One of my favorite bars in the country, and for good reason. Great live entertainment, super cool vibe, and legitimate buckets of beer. You spend 50 bucks and you get a bucket of beer and a bag of ice. However, many people are drinking out of the bucket, that's how many cups you get... Plus one cup to act as your beer dispenser. We were a bit shocked at the $50 price tag, so on the second bucket we decided to count how many beers we got... The bucket wound up yielding about 14 beers. If you do the math on that, it turns out that it's a pretty solid value. again the bar has a super cool vibe, friendly and prompt service and during the summer season, the live music starts up around 2 PM. Of course, if you are island hopping at Put In Bay, expect to see a lot of inebriated young adults, as well as older adults here. That is what the experience is all about, so I don't really understand some of the shitty reviews. The bar is literally a roundhouse, which is very cool. The stage sits in the middle of the bar that wraps around it. Outside on the patio is a grill that makes some of the best barbecue chicken you will ever have in your life ($14 for a half of a chicken, corn on the cob, a roll and potato salad). Yes, the floors are wet, dirty and sticky - people spill their drinks. Live bands are usually playing Thursday through Sunday nights, so if you're not into Mad Dog Adams, or whomever is playing - leave! No one asked you to come here! Yes, there is a cover charge, which is usually no more than $5. Yes, some of the drinks are on the pricey side. Get over it, and have a good time - you came to Put In Bay to get drunk and have a great time! Worry about your checking account after you sober up! read more

"The Roundhouse Bar... Where One Can't A Drink... Offseason, In October". I recently took a friend new to NE Ohio on a small adventure out to see more of the area and we ended up going to Put-In_Bay for the afternoon. I had told him about the Roundhouse Bar and it's long history and he was excited to visit. It was our first stop downtown. We knew because it was offseason the bar wouldn't have it's usual flavor (there were six customers not counting us), but we thought at least we can enjoy the establishment and getting some drinks shouldn't be a difficulty. We were wrong. We were able to get a round of a coke and a cider from the young female bartender. But when it came time to order another, neither the female or male bartender (who had been playing with a plastic bar glass made into a shuttlecock for the last five minutes) would give us a second, third, or even forth glance. They each moved on to talking to their boyfriends, and even though we politely said "hello" or "can we get a drink, please" a few times, we received no attention at all. Still polite "hellos" became a little bit louder. The female bartender looked at us but provided no service and went back to conversing. My companion decided to make a last-ditch effort to get their attention by lobbing a similarly made shuttlecock in their direction to get their attention in a humorous fashion. It bounced off the male bartender, which gave him the opportunity to still say nothing but give us a slow look and squint, Dirty Harry like. If only he was looking forward to bartending as much as he was looking forward to an opportunity to be macho. My friend told him he had been trying to get their attention for the last 20 minutes, and this was his last resort. The immature bartender's reply was to infer we were drunk, cutoff, and that we should leave the bar ASAP. We told him we were happy to go after we finished our coke and cider. Anyone who has been here, to the "center of the universe" , will understand my dilemma. Live bands playing crazy loud music..... Stench of beer, puke, sweat, and human excretions. Sun burned women and men of all ages and appearance's (high percentage over weight)...all dunk beyond believe. Dirty wood floor that has seen many a mans/womens face. Parachute over head, also hasn't been changed or cleaned in 30 years. Beer, booze, sloppy food outside, and stupid Mardi Gras beads that for some reason everyone wants to buy. Hillbilly couple couple in corner pathetically trying to engage in sexual activity. You ask, why would I want to go there? I can only say it must be experienced before ones death. It actually may result in your death (or at least arrest). Have a nice summer and stay thirsty my friends..... read more

Far and away the best bar at PIB. To paraphrase their slogan, if you haven't had a bucket on your head at Round House, you haven't been to Put-in-Bay. They always seem to have the best bands and while I'm sure they make money hand over fist on the buckets o' beer, I always seem to get drunk relatively cheap here. OK truth be told, I'm usually drunk by the time I get to Round House, but infrequent trips to the bar at least make it seem cheap. The downside - its always lousy with too many people and the bouncers can get pretty authoritarian with their no fun patrol flashlights. But with the amount of drunks in this place, I guess you can at least understand it. PIB is certainly not want for bars, but in a sea of cheap beer and cover bands, RH stands as a shining oasis - a cut above the rest in the drunken DIsneyland that is PIB. read more

Every time I've been here I've always have a blast. I love all of the performers they have and the decor inside. I love how they seriously serve buckets of beer. In the afternoon w adults they need to take a chill pill. Security could ruin your experience. I'm getting ready to visit Put in Bay for the third time this summer. It's an amazing village, chalked full of history. I can't believe all of the negative reviews I'm reading about the Round House. For several years it has been our go to bar on the island for the best music, drinks and shows. We've been to Key West, Punta Cana, Chichen Itza, and Montego Bay and Put in Bay is by far my go to for fun and relaxation I'll guarantee you that anyone who complains about the Round House Bar was a real kill joy for their traveling companions their entire trip! read more

