We are a Mac/Apple family and this is where we go when we need anything. The staff is awesome. We had an issue with one of our computers and without an appointment we walked in and they were able to help right away. Nothing like making a Genius Bar appointment at the Apple store and waiting for a week to get in. The selection is surprisingly good for a smaller retailer. But even when they didn't have something in stock, they get it right away or ship it to the house. Bought the new 16" macbook pro after seeing people suggest Expercom to avoid sales tax and get a $200 discount. It's been 5 days and after 2 emails I still haven't heard anything. The first time (last week) I nonchalantly emailed (understanding that my order was a pre-order) to see if they had some kind of roundabout estimate for delivery. This morning I emailed to get an update because the laptop has been available in stores since last week and I'm frustrated that I don't even know when I'm getting mine (no estimate anywhere and no response from them after a week). Spent almost $3,000. You'd think that warrants an update/response. UPDATE: Just got a reply to my initial email. Not sure if this review prompted it or they are just a bit delayed due to the weekend and it being a Monday (plus I'm eastern and they're pacific so when I wrote this at 5pm my time, they were still open). They said it'll be shipped within two weeks. UPDATE: My laptop was shipped two days prior to the end of their two week estimate. So I'm one of the unlucky ones, or their estimates were low (doubtful since others got their fully customized ones a week prior to me). This has nothing to do with Expercom...just letting others in the same boat know. However, Expercom's shipped email with tracking number said FedEx when it was actually DHL and the tracking link didn't work. I figured it out without having to contact them but that was a small inconvenience. The package shipped from China to America in 3 days and was delivered on Black Friday but I was out of town and had to refuse. They will redeliver on Monday. The only thing I customized was the GPU. Turnaround time to receive was 16 days and I delayed it due to being out of town so it'll end up being 19. Wow. Saw a few posts on reddit about people customizing the hell out of their laptop and getting it a week prior to me. I guess that's the benefit of ordering directly from Apple. It was worth the savings and waiting longer. I just wish Apple gave Expercom more transparency so we could track the progress better. DHL is equally crappy at updating you. read more

I came here per apples suggestion to avoid driving up to fashion place. It turned out to be a very good decision. Though they charge if you check-in your item, They give you all the advice and suggestions you need for free to fix your issue. John was very professional and friendly, and did the diagnostic for me. I was able to find out that my hard drive had failed. This saved me more hassles as that's the end of that computer. I would recommend ExPercom read more

I want to give them a negative zero stars!!! If any of you are referred to or are thinking about going to expercom (at 80 E 10600 S., Sandy, UT 84070) for repairs and or service on your Apple devices, you need to run, NOT WALK but RUN away from there as fast as you can. I have never witnessed such incompetence in a tech retailer in my life. They were not only clueless on how to properly repair a broken screen they continually lied to us about what was being done to the phone and the amount of time it would take to fix the phone. When you tell me it will take no longer than two hours and it takes nearly 6 hours (and it still wasn't fixed) you and I have a MAJOR problem. Customer service 101: when you realize the repair is going to take longer than what you quoted; you should contact the customer to let them know what is going on. If we have to call you to check on the status because we've heard nothing from you (to tell me if it's fixed or not) then we are already heading down the wrong path. Then, when you tell us it will be 7 more minutes and after 45 minutes you still aren't finished... that's when we start to loose any faith we had in you, your employees, and/or your company. Then, when you leave me in the store while someone goes "to check on its progress" and we don't see anyone for 10 more minutes... that's when I loose my cool (to put it mildly). Then, to top it all off, I find out that you can't even fix the phone and Apple will need to send me a new one, and we realized That we just wasted an entire Saturday being lied to, and given the run around because of sheer incompetence... that's when I become extremely livid! So, by me telling you to run away fast from expercom is putting it mildly. read more

