The teaching curriculum is that of one that was simply taken from online and there's no creativity or hands-on learning experiences. They fire most of the school counselors especially if a student is bonding with them in a healthy way, and they do not know how to handle a crisis such as a school shooting, or a threat of. This school is a great school located in a great neighborhood. I highly recommend it to all. The staff is very helpful and friendly. When I had questions they were answered with kindness and everyone has a great attitude. The special education department is really good. It is amazing to see how the students and staff treat the kids who have disabilities. I've been to a lot of schools where the special education students are shunned to a corner of the school. Here the kids all eat together in the same area and are well received. On the physical education fields the kids all get along well. Middle school is a hard age for kids and it is nice to see a clean campus where everyone seems friendly. I was walking out of the gate and some of the students asked if I needed help because my hands looked full. It was nice to see the respect.

Contrary to UP's cited requirements (3.0 GPA or higher, no suspensions or excessive discipline…read morereports, etc.) Principal Valerie Hatcher rejected my son's application without hesitation. My soon-to-be Junior had a rocky Freshman year (which he's made up for), and now boasts a 3.82 GPA, and is slated to graduate early! Regardless of his current status, Ms. Hatcher concluded my son didn't meet UP's requirements because of a D on his 9th grade transcripts! It's pathetic that a school would dismiss a student's tenacious effort and progress because of a less than satisfactory FRESHMAN grade. Not only is there a transition phase kids face when moving from Jr High to High School, but these kids were also coming from virtual learning, mask requirements, etc. The district should really take these scenarios into consideration, and review UP's admission requirements - both published and unpublished.

The problem is that I returned the items in question and all scanned on my account at the time. Instead of getting my diploma when I went to the school, the school reduced the amount they claimed I owed from $450 to $100, which only increased my concern that it's completely inaccurate. As a student who worked hard academically it was extremely disappointing to have my diploma withheld over charges that I believe were based on incorrect records. I would encourage the school to improve its checking skills and give proper assistance through incorrect processing.

They were already really helpful on the phone and have a great website, but in person even better. We filled out all the forms and he got to start the next day! I was told some of the schools were too full and they don't always get the closest school but they managed to place my son in a good school about 5 minutes from home. All is good here, your kids will be in good hands, they genuinly care, which is hard to find these days.

I was bullied by teachers and…read morestudents, my own friends were stuck up and loved more than me cause they were better at learning or had gave the school funds. i was at my all time low, i completely gave up on life, a 13 year old giving up cause of this school. they treat mental illnesses like a bad thing that is weird or unwelcomed. the bullying never was fixed due to the lack of discipline, they punished the bullied kids instead of the bully, I hate this school and it almost made me end it, but I'm lucky I got out of it and graduated from a better highschool.
