We created tons of cool memories and had new experiences thanks to our tour guide Keone. It's a smaller mom and pop type tour company, which we liked. The tour groups r smaller; we were supposed to have a group of 3 joining our group of 3 but they cancelled so we had the tour all to ourselves! Be ready for a full day; they picked us up from our hotel around 9am and got back to our hotel in the evening. They provide lunch and snacks. Also be ready to get your shoes dirty! Bring layers for the ever-changing rainforest weather and bug spray if mosquitoes like you. It seems like they will customize the tour according to the group and likes/dislikes. My group consisted of three 29 year old adventurous active ladies but i think it would be good for families too. We went to a local market, Buddhist temple-like place. We went on a hike through a bamboo forest, saw rainbow eucalyptus, banyan trees, ate guava and flowers (that's right, we ate ginger flowers!) that were growing in the fields. We saw beautiful colorful tropical birds. We did a short hike to a waterfall and then went swimming in the waterfall. We went to a black sand beach which we had all to ourselves. We went to a beach full of turtles on the sand. We tried lilikoi and fresh homemade banana bread. We moved at our own pace; if we wanted to stay at one place longer, we could. We spent quite a bit of time in the car (I took Meclizine to avoid motion sickness from the windy road) but Keone spent that time to educate us on... EVERYTHING Hawaii! We learned tons from Keone and he made us feel taken care of. We thought about driving Hana Road on our own but I'm SO glad we decided to take this tour. Take the tour to make some awesome memories, be safe (the road has many one way parts and u want to be able to enjoy the beautiful view), and learn all about the rich Hawaiian history and land. It's SO worth the money, I don't think you'll be sorry :)

He showed us large colorful photos of the six or seven places we would see on our reasonably priced tour. With our group of six he told us we would have our own private van and tour guide. The flyer stated we would have a healthy organic snack and beverage included although the salesman said the van would stop at the Mano Market and we would purchase our own snack. He also said he would have a table and chairs for us to sit on at the scenic lunch stop. We went for it at $65 per person for the Half-way to Hana Tour. When we met up with our tour guide the next morning she was very friendly and personable and on time. The van was new, seat belted and she was a very good driver. The rub was we though we would be stopping every ten or 15 minutes for some sort of tour site. We stopped briefly at an overlook of the beach where the seal turtles come in and the guide said we would return to that spot later at the end of the tour to see the turtles. soon we stopped at the Mano Market to pick up our food and drinks. There was no ice chest or any other means to keep our food and drink cool. I was concerned about possible food poisoning with the food in a hot storage area with out a means to cool it. Then we continued on up the road to Hana. It is an endless serious of very sharp turns that go on forever. We made no stops for at least 45 minutes and by that time two out of the six in our group had motion sickness and did not want to go on. Consequently we went no further than that one stop. This wasn't the fault of the tour company but had we known we would be driving around such a windy road without a stop every 15 minutes or so we probably would not have signed up for it. We opted to eat lunch at this stop but there were no tables and chairs. There were a couple of park benches but only one was in the shade and it was occupied. We ended up sitting on wet grass in the shade eating our now warm drinks and sandwiches. Not a comfortable situation for senior citizens. When we finished eating we headed back to the sea turtle area and took a long break there and saw the sea turtles. It it hadn't been for that the tour would have been a complete bust. Although all of us liked the young friendly girl who was our guide, she was not able to offer up the kind of informative, educational information about the things along our route that other tour guides offer up in a more professionally operated tour. She was just a very nice friendly young girl who was a good driver. The bottom line is we payed $65 each for a drive up a windy road to eat warm sandwiches, drink warm sodas, and set on wet grass, see several sea turtles, and spend some time in a bar drinking a beer to use up the extra time that we had because we couldn't take the drive half-way up to Hana. With a guide with more information on local history and lore it might have been okay but that was not the case. My recommendation is pay a bit more and get a "real" tour.

He made sure the trip was relaxing and tailored the day to our needs (lots of naps and beach time). He was also an incredibly safe driver and would pull over to allow faster vehicles to pass instead of rushing. I'm so glad that he was driving instead of me or my husband! Donovan also kept my husband entertained the entire ride with fun facts about the island. His knowledge about the history of Maui is vast! Would highly recommend this tour to any family looking for a more relaxing way to enjoy the Road to Hana!

