I asked one of their Reps if they repair Panasonic FZ300's and he wasn't sure, so he asked someone older who was repairing something in the back. With somewhat of an annoyed tone and unwilling to provide more info he shouted: "we don't repair Panasonic". I found it interesting that they don't repair Panasonics, yet they do sell them here. Anyway, I asked the guy if he could please provide me with a quote for my mint condition OM Systems OM1 as I'm considering selling, sounds like he didn't believe me that it was in mint condition (less than 200 pictures taken and purchased it 2 months ago, have my receipt of it as well) so he said that I would have to bring the camera. He couldn't even give me a price range. He also told me that my Point and Shoot Sony H-20 has a bigger sensor than my OM Systems OM1, which is ridiculous. All of that is fantastic, but here's the best part: I'd accidentally left one of my own microphones with them when I dropped off their gear. The next day I flew home to California. My gear is across the nation, and I'm helpless. But these guys saved me. They wrote me, initially notifying me that I'd left a piece of my gear with them, and then proceeded to send it back to my home, free of charge, no questions asked. I was blown away. I have had darkroom experience in the past, but my boyfriend was a complete newbie. As a resident of Reston (small district #5), the 4-session course was only $40 and included all chemicals and 4 additional hours of darkroom time. We had to purchase our own paper, film sleeves and provide our own cameras and film. The class was a great introduction to darkroom techniques, from developing your film, making/developing prints, and how to improve your final print. It did not, however, include instruction on proper exposure of your film or field techniques (though the RCC periodically offers such courses separately). The instructor, Sandra, was a sweetheart and did a fantastic job getting everyone started. I do have to warn all of you digital camera converts... you can only take 24-36 shots on a single roll of film... so point and shoot with care!!!! As for the lab, it's a great secret in Reston... Although tiny and beginning to show its age, it has everything you need to develop and print your BW and Color negatives. The Open Lab has hours on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (Color processing is not offered every day)... check out the website for an exact schedule. You must call ahead to make a reservation to ensure that Sandra is around and to make sure that it doesn't get too crowded. I've never had a problem reserving a spot for the same day. So here's what earned the lab a 5-star rating in my book... 4 hours at the open lab will only set you back $7!!!! That's less than a breakfast at starbucks!!!! Do note that if you don't live or work in small district #5 (Reston), the fees are a little more... $10. Still not bad!!! Happy printing!

Needless to say his film photography was stunning. Two of our friends hired Rick in the following years. When Rick transitioned to digital photography he gave his clients the opportunity to acquire the negatives. In 2004 another dear friend hired Rick--I was a bridesmaid and my oldest daughter was a flower girl. Seeing Rick's digital work made we wish I could do a redo on my own wedding to get more of his amazing photos. He was kind enough to take a set of photos of myself and my daughters in the church. In 2015 my husband's brother planned his wedding and of course hiring Rick was a no brainer. As he works, Rick is always quietly looking for the "moment" and his photos of their engagement and wedding are full of artistry and special memories.
