There was two people working even though it was closed and I asked them what is this place? They said it was a beer garden that also grows produce and has an art gallery. The beer is by Chuck Alex which I never heard of but the space is a nice size. With several communal tables and it's pet friendly which is so San Diego. So you can have beer and bring your own food or order from Tostada. Okay so on to the art gallery it's a little small but the art packs a punch. They have some tote bags hanging from the ceiling made of dollar bills. On the wall they have items from different businesses from Seven Eleven to Sushi bars and other local businesses. At first I didn't realize what the art was until I read the story beneath the art. This is a very cool spot in North Park and I was in the area on a Saturday night and this place was busy. So it's probably a good stop for date night.

Went to a fun comedy event at IN Gallery in Logan and was blown away by the high caliber of Irina's…read moreart. The pieces that she had on display this time were mostly of women underwater, rendered in captivating, flowing detail with an excellent eye for color contrast and ability to play with light in the oil medium. There were several other artists' work on display as well, even a few children's pieces, which added a lively feeling to the space. Irina is very personable and took the time to answer questions, explain to me and my artist guest the details of her creative process, and even generously providing him with some helpful tips on taking his craft to the next level. Can't wait for the Sensuality show in December, another great opportunity to support local artists and enjoy a sumptuous visual experience.

The place is like a surreal experience of warmth, love and light. Irina's paintings are vibrant and expressive, reminiscent of the happy childlike freedom we all long for. Brilliant reds and blues, water, dancing, sensual female bodies in all their glory! Irina is a master at expressing light and movement in underwater scenes, her work is so life like and ethereal. Looking through the canvas, I am transported to a happy place of pure bliss! There are monthly events at the gallery, with live Jazz, various guest artists with their beautiful art on display, tacos, bar, and lots of beautiful people. In this crazy rushed world of instant gratification and computer generated illusions, taking the time to savor these painstakingly created labors of love is a good nourishment for the soul. My girlfriend and I travel to San Diego every year for my business Convention. It is the absolute…read morebest! We stay at the Hotel Del Coronado every time. There is just nothing like it. My girlfriend and I both have a love + passion for art and make it a priority to visit a few art galleries during our travels. It's something we enjoy doing together. After arriving to SD, we checked into the Del and went for a walk down Orange Ave. We were lucky to notice a charming art gallery right across the street. We had never seen it before. Walking up to the front door i read a sign saying that viewing is by appointment only. Since we love art so much i called an made an appointment for the next day at 12p. The following day we showed up 15 minutes early to see the door was open and someone was there. Sean (the owner) greeted us at the door with a smile and charm that matched the gallery. As we walked in we felt the presence of the collector. Pasionate, clean, intelligent, charming and elegant. The art displayed on the floor is just magnificent. The fung shui and layout of the gallery was fluid and easy to peruse. As we continued to look around we discovered a painting by LaDiva Ruan. It was of the Hotel Del Coronado where we were staying. The combinations of colors, techniques and skills were just flawless. I had always wanted to bring a piece of the Del back home with us. I wanted to buy it. Being a bit of an art connoisseur myself i knew how the game worked. Or at least i thought lol. After negotiating a bit we made a deal and I bought the piece. Everytime I see it in my home I think of Sean and his warming hospitality and his charming gallery near the Del. The memory is apart of the art. Sean is extremely knowledgeable about the history of art and definitely educated us on a few things. He told us a few funny stories about the artist and unique facts about the hotel. It is all flat ground from there. Experience: this museum is FREE, which is awesome! You can leave a cash donation if you want to support the artists and museum. The exhibition I saw was on the fact that humans are destroying the planet, and it was interesting but definitely not kid friendly (this time). I think other times they have more kid friendly exhibits. I do recommend checking this place out! It's good to support local museums and keep them in business.

The SD museums of art is at the balboa park amongst other museums and beautiful outdoor flowers,…read moresceneries, etc. there were many tourists out that day including school field trips, groups, etc. I used the gocity pass to check in at the front desk and then I was able to enjoy the museum. It is two stories big offering stairs and elevators. They have security on each art room/ theme area. I was able to observe many paintings that were diverse and unique. Some are antiques kept there for everyone to admire. They have clean restrooms available as well. Bring comfortable shoes because there is pretty to walk around. Staff were very nice and checking went smoothly as well. The sticker you are given can be used all day long to come back to the same Museum. Most museums open at 10AM but plenty of people arrive earlier. I took public transportation to get up there and that was easy.

