With its two-story open concept and brick walls, it has an urban yet elevated industrial vibe. I came here recently during Comic Con week and in addition to the modern pop art downstairs, I geeked out on the Marvel pieces upstairs. They featured the original comic books, time stone, orb, and a few life-sized Marvel super heroes. It was a treat and appropriate for Comic Con, of course! Can't wait to see which talented artists they'll feature at the gallery next.

I've been there a few times and finally decided to share my lovely experience with this art treasure located in Gaslamp. The beautiful gallery is inside an historic building featuring unique contemporary painting, sculpture, photography, and much more by a variety of local artists. We're often told great art speaks for itself...well, the art will speak for itself. You'll see a spectacular art selection being displayed on both levels (upper level is the solo exhibition) - the artwork captivating. The owner, Sonya Sparks, and staff are always welcoming and very helpful. Therefore, I highly recommend checking out Sparks Gallery.

You can still feel the industrial character of the space while the large open doors create a nice airflow, especially when it starts to get crowded. We were there to see the Raices del Campo solo exhibit and it did not disappoint. The artwork was exceptional and you could really feel the energy through the colors used in the paintings. The artist even had a vintage Tecate cart sitting near one of the entrances. It was such a fun touch, fit the vibe perfectly and was refreshing. I can always appreciate an art show at Bread & Salt. I love the way the space brings together its vintage industrial roots with modern art and creativity.

The catering company also there to serve people food, but then they made people buy their own stuffs and put all the free food away for themselves, we never heard of the food again. Show started at 7:30 PM, they just made people hanging out in the lobby, only a certain amount, the rest still have to wait outside in the cold, no food were served what so ever, the catering company put out the food, then the organizer boxed them and promised it will be ready for everyone after the show. Then the problem with seatings, they really don't know how to seat people, so they randomly picked people and put them to whatever seats available, then everyone else had to stand in the back the entire time. Finally the technical issue, sound and video went out of sync, camera and microphone didn't work half of the time. I understand this is low budget indie blah blah blah, but you really wasted everyone time, and you didn't get your act together. You should have done sound check and rehearsed. By the time they couldn't figure out how to fix the problem, they just let the rest of the show went on, then apologized. There was no free food, and if you wanted to buy food, the catering truck also gone. Really Bread & Salt, you need to allow more quality events to be in your venue. Please!

This was my first visit to The Studio, a gallery tucked away in Hillcrest, and I was genuinely impressed. They showcase a wide range of artists, and it's especially great to see so many talented creatives from San Diego getting the spotlight. The featured show we saw was by Lance Chung, whose work beautifully captures dancers in motion. His pieces feel like stepping into a dream or a fairytale. They are whimsical, expressive, and just plain mesmerizing. Beyond the main exhibit, the gallery opens up into multiple rooms featuring other artists, so you can wander and discover even more creativity. One artist showcased pottery and mentioned she hosts group pottery classes. Honestly, such a fun idea for a birthday or team event. All in all, it was an immersive and inspiring experience that I'd happily do again.

She pours her heart, soul, mind, imagination and then finally her talent as a LIFE LONG Passion (& Wayne State MFA Educated Artist) -to bring an image to canvas. Art isn't for everyone & Mee's Gallery is free admission to view her heart, soul, and lifelong passion. She's been in same location for 13+ years. Not many businesses- who make millions, and millions more- can even say that - especially on India Street. Please don't ask for discounts when she spends at times months on a piece or you don't understand the background details to create such an image. Don't ask for pricing favors- like no tax- Mee Shim has to pay it on sales & so should you as buyer. And lastly- don't be rude, loud, obnoxious, disregarding her posting for "No Photos". Again this is her heart and soul- and she is an open, free Gallery for people to admire and perhaps grow with seeing her works. If you Love her Art- Tell Her, and Purchase an Original. Her Gallery is a welcomed break from the hustle of restaurants, and Her Passion and Enthusiasm surround the visitor. Please visit- you'll be glad you did.

There was live music playing near the entrance and the art expo was easy to find with all of the signs pointing out the way. I was extremely impressed with the talent that these high school seniors displayed in their art. The art presented included: photos, sculptures, and paintings. There were a lot of exhibits and they were all fascinating in their own way. It was a free event, but the school could have easily gotten away with charging for it to raise some money. The place was pretty packed and in certain areas people were nearly shoulder to shoulder. It was cool to see this art.
