Andy was great to help me be successful with my stain glass project! A whole new experience. Andy mady it fun and went out of his way to help everyone in the class finish their project. It was a good experience. I want to take more classes and try different projects!

Learning how to do stained glass has long been on my bucket list. Andy was a great teacher and helped me to gain confidence in completing my first work in this art form! From learning to cut glass, to choosing a pattern and glass, all the way to the completion of the piece, Andy was such a support for my learning. He wouldn't sell anything he wouldn't use himself, and the cost of class and materials was kept as low as possible without sacrificing quality. I have already recommended Expressions to many friends, and look forward to taking more classes!

Wife and I took copper foil beginning stained glass class and loved it. Very patient teacher and instructor. Highly recommended.

My first project! It came out way better than I ever thought.

She really needed a private class that could work with her schedule. I was so frustrated that I did not come back for the last two classes. I went to pick up my projects and could not find one of them. No explanation just gone. When teaching a class I have found it works best when everyone is working on the SAME project, and the instructor has examples in stages to show and tell them while doing a walk around checking in with students while the class is working on the SAME project/item. This was not the case everyone was all over the place and there really was no organization to the class plus we did not follow what was stated in the class notes. I feel it was poorly organized, lack of instruction and follow-through. Rebecca was our instructor, she is a kind and thoughtful person who is very knowledgeable, and I think if she changed a few things she could make the classes fantastic. This was a beginner's class, so I sincerely feel they need to be more structured and supervised (walkaround). I would like to note that my mother, husband and I all took the class, and this sentiment was felt by all. To be truthful, due to my experience with this first class I will not be taking another class, sorry but that is how I feel. I took this class to gain some rudimentary techniques, relax, and spend some time with family but instead left with two classes to go due to anxiety and learning NOT MUCH to NOTHING! I am not someone who gives up easily but I felt the frustration and anxiety simply was NOT worth the gain or lack there of.

I recently did a "play with clay" class with a girlfriend. It was hosted at the Dodge location in…read morean old bus. The bus is cool! FYI- the bus only holds two guests at a time. It's equipped with two wheels, countertops for the clay, and a small sink for washing. The class is described as an "opportunity to try the potter's wheel with one hour of instruction at our Dodge Studio. It includes 2 hours of Instructed Wheel time and we provide clay, aprons, and tools. You can do this as a fun experience or choose to save pots as a memento. ($5 per piece)." For some constructive feedback- the description or confirmation information should include some further details like recommended attire (which might not be super obvious to everyone), that the 2 hours you pay for also include time for you to clean the bus, like everything- the wheel, water vessels, tools, surfaces, etc. Clay can get messy and we were not aware of the clean up rules until the very end! Informing people in advance is not that hard. Just by including a tidbit about how the co-op operates, their water saving efforts, etc, would set everyone up for clear expectations. For the record, I absolutely agree that a co-op is only as functional as the folks who are partaking in it and I am all for being part of a the full process and respecting it. Neither of us had tried wheel throwing before and it's actually a lot to process and apply in a 2 hour period. Wheel throwing requires lot's of time and patience. Our instructor Eva, demonstrated for about an hour and touched on a bunch of different steps before handing over the wheels to us, and hanging for a bit to guide us through our first attempts. We felt an overall vibe of impatience from our instructor. Questions were met with a tone of "I already told you" or "it's posted on the wall." Another suggestion is to consider hanging some visuals at the front of the bus with the steps in the process. That way, when students are left independently, they can reference them as little reminders, because it's not easy to remember them all at once. We also we very unclear as to whether or not we were limited to the two clay pieces we started the class with, which turns out, we could have pulled more clay from the bag. Again, another opportunity for the co-op and instructors to prep their students/customers for a more seamless experience. How about prep 4 balls per person and see if they even use them all? The clay gets reused anyway. Leaving us there to wonder wasn't ideal. It took several weeks to hear back from them for a pick up notice on our items. We each fired/glazed one. I was prepared to not even get my item after so much time passed. There's room for improvement and it all comes down to information and communication. Would I do this class again? Maybe and perhaps try a different instructor. Overall, if you're looking to try something new and clay is on your mind, I think this is fun option. It was $120 for the class, plus $5 per item we fired and glazed, so not bad.

So I signed up for wheel throwing and hand building classes. These classes are very popular and they fill up quickly. 8 week classes where you come in once a week for 2 hours cost 155.00. You will also have to pay for clay and tools. The instructor was very knowledgeable, however, I feel like I could have learned more. Most of the students in my class had previous experience and did not need as much attention. I want to sign up for another class and maybe I will get much better at it. Overall this was a great experience!

I called to ask whether they had the materials that I need for class. The message on the voicemail is not professional. I thought it was someone's residence, and the voice mailbox was full. I decided to just go and check it out. I discovered after I arrived that the owner had just passed away. There was a wait because the woman working at the counter (I believe it is the late owner's wife) didn't know what she was doing. I hope she is going to sell the business because she was stressed out and unprepared. Unfortunately, the store was out of 1/2 the items I needed for my class. I was about to pay for the few items they had and I told the woman that I was happy that students were offered the discount. The woman replied "No. My husband didn't do that". I calmly said that I was disappointed and would go somewhere else. She snidely remarked that that the discount would have only been around $3, so why didn't her business pick it up? I decided to buy the items. After she rang up my credit card she wasn't able to provide a receipt because the tape ran out. She didn't know where the tape was and said that I would have to wait for her staff member to replace it because he was with a customer. I told her I had to go so I wanted her to reverse the charges. She told me that I needed to calm down! No potential customer should have to deal with that kind of abuse. Posner's Art Store is so much better. Two people welcomed me. The store has a kit with everything I needed and I was out within 5 minutes!
