She got through my taxes in just a few minutes albeit my tax case was relatively simple and cut through. Kathy went over my taxes with me and explained each line to me. Then explained the amounts I would be getting for my federal and state tax refunds. I liked at the end how Kathy put everything in a nifty blue folder for me to take. Through Google and Yelp reviews, I decided to join Real Estate school at One Stop Realty and Financial under Mr John Nguyen as an Instructor. He s also a California Real Estate Broker. English was my second language, and it became my major road block. I suffered from lack of self-confidence and was afraid to speak up during class as I fear of being laughed at with my poor English pronunciation.  Fortunately, my English language issue was solved, since John offers real estate classes in both English and Vietnamese, which really helps me understand and catch up with all the lectures.. Teacher John was truly awesome. He made the material super easy to understand, digest and retain. He was ALWAYS available to answers thoroughly any questions I had from either the textbook or a real life scenario case.  I really liked the way he teaches in class. He kept all real estate chapters very interested with applying them to real life scenario. He often called out students and asked them to share their thoughts to make sure they understand the material. I was very embarrassed at first, when he called me up, but later I realized it really helped me improve my critical thinking on my day by day events. I also loved his great attitude and his sense of humor.  Believe it or not, when I first signed up in class,  I knew nothing about real estate, and I now finished the class with a whole lot of knowledge.  I passed Real Estate Salesperson exam on the first try....YEAH!! Once paid, they offered little further assistance. Significant miscommunication between staff members on essential elements of our filing. Longer version: We hired a tax preparation service to help navigate changes to our filing status after getting married. Our tax consultant, Garrett Jones, began working on our application with the wrong filing status. After correcting this error, there was poor communication regarding important changes that needed to be followed up on, which resulted in IRS notices arriving in June. When I raised my concerns with Garrett, his guidance was vague and he offered no clear timeline for resolution. Weeks later, with no progress made, I was left with the impression that once he had been paid, his investment in us as clients had ended. I spent approximately 10 hours on the phone with the IRS trying to sort out the status of our account. Throughout this process, Garrett maintained that I owed approximately $2,000 to the IRS -- when in fact I had a pending refund of approximately $2,000. In the end, we were left with a significant miscalculation, poor customer service, and no choice but to resolve everything ourselves. I'm still unclear what the fee we paid to Crossroads Financial Planning actually covered. Highly recommend taking your taxes elsewhere.
