Came here here for a free class with my cousin. Apparently if you have a membership here you can bring a guest for free to a class each week! That's pretty awesome. The class I came to was a tootsie roll yoga class. It starts off with some regular yoga and then it turns into an intense foam rolling session. After just getting off a plane, this was a necessary class. The instructor, Anna, really gets you to roll into all your hard to reach places. I've used the foam roller at the gym by myself, but nothing like this. Afterwards, I felt like 1. I actually did a workout and 2. that my body was weirdly relaxed. I was sweating but my muscles felt better than ever. Just from a single class, I could tell that Anna instills a sense of community with her classes. She chatted with me as I was signing up and afterwards she caught up with me and asked me how I liked the class, what I thought of San Diego and just general genuine kind conversation. As the previous class was leaving, I saw her talk to a few of the people as they were leaving and as the new class was coming in, she was chatting with people as they were coming in as well. Overall, one of the best yoga classes I've ever taken. Would highly recommend coming in and taking a class! read more

Stopped in this weekend to try the Prana Surf Essential Oils class with some friends on ClassPass. We were all excited to try a new studio, since one of my friends lives right up the street. The place is tucked into a little shopping center with tons of parking below. You can tell it is more of a hippie vibe than other studios I've been to (the teacher started class talking about the rooms aura). I would have liked a bit more hands on adjustments and a bit less chatting. The into email suggested walking, biking or carpooling and gave a free towel for class if you did so. I thought that was a nice gesture. We must have gotten there as a popular heated class was ending. When walking in the shirtless employees there were still dripping sweat off their faces and down their bodies as they help the next class check in. It was everywhere, literally dripping off of every exposed area of skin on them. The floor of the room was still wet when we were laying down our mats. I'm not typically bothered by sweating next to someone, but something about walking into the studio and seeing that at the front desk put me off. The tablet I used to sign the waiver was wet with this guys sweat. I was surprised to find the class was heated, since the description didn't say anything about that. I go to heated classes at Yoga Six regularly, so I was ok, but I was not fully prepared for it hydration wise and wish I had been forewarned. When getting to the class itself, there were some great postures. The music was good, and the teacher moved us through some tricky postures very well. When concentrating on my practice, I felt that it was a good use of time. I am used to a bit more "flow" and less "do this, now stand up and do this" but I understand that every practice is different. The class ended with a cool towel, which was lovely. To be honest the hard part was not the yoga, but literally everything else. I struggled with this review, but settled on three stars after taking everything into consideration. When we were told to clean off the blocks I followed people to the back of the room to see how that was done. There were two buckets, one presumably with cleaner and one with plain water. They seemed to have been used quite a bit already, and the process of dunking the blocks into the two was my least favorite part of this experience. It makes me wonder if other studios clean their blocks, and if so if this is how. I may be purchasing my own blocks after this. I popped into the bathroom to wash my hands after cleaning the blocks, and found it to be below par. Semi clean with various items and dust about. The soap did not feel like it helped, and I was just happy to get out of there at this point. Overall a small local studio that was friendly but missing the ambiance I'm looking for. In my mind just an A-Ok experience, and one I won't be repeating here. read more

I love the workout here, but this studio lacks hygiene. The floor is always slick with sweat (before a new class even begins)! I'd recommend they build in more time between classes to clean up. I feel dirty leaving here. The instructors are great (although i never saw anyone get an adjustment). Location is prime. Music is on point. I have pushed myself too hard the last couple times I've gone. I appreciate a motivating instructor, but I need to learn my edge. read more

I love this studio. It just opened in the neighborhood and has livened up the yoga scene already. Every teacher I've taken from is unique and talented. They are very knowledgeable about the body and movement. If you want a high energy class that will kick your butt try Annas evoX with the live dj every Sunday. Or Riley's class on Saturdays. I really like this studio. I have to admit I went like a year ago to a hot class and thought I was going to pass out so I hadn't returned. But I love Anna. She is so sweet. When I recently returned for a class The Prana Surf Class with Lena she remembered me and was so kind, came over and said hello. I liked Lena's class also. It was a fairly easy class, only warm due to the prior class. She made it go by pretty quickly, was kind, showed some poses and helped if you needed it. My favorite part was the essential oils, she comes around puts a cold cloth on your eyes that has essential oils in it, massages your shoulders and it is just the perfect way to end a class. They have mats if you need one. drinks available and are next to where Whole Foods used to be. So that lot can be utilized for parking. read more

