Doesn't matter if you do not have the time to answer your client's questions. I am so glad he had the wisdom to not move forward. There is NO WAY we are going to accept something without understanding the total costs. Additional details: 04 Dec'25: I called this service and mentioned all the tasks I wanted to get done. Was quoted $145/hr. I asked if he could come home to provide an accurate estimate. His preference was for me to text him photos of the work that needs to be done so he could provide an estimate. 05 Dec'25: I send pictures as requested. 06 Dec'25: Received input that hourly rate was $145/hr for most of the things. One of the items would be a flat rate of $145. I asked follow-up clarification on the flat rate question and he responded. 07 Dec'25: Updated to him that we might de-prioritize a few things and requested if he can provide an estimate of the time it would take to complete the prioritized items so that we have an idea of what the total cost would be. 08 Dec '25: I called him over the phone as it's easier to chat and requested the same as above for an estimate. His response was that he does not want to work with us anymore because we have been dissecting his quote and that he may come out of this not getting enough (whatever this means!). He clearly stated he has no interest in working with us. So this ended the call.

That guy, Matt, and the later handyman were friendly and efficient. Then another few weeks till they came out. I got the disposal and they installed it, plus added a plug under the sink and fixed the wall switch. Took an hour or so. This is the only handyman our dogs haven't barked at when they got here, and never did. He said he has dogs, but sometimes ours go nuts no matter what, on just hearing or smelling a stranger. The roof took maybe half an hour. Again, professional and efficient. Prices seem a little high to me, but it's been awhile since I hired anyone so this may be the new normal. And I used to be able to do some of this stuff but can't now, so, I have to pay someone sometimes. Worth it to have it taken care of.

My frustration has nothing to do with the quality of the work or even necessarily the $250 price. It's about how the entire situation was handled. One of the reasons I contacted this company was because they advertise a free estimate. To me, that means someone comes out, looks at the issue, tells me what it will cost, and then I have the opportunity to decide whether I want to authorize the work. That did not happen. The technician came in, asked what was going on, grabbed our own plunger, and started working on the toilet. Within a short time, he got the clog loose. At no point beforehand was I told, "This service will be $250. Would you like me to proceed?" I wasn't given an estimate, I didn't sign anything authorizing the work, and I wasn't told what I would be charged until after the work had already been done. Had he simply said, "I'm going to try plunging it, and if that clears it, the charge will be $250. Is that okay?" then I could have made that decision myself. If I agreed, then absolutely, charge me the $250. That's not the issue. The issue is advertising a free estimate and then beginning billable work before actually providing that estimate or getting approval from the customer. Once the work is already completed, the customer really doesn't have a choice anymore. I specifically chose this company because I got the impression they cared about taking care of people and weren't going to treat every interaction as just another transaction. Unfortunately, that isn't how this experience felt. Again, I appreciate that the toilet was fixed, and the technician did accomplish what we needed. I just wish there had been more transparency, communication, and consideration before the work was performed. A simple explanation of the cost and asking for my authorization beforehand would have made this an entirely different review.

The house had insulation blown in 14 years ago, and there are indentations in all of the walls where this was done. Unlike a previous painter I hired to refresh other rooms, Bryan's painters sanded/filled in-not an expert so I don't know the right term, but the indentations are no longer visible. The room he painted had been charcoal and white for 50+ years and was very dark. Now, it is very bright and refreshing.