I've only ever been here at Halloween and they sure went all out! They decorated the place to the hilt, so much so that I'm not sure what the place must look like otherwise. It did have a high entrance fee ($10) but unlike most of the other places, you got a goodie bag with a plastic cup some Halloween treats, and 3 jello shots. It was pretty popular and there was a live band playing which was nice to dance along to. This was the last place that we visited, and really should have been one of the 1st. read more

Ha! Cheap beer, sticky floor, mediocre band, drunk youngsters...at 2 in the afternoon. Just like it was 20 years ago. So, not my kind of place anymore, but it's totally authentic to what it is. Plus the chicken pit is right next door. This place was totally worth a visit for nostalgia sake. Then we came back again at 10PM, not so much to be here, but so as not to be at the other 2 places we went to, which had lame bands and even lamer vibe. Being Monday it still wasn't crowded - we could actually sit at a table and chat. Then the evening band started their second set ... and they were crazy good. Get up, move around, sing out loud to songs that don't suck kind of crazy good. By the time the evening ended, the Roundhouse ended up being the highlight of our festivities. I love round house for the night time. They have really good chicken that they grill up for a nice late night snack on your way to the ferry. They have a fun atmosphere at night, good music, and even throw confetti sometimes. It can be a little loud with the live music if you are trying to have a conversation. I was not a fan of coming here during the day on the weekend. There is an older man who plays and half of his show was him talking and trying to push political issues and such. Look im here for a party, I want to drink and dance, not listen to you talk to me about your life. Overall I'll skip it during the day. read more

I have been to Roundhouse about four times over the course of two visits in two summers. I am by no means the expert on Roundhouse, but I gave it four stars for my combined visits. 3 stars for Roundhouse itself, and a bonus star for the fabulous chicken meal next door and those wonderful (and dangerous) Bushwacker drinks at the outdoor bar! If you want an excellent lunch or early dinner, get the wine basted chicken at the Chicken Patio. I could also sit at the bar next to it and drink delicious chocolatey drinks all day. Roundhouse is fun, definitely crowded late at night when there are live bands. Quieter during the early evening if you just want to stop in for a drink or to see the atmosphere. Not a bar that I'd write home about, but I'm glad I've been a few times, even if it doesn't top my list of the top favorite bars in PIB. read more

I had a good time here! Very cool old building. Fun, live music. It was easy to get drinks, but I went in the off season. One night we sat outside and watched a storm come in over the water. This is not your sit down and chit chat with your friends type of bar, but more of a on vacation/loud music/lots of drinks Put In Bay type of bar. read more

The bar tenders were efficient and friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced (for the island). Total drunkfest on a Saturday afternoon. Whoa. It was a nice sunny 83 degree day and the inside of this bar was packed butts-to-nuts with drunks. We preferred to sit outside. Terrible service! Bartenders ignored us because they were having conversations with some other island workers who came in to drink on their day off. It was so blantant that we had to ask if we could order a drink. She continued her conversation with friends while she poured the drinks and didn't even look away from them when she snatched the credit card out of my husband hand for payment! By far one of the best places to enjoy a beer and live music on the island. Always packed, no matter the time of day, and always the sounds of excitement through the doors and windows. I am pretty sure my sister and I heard the laughter of one lady all the way at Perry's Monument! My sister and I grabbed our dad who was DYING to go to Round House during our whole trip and had a blast. The band that was playing the evening we went was awesome. I think they were called The Sellouts and were from Columbus. If you notice they are playing at Round House, go! You must. They are fun and play an awesome selection of new and semi-old jams. The drinks are stiff and must be reasonably priced because my sister picked up the tab, haha. The bathrooms are relatively clean, I was surprised by this. It gets very busy and crowded so be prepared to wait a bit to get up to the bar and know that people will probably bump into you. Worth checking out over any other bar on the island. read more

This is the place for drinks, music, social time. Large bar, loss of seating around. Also a front porch for sitting.

They had a live bar on Monday night who was pretty good, they were a bit loud, but what do you expect. Overall decent place nothing special.

Aside from the bathroom (which is generally filthy once happy hour hits... but that's not the bars fault... people are just filthy A-holes) this bar is a great time. Keep in mind, there isn't much night life in Put-In-Bay aside from this bar and two others... if this bar were located any OTHER than Put-in-Bay... it would probably be a 2 star. read more

This was a fun bar to stop into at night which wasn't too expensive. I wouldn't get the bucket of beer though considering it'll set you back almost $30. A little steep for my liking but they had a cool stage up high. Wasn't the largest bar either. I'd stop back in but wouldn't be too upset if we passed it by either. read more