Homemade chocolates that feel like a secret only locals know ... so good I actually proposed to the man making them! Exotic fruits picked right there, handed to you with a "try this." And even shampoo picked from the trees Levi style...bc apparently that's just a normal Friday in Levi's world. lunch... an unforgettable, messy, perfect picnic style kind of lunch of smoked pork ribs and corn on the cob, eaten like you have nowhere else to be and all the time in the world. Shared with maybe the best part...the stories. The kind that make you laugh, pause, and realize you're sitting with someone who chose a different kind of life and never looked back. And sharing it all with my best friend of 40 years...the kind of friendship that just gets it without needing to say a word...clearly a bucket list score!! We ended the day above the clouds, watching the sun melt into the sky at Haleakalā completely in awe. Somewhere between the waterfalls, the laughter, and the stories... something shifted. We stopped thinking. We stopped planning. We just were...And now I get it. Why someone would come here for a trip...sell their plane ticket...and leave it all behind... Born and raised on Maui and I've never been snorkeling before, Captain Manu and Captain Reece made me feel comfortable for my first time snorkeling. Very knowledgeable about marine life and and very helpful. Both captains have years of experience in marine life and wildlife. They had bottles of water and snacks for our convenience if we didnt bring anything else. We were welcome to bring our own snacks and drinks as long as it wasn't in a glass container or alcohol since this is a family friendly activity. I never realized that snorkeling makes you hungry. But they had chips, so that helped a lot. Our first stop was Manele Bay. I told them I know how to swim but I wasn't comfortable without a floatation device over the reef because I didn't want to accidentally damage the reef. It was so beautiful and it changed my life, so much so that I'm adding snorkeling to my list of hobbies. Our second stop was Mala Ramp. Got to see turtles, white tip sharks, and fish that I normally see behind glass. We even had a dolphin pod following us. It was magical!! During this snorkel trip I learned that Captain Reece goes on research trips to study whale migration and habits. Capt. Reece also studies coral and does coral restoration here on Maui. Captain Manu was a volunteer at some of the lahaina distribution hubs after the fires and helped other survivors get back on their feet. I also learned that Capt Manu has been working on boats for over 15 years. So yes, the crew has a lot of experience. It was a private…read moretour with Kyle driving (my husband was so happy) and we saw waterfalls, swam in lagoons, hit up beautiful beaches, ate wild berries, had coconut ice cream from a food truck, had the best poke bowl ever, hung out with turtles, and saw so much of Hana. An amazing adventure day for the whole family! Cannot recommend him enough! Kyle brought drinks, snacks, towels, incredible knowledge, and a wonderful personality. He personalizes the tour to what we wanted to see and we loved talking with all day and listening to his incredible knowledge of Maui. Can't wait to book again with him! It was an absolute highlight of our trip.

Combined with the fact that the road to Hana is nicknamed "the Road to divorce", well that made it an easy decision to go along with it. I am so glad I did! Kyle was an amazing tour guide. Not only was he well prepared for the trip with snacks and drinks, the vehicle was extremely comfortable, and he provided a running commentary all along the way of facts and history. Best of all, he stopped at places which people who were driving themselves would never know about. We would literally pass dozens of cars parked on the side of the road only to go down the way about a mile, pull off on some side road, and find an even better more secluded beach to swim. First part was ok. Cory was very chatty and knowledgeable. We stopped to get helmets and jackets ( although the jackets were basically useless and not lined nor kept me warm). Arrived over an hour before sunrise... Cory's part ended and the bike portion started. To not rehash the entire thing, Russ was the leader and although he went over safety rules, he really didn't seem that concerned: big distances between riders, he mixed me up with another rider, chewed me out and told me I wasn't following directions and would not listen to me tell him otherwise;; later he said he couldn't tell us apart and I was the only one not in black/gray; it was a small group of 8 and there was a huge distance between the first two riders; he started off saying that the heaviest people would be the fastest-/ I was the lightest/ smallest and he told me I needed to go faster to catch up; he and the first rider who was a big girl and originally nervous and why she was in front were literally several hundred YARDS ahead of me ( and therefore everyone else); didn't go over speed bump navigation or hand signals until the last stop ( and there were multiple stops); I needed my bike adjusted bc the seat was too low and hurt my knees and he told me it was mostly cruising anyway and ignored my request after I told him I had had 2 knee surgeries.Appeared very condescending to me after the first incident. He also said if the directions aren't followed / he feels a rider is unsafe that he will have them sit in the van and that's the end of their ride---The sad thing was that one of the riders who went down literally less than a minute from the end and was taken away by ambulance..and she was the one he confused with me the very first part and obviously didn't follow his own safety instructions...but even their safety/ 911 protocol was unacceptable-- took them a while to call 911after she went down. Didn't seem like he knew how to handle the situation. Had two of the riders direct traffic using the companies walkie talkies and the batteries died ( aren't they supposed to be fully charged every ride???...)then Russ tells me after that he is certified as a first responder as he takes a 40 hour course yearly. Very pompous and showed no critical decision making skills the entire trip ( I am a physical therapist, 35+ years)....no tip for him. I highly recommend he be fired and welcome the owner to contact me through Yelp. Anthony, the assistant (driver) was very nice and helpful but the scary thing is he said that Russ is their best tour leader :0 Beautiful ride otherwise (5/5) DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY

My wife, Kari, broke her foot 2 days ago so we modified our excursions and eliminated hiking to attractions. Kellen quickly came up with some alternatives and explained/described them perfectly. Kellen's knowledge of the area, the plants, the trees, and the sights were full of insight and knowledge that only a local would have! We throughly enjoyed it. His driving was superb, professional, and cautious (complete with short horn honks on the countless 1 lane blind turns). We enjoyed the small independent farms, stands, and choices for lunch too. As a side note, Kellen's personal relationship with those owners opened the door to Kari being able to use a non-public restroom.
