This is the type of non-profit you don't need or even know that it exists until, well, you do! They serve a variety of clients such as those experiencing housing issues, recently incarcerated, and the transgender community also. There are around 150 referring agencies that work with The Wardrobe & appointments with a referral can get 6 items of clothing free plus accessories and/or toiletries etc. Highly recommend as a place to donate gently used women's clothing, especially clothing geared towards work interviews or dresses for women transitioning. Also a supportive and helpful resource for those who work for any of their referring partner agencies. read more

Stopped by the store today while in town. They get amazing reviews and rightfully so. The store is nicely organized. People are able to donate or make an appointment to receive clothing at no cost. I was able to find two skirts, a top, two necklaces and a wristlet all for $50. My friend was able to find a dress, two pair of slacks, a skirt and shoes, all for $50. I've gotten so many cute things here- work dresses, cute heels, a leopard nighty for $1 that I wore to an Ali Wong show and she reposted, a floor length red velvet dress I really need to find an excuse to wear to something... And more! I also recently when to a yoga sip and shop event where we did yoga upstairs and then had 20% off and some wine while we shopped so look out for those types of events. The proceeds help out Career Wardrobe so it's a great cause! They accept donations (it's not a consignment shop). It's well organized by type of clothing, size, and a higher end room in the middle and there are a few fitting rooms. Faithful Dining Companion and I were lured to the Wardrobe Boutique for their "Bag Sale" clearance and boy was it worth it! The Wardrobe Boutique is an upscale thrift/resale shop supporting the charity Career Wardrobe, an organization that provides career clothing to disadvantaged women who have completed job training and are entering the workforce. The boutique itself is bright, roomy, with well laid out and well marked clothing, shoes, accessories and handbags. The clothing is generally in very good condition and is well displayed. Yes, you see items from Chico's and the Limited but you also see Tory Burch, YSL, Jones New York and more. Remember, it's a thrift store, so they're dependent on donations to stock, so it varies! The staff is friendly and helpful, too. We loved our 'finds', helped by the Yelp Deal, a donation (which gives you a discount!) and an email coupon too, enjoyed our shopping and felt great about supporting a worthy, local charity too! My favorite Shop in the city of Philadelphia. Not only do the employees treat me like royalty every time I've come, suggesting styles, and helping me gather my things into a fitting room like I'm a client at Saks Fifth Ave. It started with my sisters wedding. I got a badgley mischka dress for $60 brand new with tags on. For my court house ceremony I styled myself head to toe for $110. Summer sale I stumbled upon a ton of lily pulitzer for $5 & $10. The quality of the items for sale is higher end then a thrift store. The condition they're selling there garments in is like new. The organization of the store makes it easy to find treasures. The building is located on the corner and there is a sizeable loading zone on 19th Street where you can pull up to unload. I was all set to give this store a 4 for good quality clothing, great service and decent prices... until we checked out. The clerk was very friendly and took off $5 for a Yelp check in, but then my fiance noticed a black jacket hanging behind the counter where other for sale items were displayed; a black Burberry half trench at a very good price. So she tried it on. Well, one of the other store employees had just tried it on, but hung it back up in the 'for sale' section and when the counter clerk mentioned she was looking at it, the employee suddenly got an attitude and exclaimed, "I am buying that!" Well, first, she shouldn't have put it back up if she wanted to buy it, and second, I'm exclaiming that I won't be shopping there again. If that's indicative of how they treat their customers, by ensuring store employees get first dibs on merchandise, then they obviously don't need my dollars. UPDATE: I received two different responses to this event by two different women. In an email from a store manager, I was informed that "volunteers" could not shop while they were working at the store and that the actions of both women that day were out of line with store policy. And in the Yelp response, I am being told volunteers are allowed to hold merchandise, in a sense shop while working, and that the whole thing was a misunderstanding of store policy. The coat was clearly not being held and if it was then why allow my fiance to even try it on and not simply say something like, "I'm very sorry but that item is being held." ??? The whole event was embarrassing and unprofessional. Period. I don't appreciate the attempt to "clarify" what happened. It was a mistake made by the Wardrobe Boutique, not us. I said I wouldn't shop there again and I haven't. And I won't. read more

I stumbled upon this store yesterday...what a great surprise! I love shopping at consignment/thrift stores and The Wardrobe Resale didn't disappoint. They have a really great selection of dress clothes for both men and women. It is evident that they take great care to sort through their merchandise to offer high quality pieces. The prices were reasonable and varied based on whether the pieces were higher end designer labels or just normal brand names. To put it into perspective I bought a blouse with the tags still on it and a pair of very gently used Banana Republic shoes for $30. I would highly recommend shopping here! read more

What a cool place! I was taking a fitness class over in this neighborhood but needed to kill some time, so a visit to Yelp and 15 minute walk later, here I was. This is like an upscale thrift shop, with pretty reasonable prices. It's not a thrift shop in the typical sense, though, because it benefits charity and a lot of the clothes are super nice (including some high-end, well-known designers, whose stuff I would never even dream of owning.) There were lots of nice boots and purses when I was there, and the bridal room is really cool--bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses! They also have rotating exhibits from independent jewelry designers, which I think is really cool. Like any thrift/consignment shop, luck and timing play a huge part. You may strike out sometimes, but it's worth it to come back and see their new stuff. They're pretty good about updating their website and Facebook pages and will even post pictures of the new stuff on Facebook. Also, if you see something you want, GRAB IT. The ladies told me people sometimes put off buying something, and it's almost never there when they return. I ended up getting a cute pair of red heels and a nice bag for under $10, thanks to the Yelp discount--woohoo! I'll definitely be returning here. read more