I have been to many yoga studios and teachers over the years. Now that I discovered evolve - I feel like I'm home. It's feels like my home studio. I live in Colorado now and rely on their virtual yoga classes for my yoga fix. Anna and Chris and the entire team are incredible people. They do a phenomenal job at lifting everyone around them up. I've never felt more love in a yoga studio. It's no coincidence that the name of the studio is Evolve. I can't tell you enough how much this little studio in the heart of Encinitas has propelled my growth, my silliness, and strength. Nothing but love for everyone at Evolve. This place is amazing! Found Evolve Yoga through Class Pass while I was trying out studios around San Diego county after moving here. After a couple of classes I decided to make this studio my yoga/fitness home. Fitness and I have had a shaky relationship since I stopped conditioning for school sports. I took a few years off and got very acquainted with my couch because I am guilty of not enjoying traditional work outs. However, I truly enjoy going to this studio every time. I always feel challenged here and at the same time just where I need to be all while just having fun with everyone. Anna the cofounder was a dance major and it shows, her practice is playful, beautiful and unique just like the classes. An FYI, the sculpt classes are intense, but it's all good because we struggle together, and maybe this is apart of how this place feels like a community. read more

This is the best yoga studio- hands down! I go most days of the week but never get sick of the classes. They're challenging, building strength and confidence but you also leave extremely grounded. I thought I was over yoga until I found Evolve. Anna and Chris are the best! read more

The owners, instructors, and students are all so welcoming! The music is awesome too. I have the lower back of an 80 year old man, and I finally decided that I needed to try something to strengthen my core and improve my flexibility because I kept pushing a bit too far with weights and then I'd be sidelined for 2 weeks while my back recovered. I've been hesitant about pursuing yoga because I'm not really looking for my chakras (whatever that might mean), and I didn't want to be forced to find them. They do not force anything on you, and they let you do your thing as far as the chakras go. I've been going to the EVO sculpt classes and beginner beats mostly. The EVO (sculpt) classes are high energy, have variety, and provide a challenging workout. Thank you Anna and Brittanee! I have tried other hot yoga practices, and I just floundered at the back of a crowded room trying not to interfere with my neighbor. The beginner beats class is the first time I had an instructor guide me and give me some less gumby-like options. Thank you, Ashley! If you're anywhere close to this place and you don't check it out you're doing yourself a disservice. I consider myself a pretty fit fellow... an athlete even. I took the sculpt class today with Anna Spalding and it was incredible. Extremely challenging but doable for anyone, regardless of fitness level because although she pushes you, she gives options and makes everyone feel comfortable. I can't remember the last time I sweated so much and got so much out of a workout. Thank you evolve yoga and movement and thank you Anna!!! I'll be sure to try other classes soon. Evolve is a hidden gem in Encinitas. Owned by 2 of the nicest people you will ever meet, I've not only improved my yoga practice but made lifelong friends here! Ana's Sunday morning class is the best yoga class I've ever had in my life. Her positive energy and the music is a transformative experience and my weeks are always better when I get to start them with this yoga class. I also love the 10:30 DJ Sculpt class taught by Ana and Chris. Each time I've done that class, I've left completely energized and then sore for the next 4 days -- seriously the best work out I've ever had! I'm in love with this studio! So far I have only taken two classes (Ashley and Brittanee - Basic Yoga Beats) and they were two of the best yoga classes I have had in a long time. The studio is super welcoming and super healing. During class I was thinking this studio should be called renew because of how I felt after each class. Evolve works too, hopefully I see some evolution as my practice grows. They also have sculpt and hip hop classes, and a live DJ on Sunday morning which sounds amazing! read more

