When in downtown Sandusky, you can't find better food, better service, nor a better vibe than Shore…read moreHouse Tavern. The place radiates friendliness and you truly feel like a regular when you walk in, warmly greeted right away and taken care of the entire duration of your meal. My family had returned after a long day of theme park food and I needed something lite - and their seasonal salad was just what I needed. It was a very generous portion with some of my the sweetest strawberries I've ever had with candied walnuts, feta cheese, and a delicious vinaigrette to go along with it. Skip the theme park dining when you can - or at the very least, supplement it with this delicious cuisine and friendly service.

Our first night in Sandusky landed us in this small tavern right across Lake Erie…read more Very casual vibe and everyone was very accommodating but seemed overwhelmed. For an appetizer, we ordered the wedge salad and the Buffalo Chicken dip. I got the perch dinner for my main course. The kid got a chicken sandwich and my wife got the brisket Mac n cheese. They said that the kitchen was backed up. Honestly, it was totally not an issue. We were just relaxing, watching the game and chilling after a 7 hour drive from NJ. What was an issue was...... appetizers came out exactly the and time as the main courses. WHY????????? It couldn't have taken that long to throw blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes on a chunk of lettuce and pump out the Buffalo Chicken dip and then worry about the main courses later. Now we have to decide, do we want to eat the entrees or even touch the appetizers. That alone always ruins everything. Food was very good. Like I said, people were very nice but you just can't bring everything out at once. Defeats the point of "starting" with something.

The good: Bar tender was great! Vibe was fun and light hearted. Fun drink selection and cute theme…read moreand decor. There is bean bag toss and a dj! The bad: unfortunately there is a $10 entrance fee which is oookay but feels weird to be enforced when it is slow. But whatever- What actually made me upset and annoyed was the following: I was sitting outside and got cold. I asked the bouncer if I could run to my car really quick. He said yes. Literally 30 seconds after, I came back and was told I would have to pay a $5 re-entry fee. I laughed because I thought it was a joke - not only was I gone for 30 seconds but I asked for specific permission before even leaving (which I really shouldnt have to but did anyways to avoid anything like this). When he didnt laugh back I realized he wasnt kidding. I asked why I wasnt told about a $5 re-entry fee when I asked to leave and why there was no sign. It felt slimy. I mean seriously- 30 seconds on a slow night when I was told I can "go right ahead". The bouncer turned to the other bouncer and asked him if it were true I asked to leave and he said I didnt say I was going to come back - which is not just not true. Lastly the bouncer said this was already my second warning because I was apparently already told about the re-entry fee when I left with "some guy" minutes prior. I had not left before this. I told him this and he swore he saw me. It just seems a bit ridiculous. It is $5. I was accused of lying. Had I known about this rule and been told about it, I wouldn't have a complaint. It is the principle of being accused of lying. In the end, they let me in without paying the re-entry fee so thank you but it definitely killed the vibe and the whole thing seemed extremely petty. My boyfriend pointed out there was another girl who kind of looked like me and was wearing a green top same as me which might be why the bouncer claimed he saw me leaving earlier but regardless this was completely ridiculous. Its just a shame because again it is a cute fun bar but the whole re-entry fee and being accused of lying put a really bad taste in our mouths.

The atmosphere was lively and family-friendly, and they had a blast while we were there. It's definitely a spot that keeps kids entertained and makes it a little easier to relax as a parent. What truly stood out was the staff's integrity and kindness. I accidentally left my credit card there, and not only did they go out of their way to mail it back to me, they included a cute little Thirsty Pony drink coozie in the envelope. That was such an unexpected and thoughtful touch. Customer service like that really matters. The atmosphere and the way they handled my mistake absolutely left a positive impression. Thank you to the team for going above and beyond -- that kindness did not go unnoticed!

If she had been working for me that would have been her last day. We ended up getting seated; in what I'll call the "new section" . Music was way to loud. Couldn't hardly carry on a conversation. Perch was good. Onion rings were good. Ordered coleslaw instead of pasta salad. Got pasta salad anyway; which was too salty to eat. Changed it for the coleslaw; which I had ordered in the first place. Waitress was crazy busy but took good care of us.
