Agents did not follow up with the applicant and confronted me with an unprofessional attitude when I brought up my concerns.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you end up using Michelle, it will ruin all other agencies for you…read more I am a professional career nanny. I have over seven years of nannying experience, five years of teaching experience, and more. I have a B/S in childhood development as well as my MAT. When I began my search for a nanny-family in LA, I did my due diligence by shopping around looking at multiple agencies. I found that Michelle had the TOP RATED AGENCY ON MULTIPLE SITES and wanted to take a closer look. I read through every. single. review. I thought to myself, "Really? Every single person had a positive experience with this agency? That's just not statistically possible if she's really working with this many people..." I decided to set up a meeting. I drove to her office where we met to discuss particulars (what I'm looking for, what families are in the market for a nanny right now, what ages/salary/commute/hours I'm looking for) and the moment she opened the door and greeted me with a giant smile and her upbeat, positive attitude, I felt like just working with HER was my perfect placement! Once we started the process, Michelle was completely professional while also refreshingly honest and realistic in her suggestions. She really took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for and she only suggested me to families that she knew had the potential to be a "love match!" After looking at a few potential matches, Michelle called me to tell me that she had "found my family!" She said, "This is the one. Please go for an interview and see for yourself." So I did. This is the part of the review where I'm going to get annoyingly emotional. Not only did the family and I immediately "click," but Michelle had made sure that all of our stats were in alignment. The age range, schedule, amount of hours, commuting time, pay rate, expectations and needs happened to all align with what I was looking for. It was LITERALLY the PERFECT PLACEMENT!!!! Coincidence? I think not. Michelle is highly intelligent, professional, personable, understanding, diligent, experienced, communicative, and pleasantly charismatic and I owe my job satisfaction directly to her. Now that I think about it, maybe I should send over a bottle of wine. Thank you, Michelle, for just being so incredibly good at what you do. As I mentioned earlier, when I started this process, I read through every one of your (5 star) reviews and thought, "There's just no way every single review can be five stars..." and now here I am adding one more.

It seemed like I had landed a few dream jobs only for it to slip away from me. Really trying times. Then I met Michelle! This brings a smile to my face. Meeting with her felt like chatting with a friend. I realized after that this is her skill. She loves people and wants to represent both the families and the nannies. It was a slow period and she didn't have any job opportunities at the time when I signed up with her agency, the perfect placement. After being on the hunt for my top nanny job with a kind family for many months and it wasn't happening I was getting ready to move out of state. I mentioned to Michelle that I'm no longer looking for a position as it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. Michelle didn't give up on me. She called me with 2 opportunities. I went on both interviews and was called back to do a trial for the one that I wanted !! Yay !! Then Michelle negotiated some time off that I needed to take care of a health issue. The family was so wonderful they waited for me ! All I can say everything lined up perfectly. Michelle will always return your call in a timely manner and she always checks in to see how you're doing. I thank God I met Michelle !

ISeems like they've been closed for a year or more. Their Facebook is active, so maybe they closed…read morefor COVID for a while? In any case, this is a vital service and a city the size of Pasadena should really have a couple offices like this. I've used the Job Center a dozen times or so for various construction-related projects over approximately the past 6 years. Some observations: Good stuff: * Have never gotten a person who didn't work their butt off for a full day. I'm not a back-breaker, these guys (for my types of jobs they always assign men) are serious and most (not all) have had some level of experience with construction and residential labor. I've met some who were remarkably overqualified. * The office managers seem mostly fair and knowledgeable. They're like a taxi dispatcher, so I imagine there's some degree of just giving the job to the next person in line, but I think they do try to match your project with a person who has a compatible skill set. * Rates seem reasonable. More below. * They do not tether the people who participate. In other words, if you meet someone you love working with, and they you, you can exchange contacts and work directly together. * 100% of the pay to the employee stays with the employee. The Center does not take a dime as far as I can tell. Other observations: * If you don't show up early some days you might have slim pickings. I've done a couple projects where I told the manager that it's some hard digging and lifting rocks, etc... and they assign a dude who has to be at least 60. I can't complain because see my comment above. But I do worry a bit and a couple times have taken it easy on the guys. But not because they were slow or complained. Overall age at the Center does seem to trend higher than the pool of labor you'll find waiting near Throop Lumber, for example. * I also suspect that, if your job isn't what some of the guys are looking for, they'll pass, and the low fellow on the pole gets stuck with the shovel. Some of this conversation is done out loud as the dispatcher talks in Spanish to the guys in the waiting area. I don't know what politics are involved, but do sense that there are some at play. * Almost everyone is primarily Spanish speaking that I've worked with. In the days of Google Translate, that's not a problem. And over half of the people I've worked with speak some English, several with complete fluency. * This next one isn't my observation, but was told to me by a person I've employed a couple times in the past for similar work. That person is an African American man and he was put off by the Center because the times he tried to wait there for work it felt to him like he was being passed over. Guys who were waiting for less time got good jobs ahead of him. I can't verify that, but apparently thought it was worth sharing. * Over the years I've used the Center, the wages seemed consistent until they didn't. I think it was around '18 when I noticed the quotes becoming odd and going a bit haywire... This was noticeable in part because I think prior to that their rates were generally too low. Like I seem to recall baseline being around $12 an hour for quite a while. I could be misremembering, but it was low, too low. And I rounded up to $15 or $20 depending on the work. But then it seemed like for a spell every time I went in they raised the rate by a couple bucks. It wasn't the hourly that was off-putting so much as the inconsistency and lack of communication as to why the rate had changed in the last seven days (again.) At one point I got kind of frustrated and began to hire the lumberyard guys. But hopefully they are at a stable rate again and communicate it better to clients -- that's the other thing, it was for a while like they were testing the waters and it just felt shady. Maybe it was just the one manager, but I felt like they were targeting the gullible guy (me.) Conclusion: The Job Center is a vital part of the community and deserves our support. From the POV of the client it could be better in several ways: Clearer communication of services and rates, more consistent and professional dispatchers, higher wages overall for workers, better advertising in the community, better followup on experiences with the possible goal of long-term employment for workers who might want it, more locations, more inclusive management of labor pool. If you're reading this, you're almost certainly a prospective client, not a worker, so you're wondering if you should trust this service. The answer from my experience is an unqualified, Yes. But also in my experience, from the stories I've heard from workers from the Center, it's the labor who is much more likely to get ripped off by the employers. The Job Center gives some structure and protection and comfort to people who have almost no one looking out for their interests. So keep that in mind as you're getting your projects done and be fair and pay well.

Also, yes. AND -- she did SO MUCH MORE. Dawn's holistic approach to guiding me through this turning point in my career helped me actually look at my needs and values, and examine what I really wanted in my life. When I say "holistic," I mean she encouraged me to look at so many different aspects of my life and gave me the tools and the positive support I needed to go beyond just the job search. I made changes in my life I wasn't able to make on my own, even with my therapist's help. Dawn somehow is able to be both super supportive and incredibly efficient, helping me create an actual, actionable 90 day plan for how to move forward. I went into this process knowing I wanted to do "something different" and now I have a much stronger sense of who I am, and that's so much bigger than just a new job.
