We had a private tour for just the two of us, although he assisted some friends we ran into along the way. He had cold drinks ready and carried them on our hike for us. Vene was polite, professional, and a perfect guide for our adventure. He was a lending hand for the steep and slippery areas, always keeping an eye out for danger. He explained the songs and chants of the Hawaiian culture as we went. My only disappointment was we hadn't booked Epic any other adventures. The BEST parts were that he took us to waterfalls to jump off of--first was the smallest one that my husband, brother-in-law and I jumped off of. Then it was one double the size, that only Christian and my husband jumped off of. Christian really guided him through it and kept jumping in himself to show examples. What an adventure! He was super knowledgeable, took us to get sweet banana bread and good food in Hana, and we had one last swim at a beautiful Red Sand Beach. Highly recommended private tour to fit your needs! Roger was an amazing tour guide. His known facts about the sights we visited and the marine life we saw helped add to the amazing experience we had. And he was very accommodating. In the water, I had a goggle malfunction (something I was doing wrong) and he immediately swam over to me and swapped his goggles with mine. He really wanted us to have a great experience. The other thing I loved was that Roger took pictures of everything we saw and even of us. He posted them on Facebook and texted me when he did. I don't have a waterproof case for my camera so I was very grateful for this. I copied the pics and posted them right away for my friends to see. I loved this kayak/snorkel experience and will book it again when we return. The only thing I would recommend is that you use the restroom before hand. There are no stops and honestly, you don't want to! I could have gone another 2 hours.

I could…read moredetail the tour and talk about all the great views but that is pretty much the same with all the bike tour companies that go up the volcano. Since we have toured with other companies, I want to tell you what I think Maui Bombers does better. If you want general information about the route, check their website. Communication- instead of only getting canned responses from the internet reservation program you get messages from Matt that respond back to his cell phone. Small Group- only six in our group. We jumped in a Honda Pilot and headed up the volcano with Matt and Eric. The small group size created a more intimate experience. We talked with each other, shared experiences and had laughs. Matt and Eric joined our conversations as well. We all got to know each other a little bit. You don't get that on a bus with 15 other people. Hospitality- we were taken care of by the guys who run the company not employees who may or may not have the best interest of the company in mind. Matt fresh baked treats for us and worked to make everyone feel like family. Seriously, Matt could also be a baking star with his Coconut Muffins and Lilikoi Bars. Guess Eric doesn't bake, but he does drive well. Equipment- we rode newer Trek mountain bikes with street tires. Comfortable helmets, windbreakers and gloves also provided if you like. Upgrade from the single speed heavy cruiser bikes most tour companies use. The Treks are nimble and easy to ride. Tour Route- we had a longer tour route than other companies, on the way down we passed the other groups loading up while we were on the way to the beach. Personality- Matt is a loud energetic let's have fun kinda of guy, great for a guide. Played inspirational music from his bike to keep the energy up. Did I mention Matt is loud and animated? Eric is a little more reserved but is there to take care of business loading/unloading bikes, driving the safety car and just making sure everything is great. Great team, very professional. Safety- I don't mean to imply that you will be unsafe on any of the other tours but we felt safe and taken care of on our tour with Maui Bombers. Good bike check and safety briefing and hand signals. I appreciate that Matt leads the way, warning if necessary and making turns on the correct roads. Eric followed behind in the safety car keeping traffic at bay and letting Matt know when we needed to find a pull off spot to let traffic pass. We saw one tour where the guide followed the pack, yikes...guide following? Our tour also left a little later allowing most of the local and tourist traffic to clear the volcano and villages so we had the road pretty much to ourselves. Photos and Videos- along the tour Matt takes photos and videos of the group and scenery. While that is not unique, on the way back Matt airdrops all the photos and videos to everyone. No extra charge and they are great quality. Really nice perk. Price- Maui bombers was a bit higher than some of the others but you know what, you get what you pay for. Small group, equipment, snacks, photos...yeah, you get what you pay for. The Real Deal- Matt and Eric are the guys. They take care of you like their business and reputation depends on it because it does. The energy is great. These are the reasons for my five star review of Maui Bombers. Highly recommended.

He left it up to me if I wanted to do that or cancel. We were game and we said let's go. Pick up was easy. Plus Matt does small parties. We start off with the coconut pineapple muffin he made. Which was insanely delicious. Then he says"we are going to drive up and double check to see if we can get in because there has been no updates". We got lucky and we made it up the mountain as they had fixed the sink hole and the road was clear. We were the only ones up there because the other bike company did not even try. So that was a big bonus. We had one in our party decide it was too dangerous and Matt handled that perfectly. And then she tried to bike an easier part and quit. He handled that perfectly too. Then we got to check out Makawao for 20 min. Which was cool. Then we rode all the way down to Pa'ia. And met him at Baldwin Beach area. 17 total miles of bike riding. All easy coasting. Of course the first 7 miles is all switchbacks and thrilling. With Matt you do not have to wear motorcycle helmets, you wear bike helmets. Matt provides that and optional bike gloves. He even has wind breakers if you forget yours. We all had the best bike ride of our lives. No joke. We are still talking about it today. And actually that is not a bike ride. That is a thrill ride. All those switchbacks etc. Matt drives you back to your car at Target. He gives you a second treat. His passion fruit squares. These were very delicious too. The female half was a pilot. While talking she recommended to us that we should take a sunset flight over Maui with her old boss at Maui Plane Rides. She said it was truly a life changing experience. Well, that was enough for us, we booked one and embarked on our journey a few days later. We arrived to the small airport and met our pilot, Eric was his name maybe? He was originally from New York and was a very friendly fellow. He did his pre flight checks and we loaded into the plane and away we went. The pilot flew us all over the island and he was a very informative with his knowledge of the island and local history. The flight path he took was truly EPIC! He let my wife fly the plane for about 5 minutes, which was super cool of him. The flight was absolutely a must do if you have the opportunity and the funds. You will never see a sunset quite like the sunset over Maui from a plane. It was the most beautiful sunset ever. And I have seen many sunsets in many locales. The experience was top notch, the pilot was A+++++ and the night was truly incredible as our newly met Colorado friends stated it would be. I cannot recommend Maui Plane Rides enough, the experience was truly like nothing we've ever done before.

After the flight, I requested a partial refund because we only received about half of the promised tour. The pilot then claimed he had warned us that weather would prevent us from seeing several locations, which simply isn't true. I understand that weather can affect flights, but customers should be clearly informed when major parts of the advertised experience won't be delivered. Poor communication and misleading expectations made this a frustrating experience.

From the moment I booked with Jana, who answered all our questions and briefed us before the flight, I knew this was the absolute best helicopter tour in Maui! And Nick with his 20,000 hours and 37 years of flying (20 years in Maui) was safe, professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun! I'm a retired Air Force pilot with 22 years of experience. The ride up is fun with a quick visit to the National Park included to see the crater firsthand, followed by some fun pictures jumping out of the clouds! Ride with Kimo to learn how they get those pictures! The ride itself starts just outside the National Park (limited by newer regulations limiting tour rides in the park itself) to enjoy the switchbacks - a video is included below! Those turns are not difficult - so don't let that part dissuade you from taking the tour. Stop at the town of Makawao for lunch (Freshies had a good menu) and ride like bandits back to the shop as the lag van holds traffic back a bit to clear the roadway for you! The island is open for business, save some small parts around Lahaina itself still recovering from the devastating fires of 2023, with limited impact elsewhere on the island. Take this trip now while the crowds are a bit lighter too, you won't regret it at all as Maui is just beautiful! Ka'anapala just north of Lahaina is hopping!
