We are so grateful to Sherry for being the most incredible dance instructor! She not only managed…read moreto teach two engineers how to dance (so trust us, she can teach anyone!) but did so with such kindness, patience, and grace. We were initially skeptical about learning remotely, but it ended up being the best possible way for us to learn! Sherry made the virtual experience so convenient, flexible, and surprisingly fun. Her ability to break things down and guide us step by step was just as effective as being in the same room--and it allowed us to practice comfortably at home on our own schedule. Sherry is an absolute gem--a beautiful soul who is so passionate about what she does, and it shines through in every lesson. She turned something we were nervous about into one of the highlights of our wedding preparation. Working with Sherry was such a joy, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide to help us prepare for our first dance. If you're looking for someone to help you feel confident, have fun, and create something truly special, Sherry is your person. We can't recommend her enough!

Fi I was a little nervous to start, having never done a dance class, but Sherry eased my nerves in the first 10 minutes. She has the ability's to explain in a way that makes sense to both of us, even though my wife and I may not be thinking the same thing. I was also concerned about the virtual lessons, but in reality that was much better. You have the comfort of you own house with the individual teaching. It felt more like Sherry was at our house than us being at her studio. I think that made a huge difference and lessened my anxiety and made the learning much easier. We have learned the fox trot, east coast swing, and the jitterbug. Now were are transitioning to the Latin styles. I would highly recommend Sherry. She makes the lessons fun and low stress. I would have never ventured out to a club for a night of dancing without her support. Now we are going dancing a couple nights a month.

We tried a few lesson programs here (we're not great and definitely need instruction!) and ultimately, we really struggled to find a great environment to learn to dance in Denver. But just recently, we found Swingin' Denver! We dropped in for an advanced Lindy Hop lesson last night and loooved it! The instructors are really good dancers and the lessons are challenging - which is much needed for us since we've had a year and a half break from any instruction/social dances/practice whatsoever. The instructors are friendly and dedicated to creating a friendly, inclusive, active swing dance community in the Denver area. They appear to plan several social dances (some with DJs but some with live bands - which are the best kind of social dances). At the conclusion of each class, the instructors videotape the moves and post them on Youtube, which is great since my husband and I love to practice. I'm really excited to attend future classes - maybe I'll even check out a Balboa class. If you're looking for Lindy Hop instructors, I highly recommend Swingin' Denver!

They run bi-weekly dances and major events with workshops, live music, performances and more. They have major community outreach in several neighborhoods in Denver and the suburbs. If you want to learn vintage swing dancing (jitterbug, lindy hop), see great jazz bands, or just attend an amazing themed event, follow Swingin' Denver on social media. Don't miss out!

There's a lot of cement and dark paint and cinderblocks. There are no creature comforts except for a pot of coffee and a drinking fountain. So keep that in mind if you like a glass of wine before the theater. As always - the productions are usually classic and exceptional. So if you are a true theater aficionado, this is exactly what you're looking for! It is theater set in the rawest conditions, and there is something very artsy about that!

Also, I found the seating at Germinal to be much more comfortable than at a lot of other similar venues. So, what should you expect? Well, when they say they're a minimalist theater, they're not kidding! The sets leave quite a bit to your imagination, but (from what I've seen) the acting more than makes up for it. Insider tip: Check their website for specials, as they do run 2-1 tickets, meaning you could see a show for under $12. There is a small lot behind the theater, but just plan on street parking. Also, if you have a choice, bring your clunker. The neighborhood is a little iffy. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Germinal, and I'm looking forward to going back.