Chanell Stone: Undulation of a Rupture during a journey through the Mississippi Delta. Black and white photographs invite reflection on the Mississippi River as both a natural force and a historical passageway. The museum created an atmosphere of this exhibit with a deeply emotional connection and experience. Graciela Iturbide, arguably Latin America's best-known living photographer from Mexico. This exhibition surveys her most iconic photographs, primarily captured in Mexico, but also worldwide. Also, Dutch Paintings on loan from Boston Museum of Fine Arts. I came during the Great Exchange and it was free if you have membership with a participating museum. It's also free for San Diego residents on the third Tuesday of the month. Two things that surprised me: The first being half of upstairs was closed to prepare for new exhibits. Secondly, several Gallery Attendants behaved very strangely and were definitely not friendly or welcoming. There were two different exhibits where I was viewing the museum app on my phone and witnessed the attendants walking around in circles quickly. It was distracting and odd. I got the impression they didn't want me to linger but I ignored them and they finally stopped. I asked a question to another attendant and he seemed annoyed like I was disturbing him. The friendly women security guards were absolutely wonderful! Lastly, free parking was available for several hours as long as you previously registered with the city. Johnny KNOWS art and while I love poking fun at the hipstar culture that has overtaken my neighborhood, all I have to say is: wow, the young artists who display their work here are honestly VERY, VERY talented. If I had unlimited disposable income and a huge house with empty walls, I would just buy my art from the artists I see displayed here at this gallery. I don't want to meddle but this artwork is so good that it is worthy of a nod from those who are "long in the tooth" and "well endowed" in the wallet from La Jolla, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe. I really think that there needs to be a fusion if you will of the art crowd in San Diego, oil based overly dramatic landscapes are cool when you are 70 but this art at this gallery bends your mind in a different way. Small little gallery with a huge punch!…read more Paul and Johnny are amazing for holding down the San Diego art scene by running this venue. They feature local and region artists, producing a full calendar of events, both on site and in other venues. Each art show is a party but the main focus is the art. They take very good care of the work and their main goal is to showcase the art in the best possible light (figuratively and literally.) They make sure they study each piece so that they can approach each potential buyer with the knowledge needed to present the piece. I can speak from personal experience as I arrived at the gallery early to drop off my artwork, Johnny was training an intern. She had flash cards and she was quized on each piece. That is care and dedication that I appreciate as both a patron and an artist! A few weeks later, I was presented a check of my pieces that they were able to sell. Both owners and curators are WONDERFUL people- amicable, down-to-earth, friendly. I'm definitely a fan of Thumbprint Gallery!

This was my first visit to The Studio, a gallery tucked away in Hillcrest, and I was genuinely impressed. They showcase a wide range of artists, and it's especially great to see so many talented creatives from San Diego getting the spotlight. The featured show we saw was by Lance Chung, whose work beautifully captures dancers in motion. His pieces feel like stepping into a dream or a fairytale. They are whimsical, expressive, and just plain mesmerizing. Beyond the main exhibit, the gallery opens up into multiple rooms featuring other artists, so you can wander and discover even more creativity. One artist showcased pottery and mentioned she hosts group pottery classes. Honestly, such a fun idea for a birthday or team event. All in all, it was an immersive and inspiring experience that I'd happily do again.

I was invited here by a family member to check out the annual (high school) senior art exhibition…read moreput on by the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). I ended up attending this event with my wifey and other family. Finding this place was difficult only because I was given bad directions and no address. Parking is scarce likely because of the event, but found with moderate effort. I walked up to the place and loved the vibe. There was live music playing near the entrance and the art expo was easy to find with all of the signs pointing out the way. I was extremely impressed with the talent that these high school seniors displayed in their art. The art presented included: photos, sculptures, and paintings. There were a lot of exhibits and they were all fascinating in their own way. It was a free event, but the school could have easily gotten away with charging for it to raise some money. The place was pretty packed and in certain areas people were nearly shoulder to shoulder. It was cool to see this art. I love art and museums, so I had a great time with my group. 5 / 5 - Art 5 / 5 - Atmosphere 3 / 5 - Parking
