Unlike NYC subway stations, Montréal's are ALL staffed and you have the option of self-paying at the kiosk or paying with the ticket person. Now I truly know- how New Yorkers feel about tourists. But this is what sets Montréal from NYC apart every time for me: not one single person rushed us. No one was huffing and puffing and talking under their breath. Much less, the person at the ticket booth, wasn't cut and dry and went the extra mile to even circle where to hop off from the Sherbrooke Line. Merci! We eventually bought 2 Round-Trip Métro cards for $12. The chip in the card allows you to swipe on their Turnstile scanner and you can load and reload funds in it as you go. I was highly amazed at how clean Montréal's Métro system is maintained with super wide platforms at that! But I was more impressed with Montréal's outrageously quiet rail. Freaking amazing. Montréal never ceases to amaze me!

There is also under this bus terminal a subway station connecting to the Montreal subway network. From there there are , on a regular time schedule, buses connecting to downtown Montreal. A few years ago they have renovated most of the installation there which was, believe me, not a luxury but a necessity. Actually the renovation works where done only in the bus terminal. The wing where the subway is, still looks like 20 years ago! Unfortunately they are not planning any renovation works any time soon. At least now you can wait your bus in a covered and heated place. Before, in winter, you would litteraly freeze your ass outhere since the terminal is right next to the St-Lawrence River in a very windy spot! Inside the terminal there are various shops and restaurants to soften your wainting time. But I have to say that the ambiance is pretty "cold". It was really design only as a transit hub. A few years ago the Sherbrooke University opened a huge campus in an adjacent building. For the students this is great since it's very easy to get to the University with public transport. In short this terminal is really only a transportation hub and definitely not a place to enjoy a cup of coffee!

They left us all behind. The machines should be on the train or at least on the platforms. This was in Vaudreuil on a Sunday night. There should be train service on the weekends that is not at dinner time (6:45). There is NOTHING after 7pm on weekends. Who is this service for? Only people traveling Monday to Friday in the morning or at night time on peak rush hour. The rest of us are screwed. Do better!

In addition, they provided timely and exceptional assistance to help us recover from an unexpected crisis. We were scheduled to depart on the shuttle early on a Monday morning. On the preceding Saturday afternoon, while parked at a hiking trail head in VT, the passenger window of our car was smashed. Without a secure car, how could we store our excess baggage during the four days of our bike trip? How could we get the window fixed, given our tight schedule, the location, the weekend, and the limited availability of parts? Maxim, who owns and operates the shuttle service with his parents, arranged to store our extra bags in their small office, (which is a picturesque caboose at the end of the rail trail) and to have someone repair our car window during our bike trip. As a result, we were able to enjoy an uninterrupted worry-free, romantic trip, biking 200 km through beautiful scenery, and including gourmet breakfasts and dinners at each of our three stops. Thank you, Maxim and family, for salvaging this trip by providing storage and arranging repair on an exceptional basis, and demonstrating such a high standard of customer service.
