Etc and Excel Speech. All PT/OT/ST is through one entry to one office. My daughter comes here for speech therapy. She, and I, love Excel Speech. Her therapist, Miss Susan, is really wonderful. Miss Susan is dynamic in her approaches, open-minded and quick to change course if that's what's necessary for the advancement of my daughter's skills. When my son got approved for services here by Easter Seals I should of known going to this place would of been a nightmare . I had to call first of all to even get my son who is autistic speech services started. Then we had to wait 6 months for his second hour of speech to finally be started because this place is so short staffed . I took my son in for his regularly scheduled speech session which is 45 min clinical time and is suppose to go until 4:15 when the therapist brings my son out at 4 and tells me she is done . Brianna is her name . I let her know that she was out way too early and he had until 4:15 . She said that she had until 4pm on the schedule and I finally asked to speak to her manager . She comes back out with her computer not her manger like I asked and started arguing with me about the time allotted. I was upset at this time . She along with other staff unless the manger is lieing went back and told their owner Catherine I cussed her out which is not true. I then get a phone call the next day at 430 which my son has his scheduled speech session for 5 from the owner Catherine Luis who tells me my son is being discharged from there facility bc I yelled and cussed at the therapist. She states it's in their policy if a parent does this they can refuse services .im sorry since when are you not allowed to get upset?Mind you I have never had an issue before with them I explained this to Catherine who could care less. She even hung up on me . I went down to the facility to obtain a copy of the policy and no where in there was any of this mentioned . The real problem is this place is understaffed and besides that no actual speech therapist work there! They are all SLPA's which they don't tell you in the first place . The other problem is this place is the only speech facility that services Chula Vista. She had two people going out on leave and someone else leaving no wonder she looked for any excuse to kick a parent and their autistic child out of services . I also want to thank Briana for lying about the incident saying I cussed and you know that not true not only that you lied about the time you ended session . You came out at 4 we both looked at the clock and you even continued to say his allotted time was 30 min on your schedule when that wasn't correct. Who knows what else this SLPA would lie about. I hope Brianna feels great about causing a gap in my sons speech services.You should also know how to handle an upset parent your gonna come across plenty time to get thick skin . This place doesn't care how they affect your child don't go here. And Catherine says she has a child with a disability as well but I doubt that and if she does she's heartless . Everybody needs to read this!! If you are being referred to this provider by your insurance company, do yourself a favor and request a different location!!! I wasted about 3 to 4 weeks trying to get my daughter an appointment here. Every time I would call there was either no answer, no response to my voicemails, or I was told that I would get a call back and then ZERO! Very unprofessional and rude. After reading the other reviews I realized that I'm not the first person to experience this. Seems like they don't really care much about new clients. Worst experience ever... I received my sons referral and called 2 times in one week to make an appointment and was told I would get a call back each time and never got one, then a week later I call again and get an appointment which was for today. I called to confirm and was hung up on 2 times before I could even say hello, then told sorry your appointment isn't for today. So this review is for the Chula Vista branch specifically. I am hear to echo the other reviews about the unprofessionalism exhibited by this location from the front end staff and office staff. I feel like they are running a bait and switch operation. When you first communicate with this company they set unrealistic expectation, "2 week wait and schedule 2 weeks out", so was expecting to have my son seen for speech therapy in around 4-5 weeks. However, when the end of week four came around the story was, "waiting on tricare" "we are still scheduling people form July". I really do think it is pretty unacceptable as a business to set unrealistic expectations and then try to pass the buck. A note to my fellow tricare beneficiaries. If the referral from your PCM auto generates to go to this branch I would highly recommend you give tricare a call at 1-844-866-9378, and get your authorization switched to a provider of your choice (in network for those on prime). It is a really quick process, about 6 minutes on the phone and then waiting for the authorization to be faxed in about 30 minutes and then you won't have to go through this nightmare of unrealistic expectations, broken promises, and waiting at home in the dark while your children do not get the services they need. While I can't speak to the quality of the actual services. I can speak to the fact there are several other providers in the area that would be a much better choice for you when it comes to scheduling if you have open availability. read more

First of all I noticed a lot of people saying" it's hard to get in there" and that's probably true, if it wasn't great there wouldn't be a wait... The best things come to those who wait and I can go on and on, but I think you get the jest!!!! yes it may be a little challenging at first to get an appointment/the timeslot you want, but I can assure you this "once you get in there you are going to be amazed".... I have had the pleasure of working with three therapist from this agency over the last six years. I moved away and have recently moved back and yep even I am on the waiting list (reality) ..... but I know it's worth the wait..... so let me start out by saying if you are lucky enough to be paired with the therapist Brianna Sanchez you are going to be floored at how much your child will learn.... my son only knew the sign for more before he started working with her and now he does sentences. he's nonverbal and use signs. I would like to say that if your child is more at the severe end of the spectrum she's the right therapist for you !!!!!they're all great like I said I've either had subs from in there or had other therapist over the years, and all of them seem to have the same core values, which is to help your child become his or her very best... Please try to remember you're not the only parent with a kiddo with speech,PT or OT issues, there are a lot of us, and so yes the waiting time and the schedule may not be perfect but they do try and they do understand. For you new parent I know this journey is scary