I took a trial week with Evolve Yoga Studio at Encinitas. I tried different classes, like EVO sculpt, evoLve yoga, Prana surf and Hip Yoga Hope. It's definitely a fusion mix of yoga, dance and fitness, all of this it gives motivation to work out, lots of fun, and body is getting fit and shaped really fast. I liked a lot the warm temperature during the classes it helped my muscles to be more flexible. I like the positive and friendly atmosphere there. I had an amazing chart with Anna, she is founder and one of the teachers. I had classes with Anna, Denise, Chris, Meg and Zaquia. All teachers were great. I really had lots of fun during modern dance class with Anna even my moves were not always correct. And great location of the studio in the heart of Encinitas it's just near Whole Foods. I'm still a new to the place and my schedule is not clear yet I'm not ready to do membership in my current situation, but I'll definitely will take single classes till the moment I'll be more settled here. After hearing my friend rave about this studio, I had to go to an Evolve class during my visit to Encinitas. It blew my expectations out of the water! I've been to a ton of hot yoga + sculpt classes and this was absolutely one of the best. Chris delivered a butt-kicking sculpt class that worked every muscle. I loved the heat - everybody (even southern californians) need to warm up in the winter :) Not only was the class amazing, but Chris and Anna have created a studio where you immediately feel welcome and at home as soon as you walk in. I absolutely love Anna Spalding. I have been following her from studio to studio for many years. I'm absolutely thrilled she found in her permanent home in Encinitas. The reason I love her and Evolve is each class is different-you never get bored. The music is amazing and the teachers are always inspirational-never judgmental on what your level is. Recently attended the EVO Boot Camp sculpt with Anna and live DJ. It was my first time at the studio, and I was given a heartfelt friendly greeting by the owner Anna. She remembered my name to the end of the class, and seemed to know everybody's names. Remarkable! The class was fun and lived up to the name Boot Camp and sculpt. There were plenty of planks and Burpee's, but also Pilates inspired core exercises, with the added challenge of weights and yoga blocks. The DJ added a great mood and motivation to the class. The best part of the class, was Annas unending energy, her queuing, her strong motivational ability combined with a unique caring and nonjudgmental attitude, that is hardly ever found in instructors. I left invigorated, drenched and very accomplished, after having endured an hour of this class in 90° heat!i only wish i had known about the heat... It is not clear in any of the literature or online class description...:( read more

Anna is largely the reason why this place is so great and people love it. Perhaps one of the most charismatic instructors out there, she'll push you to your limit to deepen your practice but at the same time have you laughing the whole time. She's the instructor who actually cares, and really tries to build a relationship with everyone that comes in the door. read more

Wow, I stumbled upon a gem! For those visiting or living in San Diego, I can't recommend a yoga studio more than Evolve Yoga. I practice regularly in Boston, and I was lucky enough to be referenced to Evolve. Anna was my instructor - she was skilled and experienced! Can't wait to go back for round 2! read more

I'm trying different studios around Encinitas and I'm sad to say this wasn't one of my favorite. Let me frame that first saying I'm intermediate level and sort of a newcomer to hot yoga (although this was not my first class). First of all we were delayed due the previous class not finishing on time. The front desk person was lovely and apologetic about the delay. Bathroom and cubbies in this studio are on the other side of the yoga room, meaning you can't reach it while there's another class going on. This meant it took another 5-10 minutes to get the class going. The floor was sticky and had huge dust bunnies. I took a class that was advertised as "open level" on classpass app but it was definitely geared towards advanced students. The instructor was really attentive to the advanced students, corrected their poses, sported then on difficult moves, gave them encouragement, etc. She completely ignored me as if to reinforce the fact that I did not belong with this group. In most open level I have experienced, instructors provide alternatives for those who are not able to do head stands, etc but there was not such thing in this class. So this studio may be for you if you're awesome in yoga and don't mind a little sticky floors. read more

I grew up in Encinitas and have yoga-hopped my way around my whole life. Especially in recent years, with a yoga studio on every corner. But these days I find myself magnetized back to Evolve Yoga. I took the DJ Yoga class on Sunday morning with Anna and it was one of my favorite yoga classes i've taken in a while. The music was amazing and Anna gave incredible adjustments and led a great flow. If I didn't live in San Francisco i'd be there all the time! Can't wait to come back. read more
