We got to see some outstanding acts this year (Friday, 2026) like The Strokes. Food and drink can get really expensive. Which is to be expected. My friends and I frequented the $5 mystery beer tent, which was often not beer, but tallboys of wine. Food could get pricey, but we were only there for one day, so we balled out. If you're there for the whole weekend and camping, you can bring plenty of your own food to help alleviate this cost. This was my second time going, first since 2019, and the magic was still there. It's kinda comforting to see people letting it all hang out. The kids are gonna be alright, I think. Weather seems to be a recurring issue for the festival. It was beautiful but a bit muddy the day we were there. I heard there were some rain delays and even more mud later on in the weekend. Some of this is par for the course. I do think they would be wise to pick a different time of year.

In 2022, 85 championship teams from across the world convened in Lynchburg, TN to compete for the…read morecoveted title of "The Jack Grand Champion," and judging by their website the Grand Champion team receives a $25K check - not bad!!! my husband and I completed our training and received our Kansas City Barbecue Society [KCBS] BBQ judge's certification and were excited to attend [not judge but attend] our first BBQ competition! It's held annually in October and is such a lovely drive up to Lynchburg! Gary N did a great job of accurately capturing the "feel" of the event in his numerous photos posted here! There are a lot of vendors set up for this event selling eats, t-shirts, and more. There's a large, covered pavilion where the judging happens, and spectators can watch from bleachers. I don't recall the number of judges but I do recall at least one local "celebrity" newscaster among the judges. The Styrofoam containers for judging are deftly prepared and rushed to the judging area with immense intensity - it really is something to watch, and the "food runner" will scream at you to "get out of the way" if they need to! Others referenced free samples, which wasn't the case on our visit, except for the international area. No guests/visitors get samples of the competition BBQ to my knowledge. If you want lunch, you'll need to get something from the vendors. However, the international area competitors did offer us ample samples of their BBQ. They were all very friendly, too! The competition area is fairly spread out, so wear comfortable shoes and the entryway is sloped, so there's that. It's free as far as I know, and everyone should attend at least one championship BBQ competition - the Jack Daniels event is a well-run, fun one to attend.

Coming from Chattanooga area we chose to take the scenic drive down the old highway from Monteagle through Sewanee. As you arrive into town you can start seeing the smoke and smelling the BBQ. This is a very small town but everyone seems to be selling parking. $5-$10 mostly. We parked very close to downtown. The square is fully covered with tents and vendors as you walk in, live country music is playing. All the downtown shops are open and plenty to explore and see in the town. However, food is in our mind and we continue down to the food tents and competition area. Lots of free samples, but I did not see any from the competitors which was a disappointment. But still plenty to see and try. They also have food instructions, vendor demos, Etc I do wish they would move this so it is not the same weekend as Tennessee vs Alabama. We left early to catch the game as I am sure many do. At the least put a big screen up for the crowd. Lynchburg is a great small town and one you should visit. Jack Daniels is a short walk and free tour. Great day.

They had over 3,000 visitors last year and so they had to move to a larger grounds this year. With over 50 vendors, lots of food trucks and adoption booths, this is becoming one of the largest annual doggy festivals in Middle TN.

It's my husband and I's first…read moretime visiting so we didn't know what to expect but we were both blown away by how much fun activities there are to do and the awesome animals to see. I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance because you will save time and money that way. I believe it is more expensive if you buy tickets at the front booths. That, plus you can schedule an arrival time. Parking is free too so that's a plus! They have plenty of fun family activities to do: gem mining, barrel rides, slides, kids playground areas etc. This is definitely a great spot to bring your kids for some fun in the outdoors! I love their Cedar Glade Trail was a nice little walk for our family and we got to see all the adorable animals! They had Racoons, emu's, goats, capybaras, prairie dogs and red foxes! They also have a bunch more animals towards the front for guests to see. We loved the peacocks. The aviary is a nice spot for guests to walk around and feed the birds. They also had an area with a couple bunnies for guests to pet. There's plenty of other animals they have but it would much to long to mention them all! Almost all of the animals looked happy and had a very spacious habitat to enjoy. Well worth the $16 entrance fee! We will be back for future events!

The staff gives friendly, superb customer service. Has a very happy, family feel. the offerings are incredibly diverse, ranging from some favorite bands to festivals full of acts I've never heard of, so there's definitely something for everyone! Todd Rundgren summed the magic up nicely last week: "I expect a dragon to come flying out any minute."

Bc of it's natural rock curves, visibility of the front stage is hit or miss, especially for the short girlies like me. Security and walking to the venue was easy. We stayed on the property in one of their yurts which made it all that more easy. They have large fields for camping on site too. Price point for the ticket felt a little up there but not terrible. And the Yurts were pricey but AC, running bathroom, very clean and cozy so can't complain. A couple of food trucks at the entrance and the doner kebab one was sooo good, we ordered from there twice in the night.

This Christmas light display supports a charity- FrankTown Open Hearts. Once through the gate, we kinda got lost- my wife drove over a traffic cone and killed it. Some creative person put a of thought into this display. For example, an English folk song, The Twelve Days of Christmas, stretched twelve days worth of displays of moving lights along the twisting road. Another, the Elf's Workshop, was an explosion of moving colored parts. Really beautiful. Can't forget the Wise Men and their big, glumping camels. There were these displays and a whole lot more. I recommend that everyone come to the Ag Center to see these lights...just don't kill any traffic cones like we did. Five stars for the Festival of Lights.

Went to a couple others in TN and in OH, this is going to sound hella snobby lol, they had synced lights, cool tunnels, the whole 9. This one has to up its game for sure.
