In 2022, I contracted Express Air Conditioning and Heating of Pensacola to replace a failing HVAC and install an high efficiency variable speed system for my home. Without my knowing, from the start, they violated the manufacture's guidelines by using an unauthorized thermostat. After install I noticed the system was not variable, either jet engine on or off. They came back once and changed a circuit board to dumb it down so they could install another unauthorized thermostat. I noticed it still wasn't what I paid for. Months of phone calls were ignored so, frustrated, I paid 3 other HVAC companies to try to get it working properly. No go because Express Air basically broke it. To get the high efficiency system I wanted, I had to bite the bullet and replace the damaged system they installed. I lost over $10,000 because of Express Air's incompetence and will forever feel for other unknowing customers who are duped by this company. I am currently in ongoing legal pursuits. read more

I scheduled an appt to get a quote to replace my A/C. It was not an emergency; just planning ahead. The woman that scheduled my appt asked if I wanted to be called or receive a text. I said that I wanted a text. I get so many robocalls that I don't answer phone calls. She said she understood. My Thursday appt was 12-2 but it was moved to 3-5, b/c the tech was running late. Ok, not a problem. So i get home around 2:30 on Thursday & was at home for the rest of the day - without receiving a text from the tech. Around 5:00, I started wondering when, or if, the tech would show. He didn't. Around 6:30, I was looking at the security camera footage, & there he was at 3:30, walking around my house. No text, no knock. Just a card left in the screen door. Ummm, ok... so I listen to my voicemails & one was from Johnny, the tech. I then got in touch with him - via text - and we reschedule for the following Monday. I texted him on Monday morning & he replied that I was on his schedule from 3-5. So again, I went home early from work, arriving at 2:30 for the remainder of the day, only to never hear from him again. I give them at 2 stars b/c although he attempted to make up the missed Thursday appt, he ghosted me. And if a company cannot follow simple instructions, like texting, then I don't trust them fora big purchase like an AC/heating unit install. read more

My goal is to cut down on the time and anxiety one goes through while trying to find a service/repair contractor. I would give them 5 stars from my initial phone call to the payment of the bill. After two weeks of my Heat Pump not working properly (and much deliberation), I finally broke down and decided to call a repair company. I landed on Express Air Conditioning & Heating Inc. because of their positive reviews and because they are local. - This past Friday, I called in around 9:00 am. The office administrator scheduled me for later that day (between 1-3 pm)! She explained their modest service fee and that the tech would call when he was on his way. - The tech called me close to 1:00 pm and said he would be at my home in 20-30 min. - My technician, Mr. Minh B., was professional, polite, knowledgeable, and patient. The issue was a thermostat programming issue (my fault). He was quick to diagnose, but was very thorough and checked out my whole system. To my surprise, he didn't try to "up-sale" me on any other services or products. And he didn't try to rush off to his next "more profitable" service call. He stayed to answer all of my questions openly and honestly. To say I am pleased with my experience with Express Air Conditioning & Heating Inc. would be an understatement. The most deplorable customer service, and company, I have ever dealt with. Dishonest work from start to finish, and that is if you can get them to show up when they say they will- since they were over two hours late to every single appointment made, IF they showed up at all. Over one month later, we are still dealing with the initial repair they were hired to do for us- as well as damage they caused in the process. In the end, we will be out $1,800 between what they took from us and what another company is charging in order to clean up their mess. Both my husband and I have called multiple times asking to speak to the owner and were told verbatim that "he didn't have time" to call us back. We have been hung up on countless times by the office manager, and the technician (Drew) stood in our house mincing his words as we asked him to explain how we would be having more problems days after his repair if it had been done correctly. We have reached out, again, this afternoon (September 29th) to give this company the opportunity to refund our money or have the owner call us. We continue to receive the same treatment. So, in addition to taking this to small claims court, we will be reporting them to great lengths: the BBB of NWFL, the Pensacola Chamber, and any/all online review sites we can, in hopes that we spare someone the grief and loss of money and time that we have experienced. I WAS a loyal customer of Express Air and have always been completely satisfied with their service and professionalism. We even had them replace my unit a few years past. Never considered anyone else. Their technicians are great. My son-in-law started using Express Air after asking for a recommendation. He too was a loyal customer and he too had Express Air eventually replace their HVAC unit. All was good until this month when their A/C stopped cooling. For nearly a week it took four trips for Express Air to identify the problem (the intake/out-take (?)) ductwork in the crawlspace collapsed and needed to replaced. An estimate was also provided at that time. This is where the nightmare and disappoint begins. Everyday my son-in-law was promised a return call by the receptionist and everyday the promised call was never received. Not even once. He was also given excuses as to why she couldn't schedule (need to paperwork from tech tomorrow afternoon [not morning], etc. Different reason every time. For whatever reason the receptionist refused to schedule a date for service and constantly didn't return a single promised call. The last straw is when she said she would give him a call before leaving the office but did not. She went home for the weekend instead. After waiting two days to get an appointment scheduled the receptions suddenly told him (after he called her), that they don't replace duct work