Disappointed by Weekend Experience Despite Great Past Visits My daughter and I have visited Excel multiple times over the past year for school physicals, labs, and X-rays, and we've always had a great experience--especially with Ms. Abernathy, who has consistently been professional, efficient, and kind. However, my most recent visit over the weekend was deeply disappointing. I came in around 9:10 AM, right as the office opened, needing a physical done urgently. The front desk staff member seemed noticeably reluctant to assist, even though the office wasn't busy. She told me, "Dr. Okonji is not here," in a dismissive tone, as though I was there for a casual visit. Then she added, "I don't think Bola will do it," without any explanation or attempt to clarify who Bola was. I had to suggest she at least ask. She briefly went to the back and returned to say they couldn't do it and advised me to go to my PCP--as if I hadn't already considered that option before coming to urgent care. As someone who works in healthcare myself, I understand policies and constraints, but I also know the value of being responsive and empathetic--especially in urgent care settings where patients often don't have the luxury of waiting for a PCP appointment. This experience was a stark contrast to the professionalism I've previously received at Excel, and I hope it's addressed so other patients don't feel similarly dismissed read more

Their staff ! I have been waiting an hour just to take a drug screen . All i have to do is pee in a cup , they don't update you on how much longer you have to wait . I think they are back there taking breaks in between each person they call to the back ! read more

I can't say enough good things about excel urgent care in Missouri City TX. I have been going to this urgent care for years. I have always been treated very respectful. The staff has always been nice and helpful. I went in on 3/17/25 and they were busy. Lots of people waiting. i waited longer than I ever had, but when I got to the back. I could also tell they were short handed. These ladies were were working efficiently and quickly to help each other and help the patients. The best part was that, my favorite doctor was working. Dr. Catherine Okanji is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She is very thorough, very personable, & caring. No matter how behind they are, you are NEVER rushed. You, the patient are her top priority. I feel better just seeing her. She is that kind of person. read more

Kindness and compassion go a long way. I always come here for all of my urgent needs. I literally live a stones throw away. I have always been pleased with the service they provide here. Today, I was beyond impressed. The receptionist is always so kind. I have never seen her in a bad mood or standoffish. She always greets with a warm smile. No matter how busy or dry the day is going. Her smile makes you feel more calm even when you are struggling with sickness. The MA or nurse that took us back was also very attentive. She made many efforts to calm my baby down. She was very thorough with her data collection. She was also very warm and kind. You just don't see this anymore. Nice people, who look happy and content with their jobs and deliver good care. I'm in the health industry myself and I have seen all kinds of things. But I can say this: Excel Urgent Care - you guys are doing something right. Please keep up the good work. read more

I've been going to Excel Urgent Care for numerous years. I have always received excellent care. Dr. Okonji, Dr. Bola, and another doctor provide excellent care, and their bedside skills are outstanding. The front desk staff is always kind and happy to help, and they can answer any questions or concerns you may have about benefit coverage and costs. I recently used the intravenous drip service, and it was quite calming. The facility is always clean! read more

Unfortunately, the office staff for any establishment can "make or break" a business. The office staff instead of going the extra mile to verify INSURANCE Coverage was quick to swipe a bed it card and say self-pay which is absolutely wrong!! I went here twice, which is unfortunate but I have to say they are awesome. First was because I fell and hurt my arm. The medical professional that tended to my needs really was informative. I didn't wait to long and I'd say I was in and out of there in 1 hr. Better than being in the ER for sure! Second was for my son, it was nice that she offered and explained the reasons why its best for the ER over the visit there and I appreciated that. They didn't have the test for RSV but they did have a COVID test, which was my first worry. Which. I'm glad we did take the nurse's advice and went to the ER. Overall, wait time varies, depending on how busy it is. The lady at the front seems rude because she starts off that way, but throw a smile her way and she changes. This place is trash, the whole experience was horrible, still waiting on results to this day, ok 24 hours. I called several times left messages and still haven't heard back from them, let them know that I did test for COVID by taking two hommy visit was 8-7-2024. I had to come to a different urgent care just to get results ASAP so I can get medication for COVID. I would not recommend this place to anyone, please stay away. read more

I noticed it is a common practice for folks who handle the payment at the front desk to tell me my insurance was verified, and I did not meet my deductible. Instead of saying they did not verify the insurance and charge a fee upfront while waiting on payment, they spread misinformation. I was only suppose to pay $33 for an office visit. They charged me $180 after lying about verifying my insurance and making up a story about following a contract they have with my insurance company. My rep from my insurance company was sympathetic that they lied to me. Because they have no record of Excel calling in on every visit to verify my insurance. I just want my money back that is owed to me. It is fraud to accept payment from the insurance company that was owed and collect money from me. This is double dipping. I am definitely not giving them my business anymore. read more