My laptop came right on time. The computer is new and what I ordered! Thank you! It was nice I heard from the shop and able to ask information on the product. It is too short on storage right out of the box! Unusable but I didn't realize just how not enough 256 is on a computer. Advice b1-4 TB! I'm stuck because I didn't know as in my fault. This is a glorified iPad. Update: turns out this 256 is enough for use. Once I loaded everything I was surprised. I run film and do many different things with this computer! It still runs great!! RUN AWAY! Worst customer experience of all time. Brought my iMac in they made it worse. I gave them a month to fix my machine. Then called and asked for an update. They promised a call the next day by an engineer 8 days in row and never called. They then told me it was my fault. I cant believe Apple authorizes such a horribly run company. The employee named was was condescending, unprofessional, and just seemed overall put out to answer a few basic questions about how their services work and what they cost. In addition, when I pointed out to him that I was just asking a question and that working in customer service means you don't act so rude, he defended himself and told me that I don't get to decide what his job includes. Over the last few years we have been huge customers of Expercon in Sandy Utah. The repair man for our computers was great. Very friendly, Always a positive experience, because he was so knowledgable and honest. We have sent a lot of people there. Now with this new guy..... NOT SO MUCH... WE WONT BE BACK! He over charged for a data retrieval, gave bad information about the hardware which cause us to buy another computer instead of a simple software fix that we had done at another place. It took too much time to get the date retrieval that we did get from him and he had an attitude that he didn't care and gave us as a customer the feeling that we were not important. I went to Expercom in Sandy a few weeks ago to buy a USB-C to USB adapter for my MacBook Pro, right after Apple shut down their retail stores due to COVID-19. These adapters retail for $19 on Apple's website but the employee at Expercom wanted to charge me $80. When I complained about the price, he offered to sell me a third-party adapter, which also retails for under $20, for $60. I ended up going to Best Buy and buying the adapter for the regular price of $19. I've shopped at Expercom for 15 years. I won't be shopping there again. read more

I took my phone to get my screen replaced yesterday and they were amazing. It was very crowded and all the employees did their best to keep everyone aware of wait times. James (I think that was his name) was quick and effective running diagnostics on both my phone as well as a customer's laptop simultaneously. He often thanked us for allowing him to multi-task. While helping us he also was able to assist a newer employee that had questions. He taught instead of taking over. I was very impressed. read more

I ordered the MBP 16" from Expercom after seeing posts online about the their Black Friday deal. I was at first very hesitant in purchasing from them because I have never ordered from them nor am I a local that have visited their store. Nevertheless I ordered a spec'd out MBP and was given an estimated delivery window. I understand that because it was during the holiday season, there may be tons of delays in getting custom ordered things. I emailed Expercom multiple times and was served with the utmost respect and was given as much knowledge as possible. Even at times I doubted their credibility because I was told my items were shipped but they didn't get a tracking number from Apple and was informed that my item was shipped via DHL which has never ever happened to me before. At the end, they were right and my item arrived via DHL and from my history of ordering other stuff from China, DHL really doesn't have the best tracking system. Nevertheless, my item arrived a whole 9 days before the last day of estimated arrival window. Will order again from Expercom if the price is right! I have seen other reviews about experiencing similar things that I have. I can assure that Expercom is most likely doing the best they can. I spoke with some friends that work for Apple and was told that because Apple needs to look after their behinds first, orders that go through their website gets priority in being customized and some customized options that are more common than others are prebuilt and shipped to Apple Warehouses/Retail stores thus the faster turn around time. Very happy with my iPhone 6 battery service! As I had expected, they were quite busy but I received same day service getting my battery replaced. Very nice people and extremely helpful. I watched as they help other customers at no charge with their questions, including teaching how to back up and restore from iCloud. Even with a store full of people and telephones ringing off the hook they were pleasant with everyone. That alone speaks quite well of them. Made an appointment via Apple to have an iPhone 6 battery swapped, and Apple recommended Expercom. When I arrived 10 minutes early, there was a Customer in front of me who also had an iPhone 6 but was looking for troubleshooting, not a battery swap. When the tall fat bald guy checked me in and went to retrieve the battery for my device he came out of the back room with a battery. He then asked his peer what kind of phone the customer he was working with had, to which his peer replied iPhone 6. The fat bald guy then gave MY battery to that customer and informed me that was the last battery. WTF???? I reminded him I had a scheduled appointment to which he stated that didn't guarantee a battery? Well what good is an appointment if you can't do the one thing I need done? NEVER AGAIN!!!! As an update to the review after Jonathan posted his response; It is incredulous you want me to believe the previous customer came in for a battery when I CLEARLY heard her discussing with the other agent about troubleshooting a phone issue. She then called her husband to discuss whether "iCloud backup" should be done before proceeding. This "defense" just solidified my earlier response....NEVER will I return, and I will certainly continue to share my negative experience with all those in need of Apple repairs/service! #Overit! read more

