This is no ordinary gallery; not only do they have events highlighting their artists, they offer sip and dips, where a professional artist guides you and friends in creating a masterpiece you can take home (wine/beer provided while painting)! Also, I recently attended the writers on the 13, where on the 13th of November the gallery invited 13 local authors to read from their latest book(s) published. My Mom was one of the featured authors and it was an amazing experience to see authors get the floor and promote books and meet fellow authors and community members who cherish art in every form. The gallery itself has the most exquisite art, jewelry and novelty items you could imagine. I loved all the different artwork the gallery had to offer and you will enjoy Penny who runs the gallery; she is the hostess with the mostest!!! If you're visiting or live on the island, this is a must visit, you'll be enchanted. *Sign up to be on their E-mail list for upcoming events. There's always something going on and sip and dips are every week.*

Jill makes framing seem like an art in and of itself. Once in the frame, you can't imagine your chosen art piece outside of it. The frame not only becomes an extension of the piece but you start to get the feeling it can't live without it. Wood Gallery has been framing my favorite artwork and memories for the better part of a decade or more before having ever even stepped foot in her gallery, until last week. I was on vacation in San Diego, with the family, when we decided to go to Coronado for the day, so we decided to stop in for our 1st visit. WOW, I was amazed! I couldn't help but get the feeling that I was stepping into a museum not a storefront. It was such a pleasure to finally meet Jill in person. The gallery had several hand signed lithographs of one of my favorite artists, Picasso, along with plenty of traditional and contemporary original artwork by a range of local and international artists. Jill's staff was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable without a hint of attitude like so many other places. They have no problem with curious visitors who just want to walk in and take a look at the beautiful artwork. I will continue to have my framing done exclusively by Jill and her art gallery. Coronado turned out to be a great little stop on our visit to Southern California. Art and Frames by Wood Gallery is a must stop when in Coronado. Don't forget to ask for Jill!

With its two-story open concept and brick walls, it has an urban yet elevated industrial vibe. I came here recently during Comic Con week and in addition to the modern pop art downstairs, I geeked out on the Marvel pieces upstairs. They featured the original comic books, time stone, orb, and a few life-sized Marvel super heroes. It was a treat and appropriate for Comic Con, of course! Can't wait to see which talented artists they'll feature at the gallery next.

I've been there a few times and finally decided to share my lovely experience with this art treasure located in Gaslamp. The beautiful gallery is inside an historic building featuring unique contemporary painting, sculpture, photography, and much more by a variety of local artists. We're often told great art speaks for itself...well, the art will speak for itself. You'll see a spectacular art selection being displayed on both levels (upper level is the solo exhibition) - the artwork captivating. The owner, Sonya Sparks, and staff are always welcoming and very helpful. Therefore, I highly recommend checking out Sparks Gallery.

Por vida is advertised to serve champurrado, Mexican hot chocolate in the thick form, but the tamal guy at his cart (called Tamales Pepe) served a pretty damn good version too. His chicken mole tamales at $3 each were also muy deliciosos! Such a festive & fun event! We went for their Christmas rendition called "Noche Buena" so there were lots of lights, Christmas trees, and garland everywhere. Be sure to following them on Facebook to learn about their next event. Careful with parking though; cars park in the center, turn section of the street, so travel down this road SLOWLY. It seems like a fairly new spot so I'm sure more and more local artists and vendors will be showing up and making this a regular spot for the hipsters to be at.
