I emailed and called Barbara, she did not reply/return calls. I had to physically go to the office to get a response, which was her sitting behind a desk in a separate room and attempting to yell to me she did the taxes right, the IRS must be wrong. She said the First Time Homebuyer Credit from 2008 was waived by the government and I don't need to pay it at all - WRONG! I have finally gotten through to the IRS by phone now on June 4 and have confirmed Barbara Glanz did my taxes incorrectly. Why did I pay $225 to have my taxes done by a professional, if she does not know the correct tax laws? If it weren't for my own research after the letter arrived, I'd be doing something illegal thanks to Barbara Glanz. She refuses to refund the money we paid her and refuses to research the laws she claims to know. This should stand as a huge warning to anyone looking into a new tax accountant. Glanz & Associates is NOT the business for you if you want your taxes handled correctly. I am filing a BBB claim once a new IRS letter confirming the taxes were done wrong is sent to me shortly, so that I have paper evidence for the claim.

I wanted to express how badly Roberto treated me during this tax filing. I was a customer of his…read morefor many years. I recently began asking questions because I had done some research on filing under a Schedule C instead of Schedule E. I'm learning everyday, so I assumed I could ask my tax professional for guidance. Instead, Roberto discouraged me indicating there were no benefits or reason for filing as a Schedule C. I sent him documentation which made sense to file as Schedule C. He reluctantly proceeded processing them. I had more questions, but then he wrote to me stating, "You are too much work for me.. I won't file your taxes. Go find a new accountant." Just like that. After being a customer for so many years this is how he treated me. This was not the first time he was unprofessional, by the way. The previous year, I had started asking questions when he completed the filings; his response to me was, "I get a sense that you are trying to avoid paying me." I confronted him about his lack of professionalism then since I had never failed to pay him in the past. Why I decided to write this review is because I've learned so much from my new accountant. She indeed confirmed that I absolutely should be filing as a Schedule C and explained several benefits and reasons behind this. She also confirmed that as a client, I should ALWAYS ask questions and not blindly allow an accountant to file without knowing what they are doing. It's important to ask questions because ultimately the client has to answer to the IRS. I was so grateful to have found a professional moving forward who truly knows accounting tax laws and also respects you as a client. Roberto in the end proofed he doesn't know what he is doing. He prefers to take the "easy rode, don't ask questions" approach. He disrespects you and makes you feel as if you are wrong for wanting to know more. This is not the kind of accountant who deserves business as he is ungrateful and very unprofessional.

The gentleman I spoke to was generous with his time. He listened to my tax problem and gave me a referral to someone else. Said he is trying to get yelp listing removed.

IRS wasn't helpful at all and I threw my hands up. The state just accepted the false returns and out of the blue started seizing my pay checks. The guys at Heartland Tax were so kind and helpful. They took care of the ID theft paperwork with the IRS and got the state to stop taking my checks. They acted quickly, getting this done in just a couple of days. They also prepared the tax returns I owed and got them accepted by the IRS and state. It turns out that I was owed tax refunds for most of the years. Heartland kept after the state and I just got all of the money back which was taken from my checks. Now I'm waiting on the IRS to issue my refunds for the last couple of years. These guys are real professionals. They prepared my complicated tax returns, asked a ton of questions I hadn't thought of, and saved me more money then I imagined. Their fees are reasonable, especially given how much work they did. Bob and Tim were very knowledgeable and always responsive to my calls and emails.

Mr. Swanson completed taxes for my hunsband & I jointly as well as my Mom. He was complete in days and we received a prompt refund. He was admittedly astounded that my former accountant, who was in his late 80's, had been using the paper method as opposed to filing online. I felt the price was fair: $250.00 per filing (we had a total of 2 filings). I had forgotten to bring my real estate tax bill, and Mr. Swanson was able to retreive online. He also investigated the new windows we had installed to ensure they met the qualifications for a tax credit. Very professional yet comfortable to talk with. Will be using his services again this year.