and it seems like the faster you get started the faster it will be better, but it's going to be a long process and you have plenty of time to get in the grove of things. one of the things you'll need to live by example to aid your kiddo in thirteen journey is patients. In regards to autism there's no quick fix, there's no overnight success so take your time absorb everything they teach you everything they work on implement it home and you will see success .... I was told my son wouldn't be capable of even using picture exchange or signs because of where he's at on the spectrum but through time and perseverance good therapist and putting into use all the things I've been taught " my son communicates way beyond the expectations he was initially given " I guess what I'm trying to say is never give up... if they've missed your call or you've played phone tag it wouldn't hurt (and I know they don't get offended ) if you just pop into the office and kind of see where you stand ? some of you might be saying that's a bit above and beyond, but that's reality, the whole journey is going to be a bit above and beyond!!!!! you might as well start now.... again I would highly recommend this agency I personally love them I will gladly answer any questions you have for me just message me. I don't take recommending anything lightly I would not steer another parent (in my shoes) in a wrong direction.... I've been going here for some months now. My son didn't really like going here. I'm sure it was because of his therapist that did not seem so kid friendly she looked annoyed with him. I contacted the owner about my concerns. She responded right away and changed my son to a different therapist. I am so happy with the change. My son likes going to every session now, and I can hear an improvement in his speech. I have a much better outlook on this place. My daughter has been receiving OT and PT services from OT etc and PT in Motion in Kearny Mesa for the past 10 years, and I cannot be happier with the level of expertise, professionalism and attention that my child is getting. The front office in Kerny mesa location offers amazing customer service, so I was surprised to read some negative reviews about the issues in Otay Mesa location. Hard to believe. Of course, over the past 10 years there have been some changes in the staff and therapists and schedules, but most parents understand that it's inevitable, and some changes cannot be controlled by managers and owners. All of the sudden changes have always been well communicated and addressed in a timely manner. I always felt that my child is a priority. The therapists are amazing. Each 30-minute session is broken down into three target areas/ toys. They have a way of holding the kid's attention and sustaining it. My son has been coming here (and to OT Etc) for over two years. I really love the staff here. They are always kind and they really care about their clients. My son has seen Miss Lindsay first and then Miss Susan (both for Speech) here and he's made so much progress with them. My son loves them. You can tell that any and all staff members here love their job and work hard for each child. That they care how my son is as a person not just a job. That they know they are making a difference. I cannot say enough good things about our son's speech therapists, Nicole Rosner. She has been providing one-to-one speech therapy twice weekly to our boy for nearly three years. We are sad to have to end our services with her due to a change in our insurance. I feel like I'm losing a speech therapist (for my son) and a great friend too. When I first brought our young son to Excel Speech, newly diagnosed with autism at 18 months old, I was in desperate need of someone who could help our little guy to communicate with us, to tune in to what we and others were saying to him and to be able to tell us how he feels, what he needs, and what he wants. From the first therapy appointment until now I have been impressed again and again by how hard Nicole works. She is highly energetic and enthusiastic, not to mention very patient. Nicole took on the challenge of working with our son in a play-based setting and quickly won him over. She has been dependable (never missed any of our 250+ appointments!), trustworthy, respectful, and always professional. I appreciate the feedback she provided immediately following my son's sessions. Somehow she always found something positive to say even if he had been difficult that particular day. Nicole has gone far beyond just helping our son speak and listen better - which in itself is a miracle! But with her constant investment of energy, love, professional know-how, and creativity, Nicole has helped him to enjoy life more. Our son's improved communication has improved our family dynamics and strengthened the bond between him, me, my husband and our other children. During the time that our son received speech therapy at Excel Speech, he also saw a second speech therapist, Amy O'Loughlin, for about a year. Amy was great at engaging Joseph and keeping him on task. Her approach and style are different than those used by Nicole, but were also effective in getting Joseph to interact, sing, and speak. Amy is smart and friendly. You can tell that she is very invested in the children she sees. I felt like she was and still is excellent at communicating with parents and utilized various techniques to help our son progress in his therapy goals. She welcomed me to observe anytime I wanted and showed interest in any questions I asked and comments I made. I liked the way Amy and Nicole worked collaboratively on our son's progress reports. I got the sense that behind-the-scene they were very on top of reporting deadlines and paperwork required by our insurance company. Their work minimized my stress and kept me from having to worry about pursuing his re-authorizations from our insurer myself. As for Excel Speech, I found the company to be well-run and efficient. I never had billing problems and got along well with Dana and the other front office staff. My now 2 1/2 year old son attended speech therapy for approximately 10 months at Excel. During that 10 months he saw Amy who was by far an EXCELLENT speech therapist. She was always patient and fair with my son. Not only did she teach him numerous skills to help him improve his communication and speech including sign language, but she also taught myself and his dad techniques to communicate with him more effectively. I cannot thank Excel enough for all of the hard work they put in with my son, and because of them he is where he needs to be today. I am forever grateful for everything that they have done and would highly recommend this place to anyone I know in need of assistance. I read some of the other reviews and noticed that there are some negative reviews about the time it takes to make an appointment. Yes they are definitely very busy, but I hope this will not stop people from seeking their help because the wait is well worth it. read more
