I applied for several positions and never heard back. I went to the interview, took the placement test & never heard back from anyone to get an update on a job. Melissa wasn't very helpful through out the interview. I went to Express as soon as I came on the island and I went on one interview within the week of meeting Elise and it's been almost two months since I heard back. I saw jobs on Craigslist that would be perfect for me, so I took it upon my self to email Elise about them and nothing. Even when I asked her about the interview I went on. NOTHING. ...it's baffling to read the negative reviews for Express Employment Professionals. I'm guessing that these 'yelpers' are the same folks who, when I went in for an interview, were wearing sweat pants, a t-shirt, slippahs, and without any regard that they were actually there to seek employment, charging their smart phones in the wall outlet to boot, seemingly busy with another personal agenda. Then there are the people that take their futures seriously, dressed in professional attire, having arrived On Time, and optimizing the mature mindset that Express Employment is not there to provide a 'hand out', but a 'hand up'. I'm sure that these people have maintained a full time job through Express' services while the others think that their entitlement is not being fulfilled, nor honored. Express Does Not Owe You Anything; they are a staffing agency that will vouch for you to an employer where you deem fit. If given an assignment, you are working on behalf of Express Employment Professionals. Why would they represent a disrespectful slob? Finding a job is a job in itself, but Express Employment Professionals perform much of the hard part for you; therefore, you must treat your encounters with an Express agent as though you were applying for an actual job - they do want the best for "you". After a couple of trial-and-error opportunities, Lindsey worked diligently to correspond me with bosses of companies that matched my qualifications and experience. I was also given advice from Elise on pointers in how to conduct myself when meeting with potential employers (i.e. what to wear, what to say and what not to say, etc.). I worked until my assignments were completed and they always followed through with another job prospect. Through Express I now work at a commercial real estate company that transitioned into a full time offer. Naturally, I accepted and have Express Employment Professionals to thank. It should be noted that after a few months of being a temp that the Senior Manager of Express, Reid, and Lindsey surprised me with a certificate of 'Employee Of The Month' by the recommendation of my current supervisor. Needless to say, I was appropriately embarrassed, but sincerely grateful. I was just doing my job. Point being: show up on time, be responsive, stay respectful, and have a positive attitude; Express Employment Professionals will do the rest. [It should also be noted that I have also been advised by Tini a few years back who was just as helpful and assiduous. Though another job opportunity presented itself outside of Express Employment Professionals at the time, Tini kept my profile active and it was an easy return when seeking employment with Lindsey.] read more

I interviewed well, tested (at/near 100%), shared great local/international references, with someone who didn't seem to know quite what to do to place me originally. Then someone who took over for that person, politely refused to submit me for a certain open position (not much of an assignment, mind you, just a little something to keep me busy) without a complete rewrite of my resume... but didn't know how really other than to instruct me to read a book on how to write resumes. Other agencies will remake the resume when they first input your details into their system. No drama. This firm attends all the job fairs, they try to find you. That strategy to gather a big base of temps probably pays off -- at least, for certain of their corporate clients, it seems. read more

Amanda had reached out to me first and it was within the day of me applying on the Express Employment app. A few days later, I got into contact with Marissa and she's been helping me throughout the process ever since. The lengths that she had gone through to find me a place of employment that I was comfortable being at was more than I could ever ask for. Her kind-hearted spirit makes me have hope in humanity (dramatic I know....but talk to her and you'll understand lol) and I never encountered a moment where she was negative or angry (does she even have an angry bone in her body? I decided to give this company a second chance which at this point seems like a huge mistake. Twice I was given work as a registered nurse and then cancelled at the last minute for no reason. I've been told there's plenty of work in all of the areas of Nursing and yet nothing seems to ever get set up. I cannot count the empty promises that have been made. There are multiple listings on Craigslist for available work and emails that go out with Promises of current wages and yet no follow-through. I've emailed several times with no answers and sent text messages to my recruiters with no answers or acknowledgments at all. I was told by Express they had called and emailed back which is completely inaccurate. I've received no follow-up from them in terms of any problems or lack of problems but either way it's professional to communicate at least something.... Not really sure how this company makes money if it is dependent upon contract workers picking up shifts. I would be happy to give them an additional opportunity if at least someone would find it important enough or professional enough to return a call.. that being said and nurses be forewarned there are several other companies to sign on with best of luck. read more