I have been going to this Urgent Care clinic for about a year now. They accept VA Community Care and they have always been very caring and thorough. They took care of me when I had COVID-19 and they are always there for me during my Polyarthritic flare ups!! The staff and the physicians are very nice and extremely knowledgeable. The wait time to be seen is standard compared to any other Urgent Care Clinic and the wait is definitely faster than any ER I've been to. They take all precautions when it comes to COVID-19 to ensure other patients in the waiting room are not exposed and the facility is always clean. I have no complaints about this Urgent Care Clinic and I would recommend it. read more

Stay away from this place. Extremely slow. Only 1 physician on staff daily. Family member waited in the exam room 1 hour before the physician even came into the room. Once the physician came in the only the only thing he says is " You need to see an eye doctor". He did not even give her drops or a prescription for her eye. Our family has used this urgent care unit many times. We are always greeted cheerfully, treated with personal, professional care, and sent away with confidence that our needs were met. In particular, we are thankful for Dr. Catherine Okanji. She cares for us as if we were her very own family. The front staff is so nice! I'd like to shout out Jose (hopefully I remembered his name correctly) who worked the front. He was extremely nice and patient when I asked him questions. There was a little bit of a wait but that is normal is any emergency clinic and I didn't have a problem with it. My doctor, Dr Cornell, is really nice and made me feel comfortable. Location Missouri City - I went their ofc last Friday for Covid19 test. I called my insurance co. to find out what my co-pay would be and was informed that there is no co-pay needed for this test. However, when I arrived, they insisted they needed a copay and tried to assure me they would return it once my insurance co paid them. I told them I just spoke to my insurance co and they told me the test was covered 100% and no co-pay needed. She put me on hold for a few minutes then said OK but we need a credit card from you, it's just our policy. I didn't really want to do this but after being exposed to the virus I was anxious & eager to have the test, so I gave my cc to them. To mention, my aunt went to this same location the night before and had her swab/test done. The swab test was administered in my car and I was told the test results would come back in 3-5 days. This is day 8 and I do not have test results back. I have called multiple times and they promise to look into and call me back but have not done called me back one time. I really think they somehow lost the test or the lab lost the test. I have little to no faith in them at this point. My daughter in-law and cousin had the test the same day as me at different facilities and both received their results 2 days ago. My aunt who used same Excel facility as me also received her results back 2 days ago. Staff is sweet as pie when you call but absolutely no follow through on what they say they are going to do, even after speaking to manager Lisa. At this point I am passed the 14 day of exposure & have self quarantined so fairly certain I do not have it as I have zero symptoms. This experience really took me by surprise. Their lack of care is not something I want in a healthcare provider. I will never go back there and recommend you give it some serious thought before you go here, even if they are on your insurance plan. There are other places to go. read more

I will write my experience with the Covid Curbside testing . They told me to get there before 7PM I got there at 6:40PM. And I got seen at 9 PM mind you when I got there I let them know and there was nobody outside . So I stayed in my car waited . I had to keep calling because they kept saying they will be with me in 10 minutes. Yet around like 5 people were going in and were being seen before me . It's been a week since I'm waiting on my test . My cousin also told me when she got her results back they had already had them days ago they just never called and she had to keep calling . Anyways this was my first time here and it will be my last This is very frustrating. I have no symptoms at all I just need a confirmation. But I do want to say Laura has been very patient with me I call daily to see my results came in but I also seen another review below me that are having the same issue . read more

I have been here several times either for a minor emergency or because my PCP could not get me in. I have had nothing but good experiences with the staff and doctors. People who complain about slow service must have never been to a real ER. Unless you have heart palpitations, they take forever. Regular doctors run late all the time too, even if there is no one in the waiting room. Having to spend only a small copay versus the ER copay, I will continue to use Excel Urgent Care as a backup to my regular doctor and specialists. read more

Do NOT come here...they are super slow. 40 minute wait time in the lobby and over 20 minutes in the exam room. I usually go to Next Level Urgent Care down the road, but there was an accident on Highway 6 so I came here. I'm being generous with the one star. I'd been horribly ill and the urgent care center we usually use had a 3 hour wait, so I went here out of desperation. I gave them my insurance card and they called me to the front telling me my insurance couldn't be processed because nobody was answering at the insurance company, therefore I had to pay $350 before I was seen. They also wanted to put my credit card on file so that they could charge me more at a later date if needed instead of billing me. That was a red flag to me. Add in the two receptionists filing, trimming & painting their nails when I arrived (with 3 Other people waiting in the waiting room)...the entire place just felt shady. My husband had me go to the ER because at least there id get what I paid for. read more

Honestly, there is nothing "urgent" about this place. I went in for a drug screening and waited for almost 1.5- 2 hours. There's no reason for this facility to be considered urgent care by any means. My employer had already provided them will all the required information, so everything should've already been set. Horrible place! Don't go too late because if your issue will make them late to close....you're out of luck! But they still managed to swipe my card for payment at 8:54pm.