I thought the selection was a bit old-fashioned and not really fit for my style, and I'm unlikely to find find anything incredibly awesome here except maybe nice pants or a dress somehow. All I can add is that I am definitely unsubscribing to my weekly Gap/BR/EXpress/Etc. e-mails with the weekly coupons, and coming here instead from now on. They have a very large collection of well-organized clothing, and I really liked the vibe! I was really impressed with the quality of the clothing, the good shape it's in, pressed and cleaned, and the fact that I can pick up a pair of designer, well-crafted pants, or a beautiful suit, or a very cute silky chemise, for a fraction of the cost of other stores, even with coupons. There are a few too many items from the Limited and Old Navy for me to fall in love with this spot, but I did find a rather cute dress after foraging for around a half hour. If I come to a consignment store, I want to find higher end stuff for which I choose not to pay a premium. The pant and skirt selection skews tiny and out of date, so you should stick with the tops and dresses. Will I return? Eh, probably not. Though I do think this place is great for a younger set getting ready for their first office job. And I got a great Yelp Deal, so I ended up paying around $5 for a nice, stretchy dress that I can wear to work. read more

I have been here a few times, and enjoyed the experience. Its near my house, so I'll pop in during errands on Saturdays if I am in the area. They have great deals, the clothing is in good quality and for the most part from stores you would actually shop at. Of course you dont always find something, but that is sorta the point of second hand. So far I have been very happy with all items I have purchased there (some even with tags still on but more than 50% off). The items range from the good (Gap, AE) to the great (Coach and other high end). The clothes are in great condition BUT you are not getting them for $3-5. Most items are $10+. Again, for the condition, they are not a rip off but they are not a steal. If you are looking for work clothes or something special to wear out at night...this is wasier than a normal thrift store and cheaper than a regular store! This place has no cons. If only I still lived in Philly to be near the Wardrobe Boutique. The place really does feel like a boutique, even though it's a thrift store. Rows of beautiful clothes all waiting for me to buy them. The fixtures are pretty. The displays are pretty. The rooms are light and airy. It feels better to be in there than a regular retail store. They have a special designer room full of treasures with higher price tags. I love perusing that room. I never did buy anything from that room, but just searching through all the great stuff to try to find the one treasure for me was fun as it was. They have great clearances in the back as well. I found cute skirts and a merino wool sweater for $1.99! And it figures that once I left Philly, they began organizing clothing swaps. Chocolate icing on a double chocolate cake. Oh, I almost forgot! Huge space, very organized, and a separate room for dresses and designer wear. Found a really fun vintage purse for less than $10! Lots of unique finds if you want to spend some time in the store. I showed up here for one of their Saturday clothing swaps held in the community room and ended up raiding the store for deals (probably their goal!). It was sick how much clothing I bought... dresses, shirts, and accessories... all priced for $10-15 (oh, but it was a discount day... score!). For a thrift store, it was clean, organized and had a lot of variety (including a designer room and wedding/bridesmaid dress room). After striking up a couple conversations with the manager and volunteers I learned that all of their proceeds benefit "The Career Wardrobe," a non-profit that helps women transition into the workforce. I came here about a month ago to get a dress for a job interview on a whim as I was nearby. I am almost 7 months pregnant and have always been a savvy shopper so this seemed like a better bet than rooting through somewhere further downtown hoping they had something that was appropriate that fit. Or possibly shelling out $$$ for new maternity wear. Staff was super nice and checked on you without being pushy or over-bearing like some retail associates can be. Though I overheard them talking about two maternity pieces that came in and almost inquired, I found an awesome black and white polka Ann Taylor dress a few sizes up than I normally wear on the clearance rack that seemed like it was just waiting for me. I saw a living social voucher for this place so I paid $25 for a $50 voucher and decided to try and find some good deals. The entire store is not too big and everything in the store has been donated so the selection is not very large but there were some luxury brands. If you head to the cashier's counter there is a display case full of named brand products and I bought my friend a Hermes handkerchief from here for only $40! The store also had items from Gucci, Coach as well as some less famous brands. The store had a promotion when I went so the staff asked me to pop a balloon and inside the balloon was a piece of paper to receive either a percentage of discount or a free item. I thought the idea was fun and clever and the staff was overall helpful when I mentioned that I was looking for Christmas presents. The front of the store has a lot of shoes and accessories while there were racks of clothes in the middle of the store with fancier dresses, shoes and seasonal items in the back of the store. I visited around the time of Christmas so there were many cute Christmas sweaters and I bought a green one with a bear as a gift for a friend. I just recently bought another voucher for this place so definitely will come back again. The deals are well worth the price if you don't mind used items. read more

I love so many things about The Wardrobe Boutique especially the idea of supplying clothing to women in transition when they enter the work force. I often stop in here to shop. Sometimes I find cute things like the near new black jeans I bought at a very good price. I've even bought really cute tops, gloves and shoes. I thought a few of the things were overpriced for the quality and condition they were in the last time I stopped in. Also on the plus side is the turnover rate of the merchandise. The Wardrobe Boutique was the first store on my thrift wedding dress hunt, and it did not disappoint! I got two gorgeous dresses for $60! Not $60 each, $60 TOTAL. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. They just need to be pressed (I'll still have them professionally cleaned). The women in the shop were all nice, and easy to deal with. I think this place is great, especially considering its cause. There are lots of clothes, but in addition to that there are also lots of cute accessories that would be hard to find elsewhere. If any of you ladies out there are looking for a bridal gown, give this place a serious shot. The dresses are in good shape and there is a whole rack of them. There are also clean fitting rooms. The people working here are nice and really helpful. Amazingly enough, they even accept credit cards! There are also good discounts, and they update their facebook page with new deals. The location is a little unusual, but I like it. The only thing I'd change is their hours. They close just as many people are getting off work during the day.