I am highly impressed with Express! They understood my limited availability due to me working full time. So they set up an interview when I was ready. These ladies are so organized and on point! They took the time to get to know me and my interests and skills. I was also given an assessment and Elise went over my results with me. My interview and orientation took about 2 hours. Amazing! Although that is longer than my past jobs, I really did feel like Express took the time to fully understand and take interest in my career goals. Within 2 weeks, I found my "forever" job! I didn't apply to this company, but received an email back in December 2015 from a job board site stating that the recruiter saw my resume and would like to interview me for a couple positions. I replied back expressing interest and didn't hear back for 2 weeks, granted it was around Christmas, so I sent another email following up stating that I'm interested in hearing about the positions if they were still vacant. Finally got an email back and set up a face-to-face interview the following week. The interview was cancelled morning of, but was able to conduct a phone interview. The recruiter then informed me that I would be a great fit for multiple positions depending on what I was interested in. We narrowed it down to 2 positions that she would submit me for pending a reference check. "If you can get me your references today, I can have my assistant reach out to them ASAP". My references were never contacted and I didn't hear back from the recruiter. I started my new job, and just felt like for the heck of it, let me try to reach out by email and see what she says regarding why she didn't following up. Low and behold, I received a response 3 WEEKS later. "Positions have been filed". Well duh! It's been 2 months!! Bottom line, I agree with the other candidates, don't waste your time with the recruiters here. Seems like they are on an interview quota. Their staff has done a great job to find me temporary work that can fit into my busy schedule. Most of the time the places that I start at want me to come on time but I'm not able to due to school. Whenever I call Criszalin or Tini for work they always return my call fast with the positions that they have open that fit what I am looking for. These guys are an extremely useful tool for anyone looking to find work and I have recommended them to multiple friends. I don't really understand how this place has gotten any negative reviews. Seems like some people are bitter because they haven't gotten a job immediately after being interviewed, but that's not guaranteed at any where you apply plus maybe your skill set doesn't match what positions they have available. read more

I applied at Express because I needed a job for the summer. The application is online so it was very convenient. The next day Tini called me asking me to come in for an interview. I interviewed at the Nimitz location and everyone in the office was very polite and professional. I took a couple of tests (typing, reading, excel, word) and before I knew it I was sitting in the interview with Tini. The interview was very informal (but in a good way!). I felt very comfortable and my nerves calmed down A LOT. Tini was very professional and asked me questions to help her figure out what I expected and I wanted out of a job. After the interview she informed me that she'll contact me letting me know if they'd hire me or not. A couple days later I receive a call informing me that not only did they want to hire me but they had a couple jobs already lined up. My first interview was with Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union and it went real well. By the ending of that very day Express called me to let me know that Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union wanted to hire me as a temp. I was able to start that coming Monday. After the first day of work Sonny from Express called me to check up on me and make sure everything at work was okay. That was really thoughtful of them. What amazed me was the shortness of time between applying to starting the job. I also loved how we got paid EVERY WEEK. Very bad service. I had Lindsay as my recruiter. I asked for a specific dollar amount and I was given low hourly wages. I went to an interview yet prior to the interview and on going job resumes being sent out from her, I asked for my wages and she says ok. Never listened to me apparently because I was sent to an interview and got the job but the amount was ridiculous. Like a slap in the face. I said it wasn't enough and she raises it one whole $1. I was extremely upset by her poor attitude for me asking. Try to say it's so great etc etc, you know the rest of the bs. I ended up getting another job and politely let her know. Lindsay decides to (perhaps it's there protocol) to send me a, "I'm disappointed letter due to lack of communication and basically for not accepting job and we can no longer assist you". I responded with my own disappointments to her such as, not listening and for her rude letter, for wanting to line her own pockets and of course the company's because they are nice to you to get you a job but then not professional when you don't accept. Believe me, you can get the money that you are worth and need. So if they don't give it to you, don't lower yourself to them and know you can get better and do better without the disappointment and being upset. Get what you are worth! read more

Is there a way to give them a negative star? Reading some of the other reviews below, I see that I am not alone. Same thing: I replied to an employment ad for a position and was contacted for an interview. I went in on a Friday and filled out the on-line information. Then I spent about an hour with Marissa Wong answering all her questions and filling in the blanks. After the two-hour process, she told me she would consult with another "professional" on Monday and contact me. I never heard from her - ever. I sent 3 e-mails over the following six weeks, including a cc to her coworker. Nothing. It has been 8 weeks. In the meantime, I was able to find employment on my own. Even if there is no compatibility with open positions, candidates deserve a response to their e-mails. If nothing else, just to let them know. I now find the video they play in their office with testimonials that pontificate about how great they are a huge joke! So unprofessional and a complete waste of time! read more
