4/1 One day in the Summer of 2003 I stepped foot in Excelsior. The next day I came back and asked the owner to be my cleaners. John proudly said yes. I've been going to him ever since, except in only one occasion. I've never had a problem with my clothes and I've never had a problem with customer service. John provides pristine and high quality care every single time. My clothes come back perfectly clean, pressed, and handled with real professionalism. Reliability like this is rear! I love how I get compliments on my shirts, just the other day 4/4 someone asked was my shirt brand new. They said that they loved how my shirt looks. The services requested were laundry with mild starch, sometimes placed on hanger or sometimes pressed and folded and placed in a box waiting for pick up. My pants are always pressed with a perfect crease. The value is great here and not over charged. I went to a neighboring cleaners once because I was in a rush, they charged more and the shirt came back dirty. I guess it is good to know what the competitor is doing but lesson learned, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Inspire more, Yelp more! read more

The WORST dry cleaner ever!!! They claim to have lost my cashmere sweaters, Armani coat, and a very special afghan that my grandmother knitted for me. Items couldn't be replaced, and Excelsior has been ghosting me. I took them to small claims court and won although I couldn't put a price tag on my priceless items. I never dreamed I would have to sue a dry cleaner to get reimbursed for items that they claim were lost. read more

I've been loyal to Excelsior for tailoring needs, but (3) pieces of clothing have been returned to me with uneven hems in addition to the stitching completely falling out after only a few wears. For $20, you'd expect the thread to last longer (and for the pant legs to be the same height). I understand the handmade labor that goes into this work and would happily pay that if the cost reflected quality, but I shouldn't have to get clothing hemmed multiple times over only a few weeks. My family has been customers for over 50 years, superior business in our experience. My grandmother and mother have used this dry cleaners in LARCHMONT since it opened years ago with Jonny's Dad. I only trust Jonny with my clothing my families suits. He has cleaned and preserved wedding gowns for my sister and I. One wedding dress had a nice dip in the ocean and he preserved it looking brand new! He has altered all of our suits etc. In our vast experience with him, he has been top notch. read more

A mainstay of the community! We are glad to see Jonny and the rest of this lovely family business getting up and running after the fire. Excelsior does wonderful work on both everyday and specialty items, and approaches special requests with integrity. Plus the rest of the staff is great. Freddie the Presser is a genius. One time, Jonny matched a torn leather belt and buckle on a ten-year-old coat from France and made it all look new. And when a different, well-reviewed dry cleaner in Manhattan quoted a price of $500 dollars to clean a beaded Armani evening gown, Jonny said he could hand-wash it. Three out of 11 shirts that we dropped off were damaged in the exact same place from this dry cleaner. I dropped them off with an employee as the owner was not there to discuss. One week later, the owner still had not called so I called him. He complained he was "working by himself" all week long and so did not have time to address the issue. He said he needed to talk to someone else about the issue and I told him I wanted compensation and emailed him a receipt for the cost of the shirts. Two weeks after dropping off the shirts, he still had not called or emailed to discuss the issue. He finally emailed and said he was not responsible for the damage because all of the 5,000 shirts he cleaned during that same time would have the same damage. He also said he would return the shirts to me. I told him I would be taking him to small claims court for the cost of the shirts, and not paying his invoices. Weeks later, we STILL had not received the shirts, and when we went to pick up the shirts from an employee working at the store, and offered to pay the invoice in order to get the shirts, the owner refused (via telephone) saying he was "not at the office" and hung up the telephone. Absolutely unscrupulous and a liar to boot. Stay far away. read more

I've used Excelsior for years for dry cleaning and tailoring. I've never had a bad experience. I've actually had the owner call me after dropping off some items for alterations to make absolutely sure of what I needed done. Top notch quality and service. read more
