These guys are terrible at customer service, dishonest in their practices and they use any excuse to overcharge and play games and extort you for more work, They have actually had opportunities to make our issues right but instead have chosen to refuse to correct he issue despite being paid in full and after firing them have refused to remove themselves off of our permit in the hopes to force us to continue doing business with us. read more

Our bathroom exhaust fan was making noise and we have used exceptional electric previously so I trusted them to replace it. I called gave them the measurements but they installed the wrong size. I paid for installation and a fan. When I called they said they would come back out for an additional $150.00 AND I was supposed to buy my own fan. What? It was their mistake. Now I am required to pay twice. Reluctantly the owner, waived the installation fee and abruptly hung up on me. No chance to schedule the installation nothing, not exactly exceptional service. Finally when the technician installed the fan he said the office handles the refund of the fan. Bottom line if you expect exceptional to be the experts, they can't figure out the simple measurements given to them. They received good reviews, so I rolled with it. I made a phone call and set up an appointment pretty easily. The technicians have pretty flexible hours, and I was able to get one to come by before I left for work in the morning. After arriving, we also asked him to install two lights. He gave an extra quote for that based on what he was seeing, but was able to finish the job faster than expected! He revised the quote down to reflect the faster service. The team was extremely communicative with us the entire time. This electrician was the referral from our home warranty. I was very happy with their service! They scheduled the appointment right away. When they came, they fixed our minor issue in minutes and even took the time to look at some other electrical issues we had and answer all of our questions. They gave my fiancé the advice that one of our switches was live and told him what to do to get the light outside working. Don't let them waste your time. Asked for an estimate for a pretty simple job with about 30 feet of 220v wiring on a single wall inside the garage. A technician came out on Tuesday, looked at it, said he'd email me an estimate by the next day. Got nothing on Wednesday. Called them on Friday morning, was told that they were short one guy and I would likely have my estimate by the end of the day. It's now Tuesday and I still don't have anything. It's a good thing I also requested an estimate from J Bathe Electric (who were VERY friendly and gave me the estimate within 20 minutes). Exceptional Electric wasted my time because I had to stay home to get this estimate, don't let them waste yours too. Better options out there. read more

Used HomeAdvisor. Sent a guy out who was nice and got here quick, but obviously not equipped to handle the problem. Spent four hours and charged $365 to fix nothing. Waited days, then had to call for a receipt and to remind them to send proposal for re-wiring that guy said I would need/should get. After waiting so long, finally just started tinkering around with it. Lo and behold, fixed it. Didn't even have to get into the walls to find it. I'm definitely upset I was charged so much for nothing being found or fixed even after over four hours. Fixed it AND more in less than three hours and spent less than $100 to do so. They might be good for simple jobs, but definitely wouldn't suggest them for anything that even looks remotely involved. read more

I hired Exceptional Electric to fix a few violations which were found after a failed Occupancy Permit inspection for a rental prop. Kyle B. was the tech who replaced all of the unsafe knob and tube wiring and cleaned up existing electrical work on the circuit panel. The technician noted that the customer was messing with wiring. It's funny to me that the technician never noted why there would be a need for the customer to mess with the wiring. The technician was polite and courteous, but was not at all confident in his attempt to install the doorbell. It seemed to be very much a trial and error process that I eventually became involved in. The fact that a doorbell installation took 2 hours should tell you all you need to know. Why would someone ever call an electrician out just so they can follow behind them in an attempt to sabotage their work? Lesson learned on getting involved. read more

Exceptional came yesterday to replace my light switch. Since it was a 3 way switch (whatever that means lol), to be safe he replaced the other one. Since I had a whole hour, Kyle asked if there was anything else I needed done. I had him replace a wall outlet that was a little loose and discussed other work I might need done. This is my first experience with an electrician, being a new home owner. We had a non-functioning outlet in our kitchen. Exceptional electric was sent out through our home warranty company. Long story short, we paid the deductible once, but had to have them come back 3 more times to get to the real root of the problem. They were trying to work with us to get our home warranty to cover everything, but in the end it just ended up being that it was wired incorrectly, which the warranty doesn't cover. So I had them come out and fix it outside of the warranty, which was $170, which seems steep to me, but again I don't know anything about electrical, so it's worth it to me to have a professional do it, rather than me getting hurt trying to do it or making it worse. The really nice thing about them is that they get back to you for scheduling really quickly and have a lot of availability. The workers have always shown up on time and been pretty nice, although one of the younger guys didn't seem like he knew what he was doing as much as I'd like, but then again my house is over 100 years old and who knows how it was wired in the first place. So I would recommend just because they are the only ones I have experience with, but I can only give them 3 stars simply because it took 4 tries to get my outlet working (although I haven't tried it fully yet because I need to get a new light fixture for it). read more

Horrible, the problems we encountered were numerous, the worker was nice, but the work could have been better, leadership seemed to be the biggest problem. They made decisions on there own without consulting us (the homeowner) and then wanted to charge us to correct it back to how it was before they removed it. Fixing switches and removing switches are different things. He said he misquoted the job and would be losing money, over and over. Don't use their Drywall Service for repairs, it was the worst drywall work I have every seen in my life, it would be a negative 3 stars. They wanted to get final payment before the final electrical inspection, sorry, we don't provide final payment to anyone anymore until the work is done to our satisfaction. read more

Final update. The new company came today and found that the serviceman did not replace the entire component of the mother board. He did not replace the relay switches which were part of the component. I don't know if the warranty company was charged or not. Why he would not install the entire component as it came, we do not know. It was part of the package. Once again, I did not recommend this company. One star because the system requires it. read more

Needed two outlets installed, one of them for a central vac which required an additional breaker added, PLUS troubleshooting why a front foyer switch would trip the breaker. I had both those handled AND the troubleshooting took maybe 30 minutes but was figured out in a most unlikely place. Good professional help isn't inexpensive, though we would all like it for free or pocket change, but I didn't consider the cost out of line. The only way to do it cheaper is to get someone that doesn't have a company behind them to provide long-term service. I've already scheduled additional work to provide an exterior outlet on the back of the garage. read more

I used Home Advisor and you'd think that would be easy. But this is the first company that called me back that seemed professional and reasonable. And that is how it turned out to be. Two other companies did return my call, the first made an appointment and never showed up. The second company called, but couldn't get to me for five days. But Exceptional Electric fit me in the very same day they called, at a time that was convenient for me. They said they would call ahead when on the way, they did. They were exactly on time, knowledgeable, professional, and polite. I needed two kitchen outlets replaced entirely, the technician, L., took the time to go to a supply place to match the color of outlets I had. Given the high level of service I thought the prices were reasonable. You might say I could have replaced those outlets myself. I don't know how to do that. So if I am going to pay, I want the experience to be smooth and convenient, just like it was with Exceptional Electric. I'm a happy camper. read more
