She has a big heart and a crazy love for this island. We've lived on Maui for a couple years and she taught us some cool stuff that we didn't know. We hopped in her big van and had a fun tour to: -Ocean Vodka -Surfing Goat Dairy -Ali'i Lavander Farm -Ulupalaku Ranch + Maui wine And along the way she handed out fresh banana bread (that SHE baked!) and cold bottles of water (say what? So thoughtful!) As we drove, she would point out things like: the kinds of trees we were seeing, the history of this or that, how things had changed over the years... Interesting things that kept the conversation flowing. Her van has a microphone for her to use so it's great for people who sit in the back. We could hear everything she was saying. She made sure to open doors for guests and make sure the temperature inside the van was okay for everyone. There are different tours to choose from to hone in on where you want to go and what you want to see. She really knows her stuff and made us smile and laugh with her bubbly personality and energy. Prior to the pick up, Marilyn was always available via phone if I had questions about planning the logisitics and I found her to be very sweet and kind over the phone. As soon as Marilyn greeted me at the pick up, I knew I was in for a real treat. She has this magnetic energy and passion. She knows how to connect with people and make them feel comfortable. I was traveling alone and joined a group of others wonderful tourists that were part of the tour. Marilyn and Robbie were well versed in their knowledge of the history of the culture, agriculture and plants. The tour included stops at the lovely Lavender garden, Maui winery, and the Surfing Goat Dairy. Their timing was spot. One of the highlights of the tour was the lunch. It was in a lovely park, tucked away in a hillside, overlooking Maui, It was a perfect day. The real treat was when Marilyn pulled out her Ukulele and started singing lovely songs - one of which was "Somewhere over the rainbow". It was delightful. The tour ended with the other tourists departing at the airport. This was not just an ordinary curbside drop-off. Marilyn actually accompanied them to the check in counter and helped them get their bags through. This is not something that an ordinary tour company would do. I remained in the van and chatted with the delightful Robbie. I cannot thank Maui Country Farm Tours for such a memorable experience. It was truly one of the highlights of my trip, and I could not have done the trip alone. Marilyn has contacts and knows the inside scoop on how these various businesses operate. Tip, do not eat a big breakfast prior to going on this tour and make sure to use the restroom stops which there were only 2; at Tante's and Maui Brewing Company. Food is shared and samples, so make sure you alert the tour guide of any food allergies. Quinn provided hand sanitizer, cold water bottles, utensils, and napkins as well as our shuttle van was a Mercedes Benz. He was very knowledgeable of the island of Maui, even telling us stories of volcanoes and the origin of the Shaka. He was also very accommodating to my father who requires assistance with his walker. The tour was from 9am-2pm; had a local flair and my favorites were the poke and the shave ice. So enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors of this Maui food tour and ask for Quinn!

Prior to booking, I specifically asked if the tour was fully operational and was assured that it was, with only one stop being eliminated. This turned out to be inaccurate. We were not informed ahead of time that multiple key parts of the tour would be canceled. Instead, we only found out after we were already on the bus, and at that point, we were not given the option to cancel or make an informed decision. Several advertised stops were not included, and no proper substitutions were provided. Despite this, when we followed up with the company, they claimed we were taken to a red sand beach -- which is simply not true. This kind of inaccurate response only added to the frustration. We politely requested a partial refund due to the changes and lack of transparency, but this was denied. Customer service was poor and not understanding, especially considering the $250 per person spent on this tour. Overall, the issue is not the tour guide, but the company's lack of honesty, communication, and accountability. I would strongly advise others to reconsider before booking.

I can say with 100% confidence that Wade provided above and beyond what I expected for a guided tour and is the best I've experienced so far. There is a list of reasons on why I am giving such rave review for Wade... his knowledge, his passion, his consideration, I can go on and on. All those 'ingredients' must be present to make an excellent tour. For example, I once went on a guided tour where the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate... but has no consideration of who her audiences were. She bored me to tears after the first 30 min of the 5 hour tour.... Our trip to Maui was a part of a good friend's birthday trip. She actually was the one that found No Ka Oi Adventures and told me she wants to sign up for the all day tour. When she told me how long and how much it would be, I kinda did a... O.o I was a bit skeptical. So I started reading all the reviews about No Ka Oi Adventures and about Wade. I was very impressed by the rave reviews from various travel sites. So my husband and I went along with it. However, being a natural skeptic, I still had my doubts. I had done larger tours and felt they were very 'generic'. I had done customized private tours and had the tour guides kept asking "where do you want to go next?"... which I responded with, "dude, you are the expert, tell me where we should go next!" So spending ALL day with a tour guide to me was a big risk for our precious time in Maui. Here is what made our all day tour so freakin' awesome. Our party of six ranged from early 30s to 60s... yea, so it's not like we all have the same physical strength etc. But, Wade took the time to ask before hand (via email) what the party make up is and preferences so he can prepare for an itinerary. The day started early and our first destination was a what I considered 'medium' hike. He was very attentive and even said that this particular hike helps him determine what kind of activities are appropriate for our party. Throughout the day, I can tell he has a cache of places and BACK UPs in case some places didn't work out. There were times when he would ask our preferences so he can present options and customize based on that, and then there were times (when much needed) he would let us know HIS preferences. I can't stress what a fine line it is as a tour guide to dance between customize for your customers vs. use your own expertise to 'push and nudge' so your customers can enjoy what they might not even know existed. Wade handled it with flying colors. We had a great time that my original concern of having a 12 hour long day with a tour guide felt like it was too short. He not only came well prepared (again, a cache of BACK UP places, all the gears you might need to snorkel, towels, sun screen etc), he was personable and fun to chat with. His picks of destinations is a combination of scenic routes and look outs, adventurous places and activities, local establishments to try various treats, and paths less known and traveled. We learned a great deal because he was knowledgeable and personable and can pretty much strike up a conversation on a wide variety of topics. I think everyone can enjoy a tour with Wade. I do caution that it is no "luxury" tour (i.e. you have to work to be rewarded in some areas). But if you have an open mind, communicate your preferences, and let him take the lead, you will be rewarded with many pleasant surprises, fun activities, and just overall a great experience.
