated he would look into it and I should receive a call back the next day. I however, did not receive a call back, so I called, and the owner informed me that this was my fault and that I should have been making the business aware of the payments not being taken out, which I had not been aware of. She blamed me for her systems' error and hung up on me when I responded that that was not my fault. I called again to ask to have a membership cancellation form filled out for me when I came in that very day. I went in and requested the contracts between the AIM and myself, as well as the contracts that were switched over to AIM and Evolve that involved my accounts, as well as all financial records between myself and Evolve Fitness and the cancellation form. She interrupted me in a snarky tone and told me she would mail them to me and to write my address on a post it note. When I told her she had my address on file, and she could look it up to verify that they had the correct address, she told me I was rude and asked me to leave. I did write the address and request for information down, but the look Kathy gave me indicated that I would probably not be receiving them anytime soon as "those records are stored off site". I have 10 days left of my membership and am not welcome by Kathy on the premises, what am I paying for if the owner doesn't allow me to be in the gym? I actually have not even been to the gym since it was AIM because I am a full time student with a 3.75 GPA, work random hours per week with individuals with developmental disabilities, and I am a full time mother to a toddler. I am also a human being with financial rough patches just like everyone else, and to be so disrespected by a business owner, and talked down to, the way Kathy spoke to me was uncalled for. I want everyone to know about this incident, and know what kind of person they are dealing with when dealing with this business. I wanted to submit this to the BBB but apparently Evolve Fitness is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I just had the same problem. $89 was taken out of my bank account without my knowledge. I was told it was for one months fee and service charges for the year. What a bunch of bull. I haven't been to that gym in 7 month. My contract is dated 12/14. During the takeover if everyone remembers correctly, most of the time there was no toilet paper, paper towels, had soap, air condition, machines were breaking down and the tv's didn't work. If you ask me they broke the contract with me. I was told by Kathy, that the computer just caught up. I said she could have notified me my mail, email or by calling my cell to discuss this with me and to let me know it was going to happen . She couldn't find my cancellation agreement with Aim fitness so my contract was not cancelled. She also said she had $20,000 in legal fees from the take over. I guess this is how they are going to pay for that. You just can't treat customers like they don't matter. Kathy was so rude, after I signed the cancellation paper she told me to leave because I was trespassing. Kathy called me later in the day to tell me that an error was made and they owe me $20. When I picked the money up I asked her how she could run a busy like this and treat people so terrible. She walked away and then Liz took over talking to me, she was calm and willing to look into this for me. I said, look into what, all you have to do is give me my money back. Obviously I'm an unhappy customer that you treated badly. I would walk away and it will all be over, she said she couldn't do that. I told her to keep the $69 because it will be worth it to spread the word on every social media site and places to leave a review. read more
