They have very convenient hours and service availability. I brought in a few items for dry cleaning and alterations, and I was able to be seen in less than 15 minutes. The dry cleaning items had a quick turnaround, just a day or so, while the alterations took about a week (which is also quick). Everyone who assisted me was friendly and attentive. The dry cleaning was competitively priced, but I did feel that the alterations were a bit high. I don't have much to compare with, other than evening gowns, but I was surprised that taking in the waist on a pair of pants was more expensive than those gowns in the past. The payment system was a bit confusing as well. I'll admit, I did not notice the signs inside the establishment that indicated "cash only," so that is my fault, but the electronic invoice that I was sent made it appear as though I could pay with card online. The website also does not have clear indication about payment types accepted. In a day and age when not many people carry cash or have paper checks anymore, this could be a drawback for people utilizing this business. read more

During my complaint, the owner/manager behaved in an intimidating and discriminatory manner, suggesting that I was a threat while exercising my rights as a customer. I wrote an honest but not flattering review of Nu-Way last summer but continued to use them occasionally because of convenience. And I continued to have problems this spring with shoddy workmanship. Recently, while leaving the store I was confronted by someone I believe to be one of the owners. He asked me if I'd written an unfavorable review on Yelp. I didn't really remember so I said I didn't think so, but he kept insisting that the information in the review was "too similar" to my experiences there for it not to have been me. So I said, "well, maybe," at which point, (NOW GET THIS!!!) HE ASKED ME TO GO BACK INTO YELP AND REMOVE THE REVIEW I'D WRITTEN!!! This is a very large dry cleaners. It's rare to see a physical shop quite this big. They do a fine job with dry cleaning but are ridiculously expensive. Cleaning a dress and a romper was $50. In some cases, the prices are more than I paid for the clothes. In addition, service at the counter can sometimes be slow here. Since they are so large, it can take awhile for them to search for your clothes. The cash only policy is also frustrating. I have to believe you can find better options for dry cleaning elsewhere. read more

I would absolutely recommend Nu-Way Cleaners! I moved into a building in White Plains and Nu-Way comes and picks up my dry cleaning and has it back the next day with amazing quality. Everything is neatly hung on sturdy hangers. My dress shirts have cardboard collars in them to keep they straight and the hangers for the pants have paper in between the clips so there are no lines. I purchased a flower girl dress from David's Bridal that turned out to be way too big. It also arrived with more wrinkles than a Shar Pei puppy. In a panic (the wedding is in two weeks) I brought it to Nu Way and asked if there was anything they could do. Well, they did and amazing job. It fits her perfectly and looks spectacular. Side note: The tailoring area is not like your typical cleaners. Most places you try something on behind a curtain, which never really closes properly, in an area that is 1' squared. Not this place. Two large dressing areas with benches. Also, the staff! So nice! The man that pinned her dress was so patient and gentle with a squirming 4 year old. If I could give them more stars I would. Could not be more thankful to Nu-Way cleaners! This was the "in house" cleaners at my old apartment complex in Stamford and they always did a good job so when I moved, I continued to use them. They are located in white plains but offer pick up and drop off service which is amazing. Yesterday I picked up a bridesmaid dress from the tailor with a stain on it and called Nu-way to see if they could help (wedding is tomorrow). They said if I could get it to them by 7am they would try. Well by 8:30 I got a call from Mike saying not only did they get the stain out, they are happy to drop my dress off so I don't have to come back to white plains. OMG I brought in 2 Tallit to be cleaned for my nephews Bar Mitzvah. It is about 120 years old the other is about 70. When the man brought them out and I lookeD at them I couldn't hold back the tears. Nu-way has very friendly staff, and seems to be a well oiled machine, however they are extremely over priced and not worth the money. I recently had some tailor work done which did not come out well (Sloppy stitching and improper placement.) After taking it to another local shop on Mamaroneck Avenue the other shop not only removed and fixed Nu-Ways work, they charged $10 less for the same job... Such a shame since Nu-Way is so much closer to my office. I doubt I will be back. read more

Nu-Way really came through for me. I had a uniform emergency on the day of my military gala. They understood the urgency and how to fix the botched alterations from another business. We used to live in the neighborhood and Nuway was our staple. Move to Somers New York but when we had to get the suit altered for the wedding in April we went right to a new way to have the job done expertly. That Ralph Lauren suit fit the father of the bride like a glove. They look great walking down the outside I'll on this sunny Saturday in April after the rain at night. However, my shoes didn't fare so well they were covered with mud and they are cloth/crapes shoes. Drove them down to Nu Way not expecting a miracle but I got one. They look just as good as new. However, some of the workers they employ (ie, non-family members) are quite rude and standoffish and should probably not be dealing directly with customers. Gave them a whole bunch of chances but they consistently either messed up the job, messed up the clothes, took too long to deliver (they once kept my jacket for over a month because "they went on vacation"), and charge an insane amount of money for their service. Not to mention, they don't take card except card on file. The final straw was when they tried to convince me that a damaged breast pocket on my suit jacket was "by the manufacturer's design." They damaged a few shirts I brought in one week - 4 shirts all damaged in the same exact part of the shirt and twist-tied together in one group - owner says "they must have been damaged like that before you brought them in" - LOL! The place I had purchased them never altered them and they were 20+miles away, so basically I was screwed. Just started using their services, and so far, so good: They come to my building, where I drop off my shirts. If I drop off my shirts super early, I'll get them back by the end of the day! If not, it's next day service. Shirts are $2 each, which is great! I have auto pay with them, so they just charge my credit card each month. No problems so far. I love how they use these cardboard collar things around the shirt collar. I only wear spread collars, so it makes the collar look great when you're wearing the shirt. They even repair your shirt buttons for free, if damaged. Funny thing is, I've never actually visited the place. Convenient, no? read more

I just called to ask about why my collar stays were not being placed back into my shirts after they are dry cleaned because I started to notice that most of my shirts no longer had collar stays in them. I was expecting for Nu Way to say "Oh sorry, we wil make sure we put them in from now on". Instead I was surprised to find out that they dont take out or put back in my collar stays and havent for the past year, I was just getting luck that they hadnt fallen out yet. When I found this out I was thinking to myself "Oh shoot now I have all these shirts and no collar stays, looks like I will have to buy some I guess, right?" Nope, the man I spoke to who I am assuming is the owner/manager said "Sir I am going to send a bag of collar stays to the front desk of your apartment building so you can pick them up tomorrow morning incase you forget to take them out from now on and so you can have them for the shirts that are missing them." Talk about putting the customer first! Thanks again, I appreciate it. It really is doing the little things that matter and for that reason I will always use NuWay as long as I am living in Westchester County.
