Nice store. A bit of a walk from the train station. If you're anything like me and not the greatest with directions you'll end up getting lost. It's a lot of left and right turns just to arrive on a corner as if you're turning tricks lol. This location is a decent size with trendy pieces to boot. Express is one of my favorite brands and since losing weight I've been ordering clothes online every month. Nothing wrong with treating yourself, right? With all of that being said I'd never purchase anything from Express without a coupon or a huge sale. Items here are definitely quality material but the price tag can be hefty. read more

There was one worker with glasses very helpful explained all the signage to correctly tell us what was discounted and what wasn't. But didn't have our size in a sweater we wanted. Told us we could have the cashier order it online for us. Went to the girl with the pink hair. She heavily sighed and asked us if we're paying with cash. My husband said "we could yea" she goes "no I mean card." He goes "yea sure we could as well" she then goes "no urgh I mean could you not pay with cash just card I only take card" I then chimed in and said "yes he clearly said he can do either or." She didn't reply but just stuck her hand out to take our red sweater. Then I asked "another worker said if we couldn't find this sweater in black that you--" she cuts me off to say "no whatever we have out on the floor is what we got" I go "...okay I was gonna say that you could order it online if you have" she goes "oh yea". I go "okay great can you please check if they even have it thanks". She sighs heavily again. My husband finishes paying for the red sweater at the cashier. And she starts asking for our delivery address. And I whisper to my husband "wait do you want the sweater apparently they have it she didn't even let us know she was checking when I asked her just let us know if it's even available online" he goes "I guess I'll just take it she's already asking for our address" and I say a little louder now so she can hear us "no just tell her if you want it or not first before she orders it" the pink haired cashier sighed again. My husband just proceeds to give the info. Finally she says "here take a pic of my screen with your phone so you have a copy" pretty... ghetto and unprofessional don't we print receipts here? I don't know I just didn't like the cashiers immediate attitude or lack of hospitality when it's her job to do everything we asked for and she seemed to have annoyance all over her face from the start. Different to the floor employee that helped us with pricing. Hope they retrain her or something. She acts as if she doesn't wana work there cause immediately when we were done she says to her coworker "can you watch here I'm going to the bathroom." I haven't shopped in Express in years, but used to really like their clothes, so I recently stopped in to check out this location. The first thing I noticed is that they have gotten extremely pricey. I don't remember this store being so expensive. They have a really nice selection of both women's and men's clothes and accessories. I purchased a blouse and a ring. I absolutely adore the ring! I've never seen anything quite like it. The blouse, however, I returned a couple of days later. It was faux leather and had complicated washing/care instructions that immediately turned me off. The cashier that helped me with the return was very pleasant and helpful. I'd definitely stop in on occasion to look around, but probably wouldn't make any purchases unless they're having a significant sale. read more

My all time favorite shopping brand. Quality with Style! I have shopped mostly in two stores- Steinway and Bayterrace. Both are equally good. However, Bay Terrace is better in terms of shopping experience. The customer service is wonderful there. People are always helpful and ask when you step in if need any help. It's a welcoming atmosphere. Store is very clean and organized. Lines are not long. Steinway store is welcoming, organized and clean but the customer service is slow. Not all cash registers are open. However, they manage with having one rep at the door to take billing. Online is the best!! Always on time and perfect. read more

Haven't shopped at Express sinx high school and I have been on the look out for the perfect fitting suit. Figured I give it the old college try at Express. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by no one, but was confronted by a lovely customer service rep. while I was trying on a suit. She gave her opinion and I gave mine. I was very happy with what I was wearing, but the price! $228.00 for the jacket and $98.00 for the pants?! Way out of my range, BUT both the floor manager and the fitting room rep. got the price down significantly before my purchase. I walked out of there was a smile and a great looking suit. Also, they always have great sales. Looking forward to heading back soon for some fresh shorts for the summer. read more

I don't know how but this Express has amazing customer service. Every single time I've been here, I've been greeted promptly and in a friendly manner. There have been several occasions where either the bf or I need assistance and this store really goes all out to help the customers. I'm not sure why this is so hard to come by now, but the lovely employees here always seem genuine when trying to help. They always have a great attitude, and sincerely apologize even if they're not at fault. I normally hate going to retail stores because they're usually messy or the employees are unnecessarily rude and it of line (Bay Terrace Express, what's up?) but shopping at this Express is actually a pleasant. Even their clearance section is neat and easy to flip through. As a retail store, they are clean & organized and the employees are all superstars... so this is really as good as it gets. I a five minute walking from a different Express store and not far from another one with free parking, but I still prefer coming here. read more

This store seems to always have a sale going! I only come in every once in a while because they don't carry petite sizes. The store is usually organized and they seem to have a good selection of both men and women's clothing. All of the workers here really go out their way to help you. If you can't find something they go out of their way to help. Make sure you sign up for the mailing list so you know when their having a sale. read more

