This is a great store! As someone who couldn't possibly shop for bras in most big box stores or any department store, I basically have no choice but to shop at small boutiques like this. I was very happy shopping there and absolutely plan to return. Prices are very fair for the quality and 100% in line with (or better than) other stores of this kind. Staff was super friendly and I felt very comfortable -- not always a given when you're standing in your underwear, talking to a stranger! Expect Lace has sizes that run up to 42J in store, but can easily order larger sizes as needed. Given the number of variables with bras (style + band + cup + color), it's hard for any store to keep every single option stocked, but Expect Lace does an excellent job of making sure they have enough to make things work. And if, say, you find the right bra but in the wrong color? They can order and ship the one you want to your house -- FOR FREE! Music to my ears. In addition, once you shop there, they keep a record of what you bought. So in my case, my file shows that I bought a certain bra in a specific size, but also notes what other stuff was working for me. I love this because it means I can just contact them and say, "I want that same thing but in purple," and they can make it happen. One thing to note (and the reason I knocked them down a star): It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find out what time this store is open. I checked Yelp, Google, and Instagram and they all gave me a different story. I called the number and no one answered, but the voicemail said to make an appointment, which I did. (And it's not just me -- another customer came in and had the same question while I was being helped.) Apparently they've just got a lot of stuff going on right now and limited staff so sometimes the hours need to flex, but knowing for sure when they were open would've gotten me there a lot sooner and being able to drop in during known open hours would've been easier for me than scheduling an appointment. ps. I recently had a fitting at Expect Lace as I have lost weight and was so happy with the service provided by Tommy. Her experience was obvious as she measured once around my rib cage and then proceeded to bring me bras in a variety of styles and colors that fit like a glove. The selection was beautiful with a variety of price points and anything that wasn't in stock could have been shipped directly home. I visited Expect Lace after trying (and failing) to buy my first post-breastfeeding bra at various department stores. I'd changed sizes and everything I tried on looked terrible or was extremely uncomfortable. When I found out Expect Lace did fittings, I made a beeline on over. The owner was super friendly and figured out my right size and sister size. There were so many cute bras (and undies and other lingerie) that worked with my budget, and I had a blast picking out something that made me feel good. I was so impressed! I ordered the Black Caress Brief in a size small and received a different pair of black underwear that was too big! The caress brief was cotton with a cut out in the back and the underwear I got was lace and unflattering. The phone number doesn't pick up when you call and I still haven't heard back from their customer service. As a performer, it was frustrating to not have what I ordered for a performance and would never recommend this brand to anyone. Disappointing. read more

I had a great experience at expect lace the other day. I came in for a fitting after a massive weight loss and the owner (Shaw) was amazing and very helpful. She measured me and then brought in a bunch of different bras and styles for me to try on. Once I got "in" the bra Shay would come in and check the fit and make adjustments to the size or other recommendations. It was a very painless process and I ended up going home with 3 beautiful bras! I just came across this place after several frustrating attempts to be properly fitted for a bra in Center City. The shop was well lit, spotless without feeling clinical, selective in merchandise without looking sparse, and classy without being matronly. Shaw was warm, friendly, professional, and was really empathetic to my frustration with bras now that I'm wrapping up my second round of breastfeeding. I loved that she talked about the thoughtful ways she's hoping to address different customers concerns in the future (carrying even more sizes, looking into nursing bras that actually fit well, etc) She offered me a cold bottle of water after a quick measurement brought back a few styles to try on. I also tried on a few sports bras and did a couple of jumping jacks to test support. I didn't feel any pressure to buy and in fact, the bras I didn't get today were saved to an information account that I (or my husband hopefully) can reference the next time I want to make a purchase. What a lovely store - only to be exceeded by its kind owner. I was looking for something very specific and went to Expect Lace after reading the reviews. The reviews are spot-on. Owner Shaw is so kind and it is easy to feel comfortable with her. After being measured and trying on a bra for size, we both realized that Shaw did not carry what I was looking for (though the store has many, many options). That did not stop her from helping me! I stopped in last week to finally (shamefully) get properly fitted for the first time in my adult life. And I'm proud to say, after Marie Kondo-ing my closet, I now only own bras from this store. I'm forever a fan of supporting small (especially women owned) businesses but I'm also now convinced this is the only way you should ever purchase bra and lingerie--in person, in a place where the owner and staff truly know their inventory and are happy to help you make the right choices.
