I haven't gotten my nails done in a while, and I just moved to the area so I was excited to find a nail salon near my new home. Making the appointment was easy and simple on the phone. It was short notice but they still got me in before the end of the night. I think it was the owner that did my nails and I just felt this awkward energy between us when he started my full set. I felt like some of my nails could have been more worked on and some of the nail polish was dried up so it left particles on my nails. I also still had skin around my nail that needed removal, and when I asked him once more if he could remove a piece of skin he kind of chuckled at me. If I'm paying for your service I think I should be able to ask how I want my nails done and they should be done efficiently. If you look from a far, they don't look too bad but if you look close up it needs some touch ups. I don't know if it's my OCD or if he could have done better but overall I'm still on the hunt for a positive, vibing, salon, in this area. Hope to find it soon! Most unfriendly place I have ever been- I would have overlooked that if they had done a good job. My dip usually lasts 3 weeks without chipping - this was my first (and last time going to Excel) - first nail chipped the second day - a week in and at least 4 nails are chipped or broken. Made an appointment for my daughter and I She sat through my entire pedicure waiting to be seen then they came and said they could no longer do her nails because they had made appointments for other people. I was also very unimpressed with the pedicure. As we were leaving two walk ins came in. They took them to do their nails. I'm not sure how they could continue to take walk ins but could not finish our appointment. We will not be back. read more

I have been going to this salon for the last few years since I moved to VT and typically I get good service. Today was the exception, I was greeted rudely with "Why you always late" upon walking through the door! Firstly, I am not typically late for appointments.... I got stuck in traffic that morning and was a few mins late. Okay, they accommodated me which was nice of them ( which btw I am usually the one waiting for them ). They then proceeded to do a terrible job, one of my hands every nail tip is on an angle! I've been visiting this nail shop for a year and have debating what review to give. Importantly: the work they do is amazing. Kelly does the BEST set I've ever had. I live in NYC and time my visits home to get her to do my nails. They're very well done. That said, the wait time is outrageous. The only reason to make an appointment is to prevent them turning you away. They take a lot of walk-ins and don't consider an appointment. Even with an appointment, I wait on average 45 minutes, if not longer. Additionally, if you're talkative this isn't the place. I would have given this place 5 stars because Kelly and Henry do a great job, but unfortunately it's the time and appointments that made the stars drop. I've been coming here for 10 years and they are usually always behind schedule but that's ok I've adapted and accept it, well today really bothered me because I called for an appointment and was told to not be late, ME be late?? always always call if I can't make it or I'm going to be late, and today he told me to not be late, so I was like ok no problem. Here is the kicker I showed up even a couple minutes early and was asked to wait 15 minutes, which I had no problem with, but what really did it in was you tell me not to be late then I am WAITING.....it doesn't work one way. I have been to numerous nail salons ranging from Maine to NY all the way down to the DC and Maryland area. There's not much competition around here so people think excel is acceptable but it is not. John used to be the owner and it was okay, the new male owner is awful. The place is dirty. They've used dirty cuticle cutters and files on me but I was too nervous to say anything. They are polite on the phone but very rude in person. I had been going about every two weeks for at least 4 months and I was disappointed every time. They rush and do a shameful job. They are constantly overbooking and receiving angry customers. I recently booked a gel manicure, when I got there I confirmed it was a gel manicure and was told to pick my color. When he finally got to me 30 minutes after my scheduled appt because he had triple booked 2 other girls for the same time including myself, he only filed my nails then started to paint. Never pushed back my cuticles or any of the works. When he "finished" painting, the polish was blotchy. When he finished he did not put lotion or anything on. Just told me to wash my hands. Then I walk up to the register and he tells me $20 for everything which is his price for a nail polish gel change and polish. I had no polish on my nails and I asked for a manicure I stated. He then proceeded to yell at me and argue about how I never told him gel polish manicure. He was very unprofessional and embarrassing as a business owner. I stated he had already done the deed and it was over and paid the bill. I will not be returning to this facility. I have given it numerous opportunities from 2010-2017 and I am done. read more

This place does a good job but don't take the time to call and make an appointment they over book, and in the mean time take in walk ins so when you do come for your appointment, they have taken others so you have to wait for an appointment you made. I called and make an appointment every time so I know I get it, but to this place they don't care whether your a walk in or an appointment every person through that door is money and they don't care about time and making clients wait. It's rude and very disrespectful and unfortunately even though they do a great job having to wait is very disrespectful. I made an appointment for 6:00 today they have 5 people working 3 of them are doing pedicures and the others are doing nails. In walks two girls after me for a fill just like me and they both have 6:00 appointments. It's now 6:06 and all three of us are waiting because they are all busy.