Don't waste your time calling! I'm in shock right now w the customer service I received from the queens store locations. I called to get an item check at QCM. I waited 10 mins. Not in stock - fine. I called Steinway and I waited for 20 mins! I finally had to call back, and was put on hold another 5 mins I explained I was waiting for 20 mins and was met with no apology. I asked to speak to the MOD I was told to call back in an hour. She looked up the item and it was not in stock. I asked for the MOD name and was told it was Arwol and when i asked her name, she hung up on me! I genuinely believe they put customer on hold and don't even check stock, and says it's not in stock. I was walking around aimlessly looking for something and he suggested this dress with a cute white jean jacket and it was perfect ! Horrible experience. I was sent to the front of the store to pay. Tell me why it took me ~15-20 min. to pay when there was only 1 person in front of me with 2 items and another person who was in the midst of paying. The cashier obviously didn't know how to use the hand checkout device and kept calling her manager for assistance. The manager should have been smart enough to stay and provide the employee with actual training on how to use the device instead of leaving her and having to return every 2 seconds. The manager wasn't busy at all, was conversing with other employees on how their day was. It was a complete waste of time, they don't have much of a selection, no wonder brick and mortar stores are closing.. read more

Disclaimer: I worked here for a few months, so I might be a little biased, but I'm going to be as objective as possible. Compared to other Express locations in NYC (especially the Queens Center Mall location), this one is so much friendlier, organized, and inviting. Before I was an employee who spent way too much money on clothes here, I was a customer who spent way too much money on clothes here--hence why I picked it when looking for a second job. The store is attractive, bright, and easy to navigate. It's also pretty small, so they might not have absolutely everything that the larger ones in the city have, but for the most part they are well-stocked. They just got the lingerie in a few months ago, by the way, and it's fantastic. The employees are friendly and helpful, especially compared to other locations where you can walk in, browse for a good hour, and not even have one associate look your way, even if you need help. And don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it! Express employees don't work on commission, so you don't have to worry about them becoming attached at the hip as you continue to shop. The biggest weak point is the cleanliness of the store. The fitting rooms tend to have huge dust balls in the corners, and if you ever ran your finger along any of the bottom shelves, it would come up fuzzy and gray. Both as an employee and as a customer, the Express credit card was a thorn in my side. They are huge on pushing the card as a way to get customers to come back in and shop even when they can't afford it. So yes, the employees may annoyingly ask you over and over if you're sure you don't want to save 15% (even when you will surely end up paying that back plus more in interest if you aren't careful), but it's because they are docked hours and/or called out by management if they don't sign enough people up. Here's an "insider" tip: tell them you already have an Express card but you don't want to use it right now. There is really not much they can say to that! DO however, add yourself to their email and/or mailing list. The coupons you will get can be really amazing...$30 off $75- WHAT! Another tip- they don't have a mens' section here (as I've sypathetically informed many a confused-looking dude), so head to Queens Center if that's what you're looking for! read more

I don't know what it is about this particular Express, but they have the best service! I am always greeted by every employee that I pass and, if I need help, they're more than willing to assist with a smile. They make recommendations and help you find sizes. Also, I like that they follow up with you while in the fitting room to see how it fits and if you need another size. One complaint, however, is about the check-out wait. Each time I've been here, there is a wait caused by the fact that they always have only one person open as a cashier! I understand if there's only 1 or 2 people on line, but once you see a line building, you need to get an additional cashier to open up. It's simple and I think, with this minor fix, the service here will be 5 stars. As far as the store itself, it's usually pretty neat and they have many sizes in stock. They recently completely remodeled this store and added an Express Men, and it deserves a mention because the store is gorgeous now, and at least three times as big as it was, or at least feels that way. Way more merchandise and huge sale rack, which I love. Everyone that works here is really friendly but without being the hovering over your shoulder type of sales associate, which, thank god. I prefer to browse in peace. The only reason I'm giving it three stars is because on two different occasions now I've been waiting in line and finally given up, put my stuff back and left because check out is SO slow and lines are always rather long. Maybe they're still adjusting to the new set up and have more customers or something, but man. It's annoying. read more

I only come here b/c I live in the area. They're totally well stocked with merchandise & the associates are helpful....but what kills all of that is the fact that there is ALWAYS only ONE register open. On several occasions I've waited in line for 30min, not b/c it was exceptionally busy. But b/c there was only one cashier handling a line that wraps around their accessory section & spills into the denim/sale area. Hire more cashiers or train your current associates. read more

I gotta say, I hadn't been here in years and they have made it a lot better. So props for that. However, it is just so crazy busy... I came across two very helpful store associates, but the rest were pretty rude and not helping with the ENORMOUS line that was only growing by the minute the last time I was there. They were standing around making jokes and saying they were on lunch before trying to pitch in and help... awesome. Meanwhile, cut to me... waiting in line for 15 minutes, with screaming babies all around. If I didn't have to return something, I would have thrown my new clothes down and left and they would have lost a customer. I'd say its better than nothing, because they have a pretty decent selection and I needed a couple of shirts... but take a deep breath for the frustration that may await you. read more