I've had a number of positive experiences at Expercom, and I've always felt like the staff has taken efforts to make sure my needs were met. They've handled two phone repairs for me (I love to drop my phone) as well as some diagnostics on a super old MacBook. The technician walked me through the repair process as well as options for trading my computer. I was able to get a refurbished MacBook Pro that has been perfect for my needs. They always have super good deals on refurbished phones and computers, and you can often trade in an older model phone for a newer refurbished one and pay waaaay less than you would new. I've never had any trouble with their refurbished Apple products. read more

These guys are good! They know their stuff about Apple products and are honest. I was having some issues with a MacBook Pro I purchased on KSL. Apple told me it sounded like a hardware issue and wanted me to send it to them and they were a week out for an appointment. Expercom got me in within 30 minutes, fixed my MacBook Pro for me while I waited, and gave me some helpful tips on getting my other products to work better. Unfortunately I purchase and iPad on Black Friday from this company, seeing as they were an authorized reseller for Apple. Fast forward to Christmas Day and this iPad never came. It still shows pending. I've called more than once over the past few weeks for them to only say " well they are a little slow this time of year shipping the goods out". At this point I wish I would've purchased the iPad from a local store. This was the " Big gift" for my child at Christmas and now I just get to tell her what her surprise is. Long story short, save yourself time and just go to the Apple store. We had a defective phone, they had to send it in to get approval from Apple to replace it. We waited at the store for about an hour (we had an appointment) because there are only 2 people that work here. Phone finally got replaced, went in to pick up and waited for another hour just to get it because there was only one person working because he was troubleshooting every issue by himself. Found out after wiping the loaner phone that the replacement phone they ordered is the wrong carrier. We are back to waiting for them to 'resolve this with apple'. read more

I placed an order on black friday for the special on MacBook Pro's, fully loaded model 16 inch, everything. After two days I get an email back saying not verified and canceling my order. However, they did charge my credit card, which was approved. I have send three emails asking for an explanation and to have them release the charge if they dont plan on selling this to me. Some communication would be 'great'. However, they went dark. I am leaving for an assignment very far away in two weeks for a long time and if I cannot receive it before I leave, Id need them to hold the item. Again, no word. I am about to hit button with another vendor who I have purchased with in the past and been happy with, so at this moment, I could not recommend these folks. Update: Someone responded about this review. However, the information they provided was incorrect. My address on my charge account is the same as I ordered the product. It would nice if they would call me instead of having to do this in the venue. Also, the charge is in pending status, the credit card company said it was approved. read more

Awful experience! I work through the Apple Support app to get an iPhone 6 Plus battery replacement appointment. The appointment is with Expercom in Sandy, UT - over twenty miles from my home near Park City. When I show up at the store I'm told they don't have spare iPhone 6 Plus batteries available and that they can order the part and I could come back in when the part is received! What a ridiculously unsatisfactory process. Don't allow repair appointments if the required parts aren't available! read more

Stay away! I ordered an iMac that cost over $3000 which was promised to arrive within 2-4 days and was told it was in stock. They have now refused to provide a tracking number or an updated delivery date as well as refused to refund my money. After spending 45 minutes trying to get my phone replaced, they said they couldn't replace it because they were being audited- and knew this the day before. I called ahead, but they didn't tell me this. It was the end of the day too, so I'm sure they would've still realized this fact, and could've told me to go elsewhere to begin with. So they sent me to Fashion Place Apple and could've made an appointment for me (which I didn't know), but didn't. They also didn't send me with any notes to give the other place. I drive to FP and Apple is shocked and mad they didn't make an appointment for me. So I had to wait for an additional 1-1/2 hours to see someone, get all tests redone, just to get a phone replacement. That was 4 hours of my day. I would not waste your time at Expercom with phones.