in the summertime (even though it's a crawl space). Tells him after he waited two additional business days. The only way to describe my son-in-law's dealings with the receptionist is that he was being jerked around. I can't think of any other explanation; perhaps it was a power trip, she simply didn't care, or both. Why am I writing this review and not my son-in-law? Because my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson have been staying with me and my wife during this entire nightmare. I am an ear-witness and witnessed first-hand how my family members have been jerked around. I am also writing this review to state that Express Air hasn't lost just one loyal customer, they lost two. In the interim Air Design Systems responded, provided an estimate, and are scheduled to resolve the issue in a timely manner. Goodbye Express Air, hello Air Design Systems. All this due to an unprofessional and uncaring receptionist. Oh, and BTW. I called her last week and requested the owner of Express Air give me a call since that is her boss -- once again the request (and return phone call) never transpired. She either ignored my request or the owner simply refused to call me. Either way - at this point I don't care. Thank you Express Air for nothing. About three weeks ago, I called Express for heater repair. My unit was given a 10-year parts and labor warranty when installed in 2012. I was told that no one was available. I asked to speak to a supervisor and again, I was told no none was available. I wrote a letter to the owners explaining my experience. After receipt of the letter, an owner called me and apologized profusely, saying that's not the way they do business. Yesterday, 1/14/21, I made an appointment for today for between 1-4 p.m., again for heater repair. No one showed up, no one called and no one is answering the telephone. I will pay some other service to repair this unit and I will not buy another new unit from them, nor will I hire them for any sort of service and I certainly won't give them a good recommendation. I purchased my air conditioning unit from Express Air 2 years ago. It has given us excellent service but the Thermostat stopped working during the night. I called first thing this morning and the servicemen were here by noon, replaced the thermostat, checked the inside and outside units and made sure the air conditioning was cooling my house before they left. I called these guys from New Orleans at almost 5:00pm on a Thursday to see if they could look at the central AC at my AirBNB house in Pensacola. I had a renter in the house and the AC just stopped working. The woman who took my call was friendly and professional. They responded to the location quickly and had a repair guy there in about an hour. Their fee for the home visit was reasonable, and their fee for the after-hours call was extremely reasonable. The repair tech, Jonathan, found the problem quickly and called me to discuss it. He fixed the problem fast and was out of my renter's hair with no issues. Never bothered to call. When WE called THEM at the end of the day we were told, "Oh, I talked with my supervisor and we decided we can't help you. We're too busy." And that was the end of it! No offer of, "We could schedule you next week"! When asked if there was another company they could recommend, they said we should look for a bigger company, one with more resources! I have used Express Air on two previous occasions. My ac system was old and would have some problem about every year and a half. When the outside unit stopped working, I called them. They could not make it out until the next day between 2 - 5 pm. I made the appointment, left work early to be there in case they showed up at 2. I waited until 4:30 and called the office to make sure the technicians were not going to quit at 5 pm. The person who answered told me they were running behind but assured me that they would be there. Well, they never showed up and no one would answer the phone at that point. Around 7 pm, I called another company, One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, they showed up in 40 minutes. Replaced my unit the next morning. Five days later, the tech from Express called to say he was on his way. He did not know about the original appointment. I don't know what happened, but I will not be calling them again. They outright lied to me when I called the second time to check on the status. I would have been ok with hearing that they could not make it, but they wasted my time with that lie. We had been having AC issues for about a year and had Express Air Conditioning and Heating come out last year to give a quote for a new unit. Last year we decided to wait not wanting to take that jump and have the extra expense right then. However, the last week our unit was not keeping up and I called them back. When I called for a quote they had a representative there at a time that fit my needs. Johnny was very thorough with his explanation and estimate once he evaluated my situation. He gave me an exact cost including all new items that would be installed and also explained the warranties. He gave me a signed copy and told me to call him if I had any other questions, which I did several times and he addressed them. My Wife and I decided to go with Express Air the following Tuesday and asked if they could install that Friday. They said absolutely. Todd and Scott were on time Friday morning and after a brief introduction, they went right to work. These two guys know what they're doing and didn't waste any time getting it done and also doing it right. They didn't even take a lunch break. A few years ago Express installed a new system in my house,Installation went well but I notice at the end they were rushing to get it done without doing a complete operational and leak detection check on the whole system.Well after a year We notice the brand new system was not putting out cold air so I called them out to check on it.They said there was a leak and it had to charged,Bad news was the warranty expired and they charged me an arm and a legs for something they installed another thing they couldn't tell me were was the leak but said they just tightened something out.Guess what the next year same old problem,this time I called someone else and within 30 minutes the guy found a very small leak brought about by poor soldering technique.He fixed it and has been working ever since.Express I'm not impress!! read more