This place is horrible; I only shop at this location out of convenience as I live in the neighborhood. The music is too loud, the employees are rude, and it is small so that means you are likely to not find what u want in the size you want.. In fact, the last time I went I asked the girl if there were more sizes for denim in the back (after going with my friend who was awarded a size from the back a week before). She told me "no" and walked away! Granted it was early January and they might have been in a bad mood but I REALLY needed those specific jeans for that night. I ended up getting them a size too big and wasted $80 because I wore them once. Also, no men's section which is weird. They are now closed for whatever reason which is also hugely inconvenient.. Seriously love this store in general but also this one in particular.. The buyer is on point let me tell you bc I've gone to other express stores and they don't have offer as much as this store does.. I'm pretty sure a decent amount of my wardrobe is from here from leggings (leather and yoga) to coats, gloves, fur vests and sweats! Everything is always on sale which is awesome and if not then become an A list member with signing up for their credit card, everything you spend you gain points which add up to money off of next purchases (I've had up to $50 rewards).. The staff is always a huge help ! They will sift thru the stuff in the back if you don't see your size on the floor and they almost always have it which is freakin awesome. I always leave happy.. Yea people we get it the lines are sometimes long lol... But how do you expect them not to be when they have all these sales going on and a selection of clothes appropriate for any and every occasion ..plus compared to the other stores on steinway (which suck) why wouldn't this store always have lines lol.. I absolutely love this store! I always end up leaving with multiple items even when I say I'm just gonna buy one shirt or one pair of jeans haha I have a curvy body and it is an absolute pain in the ass for me to find jeans that fit my every curve, but Express always has jeans that fit me perfectly! I sound like an advertisement lol But its so true! Granted, their jeans are very expensive lol But they last, and I'm willing to pay a lot for a pair that is going to make me look good. So make sure you have those credit cards handy at an Express. I usually end up finding some good shirts too. They are nice and fitted and never look crappy or baggy on me in the wrong places. I also signed up for the points card and I am on their mailing list so if you spend a certain amount of money you get a large amount of money taken off the bill. The other day I went and spent 200 bucks, and a special coupon I had got me 75 bucks off- so it really is a good deal! I really do like this location in particular as well. The staff is always so helpful. Every time I go, they come right over asking if you need help and assist you in picking out exactly what you are looking for. Never had any rude sales people here ever. They also move the lines fast at the registers. Nothing but helpful! This location has men's and women's clothing. I am male, so this review is specifically about "Express For Men" in Astoria, New York. This is a well-run store and credit for this goes to it's employees who -- as far as I'm concerned -- have pride in their work and in their store. It shows. The store is always clean, well organized and fairly well stocked. And where items (or sizes) may not be available in the store, check-out personnel are always ready to assist you with finding what you want online and ordering it for you. The fitting room personnel are always very helpful, offering to find alternative sizes if you need them and, if you ask, offering gentle advice about how something may or may not fit you, as well as how you might coordinate your selection with a complementary item. This is my first time at this location and the staff here are very welcoming and helpful. I was greeted when I came in. I came to return/exchange a skort I ordered online because it was too small. I spent an hour looking around and found many things I loved but I REALLY just wanted this skirt in the next size up. I went to the cashier and told her my situation. She offered to check if it's available in their store and if not, she would order the right size for me online to have it shipped to my house (free shipping). They didn't have it in store so she took around 5-7 minutes to refund my skort on a gift card and place an order for me online. I understand this process takes a while because I've worked retail before. After we finished she told me to have a good day and when I left, an employee close to the entrance told me to have a nice day. People here are so nice and this is one of the companies I wish to work for as a sales associate. If their store is ever hiring (or any other location in Queens), I'd definitely apply. Decent sized express store. Employees always are available to help. I've needed a few sizes pulled out from the back room and never had an issue with that. The layout of the store is open and easy to navigate even with a stroller in tow. The only negative would be the check out line. I stopped by most recently on my lunch break and grabbed a dress and one cashier was checking people out and it took me about 15 minutes from the time I got on line with only about three customers in the entire store. More cashiers or cashiers available to hop on the register would make this store even better. read more

with time to waste before dinner at gyro world i made a trip to express clothing on steinway in astoria and stuff is not bad overall. before walking inside i wonder if i should buy anything for the ladies in my family or just purchase something for just me or maybe nothing if i dont fancy anything . wow its really spacious inside with a wide selection of ladies clothing and acessories with a decent selection of men stuff. i must of went over every inch of the place rack to rack , etc and nothing really grabbed my fancy but the clothing style is modern and prices tend to run from fair to a bit expensive so its wise to visit during major sales or with online coupons which range from 20 percent off and more . the gals who work here are helpful and asked if i needed help more then a few times .i finally decided on a nice summer short sleeve shirt for me at a cost of 29.99 and a couple of novelty tee shirts which i will wear at home only , nothing for my ladies this time but i will be back in a few weeks as the end of summer sales heats up . overall express gets 4 stars on my yelp meter and i didnt even have to wait on line that long. read more

Just went to Express on Steinway street. I've been going there for many years only today then I have a very bad experience. One of their employees health me into a fitting room Ann then as I was in the dressing room a different employee rudely open the door without knocking. As I am getting ready to walk out the room separating the few clothes that I had I overheard her speaking on the walkie-talkie stating how all fitting rooms were full and she had people hanging out in them. I definitely do not think all fitting rooms were full I think she was having a very bad day. read more
