BUT the owner made it right and wrote us a personal note and made sure we received the special painted items. This time we are shipping our items again because we are only here for 2.5 days and they need about a week to glaze your items. Employees: Toby and Alyssa are amazing!!!! They helped us so much and with such cheer! What a fun experience! Thank you Color Me Mine for being a special part of our lives! We painted 7 items and spent a pretty penny. Studio fee separate. BUT, you don't even have to stand up to get your own paint! Worth it!

I do feel like they could do a better job explaining as they don't explain the random sponge on your table and they also do not walk around to see when you need to refills as we had to call them every time to get refills, which at times felt like they were bothered by. Anyway, we got there when it opened at 11am on a Saturday and within 40 minutes it really started filling up. They even had to turn away some people so I would definitely suggest making reservations when you want to go. I wish the colors were more expansive, however they have enough to get the job done. The colors look very different painting than they do when they dry so you have to just take their word for it when they say it appears as a different color once completed! Very cute, artistic and creative spot !

The experience was great from the moment I walked through the door. They directed me to the pottery wall to pick out the item I wanted to craft and then led us to our reserved table. It was super easy making and appt online to reserve a time and table. Once we picked out our pottery they allowed us to pick out our idea and colors and get situated and then came over and did a paint talk to guide us on making the best paint pottery. They gave recommendations on colors and styles and also talked to us about layers. They even helped us print our ideas off and taught us how to trace our design onto the plate. After we were done it only took 3 days for the firing of the kiln and then we were able to pick up our items. They also hold them for 3 weeks so you don't have to rush. Big Shout Out to Brittany at the Queen Creek location - her customer service went above and beyond when she brought my items to my car so I didn't have to wake my sleeping baby to pick up. Thank you again!

Our pieces turned out pretty good as first timers, but I will say we were here for a couple of hours lol didn't realize painting pottery would take so much time. But we enjoyed it! This wasn't just us, several people in our class had the same issue, and they had to call the owner to sort everything out before we could start. They also mentioned that we could bring our own drinks, which sounded great, but I wouldn't recommend it for the wheel-throwing class. We didn't open our wine as no cups were provided but there was also no time during the class to drink it. That said, our instructor, Callum, was amazing! Truly hands-on, patient, and made sure everyone left with a piece they were proud of, whether they chose to keep it or not. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend this specific class for out-of-towners. If you want to keep your piece, the process takes about a month. First firing, then returning to paint, then a second firing. You also pay separately for any pieces you choose to keep and paint. Our class was $35 per person, and it's $20 per piece for firing if you plan to come back and paint it. It's a commitment, but also two fun experiences if you're local or don't mind returning. Overall, I'm taking off one star due to our specific experience with their wheel throwing activity, but I still think the concept of this place is great, and I look forward to coming back to paint my piece as well as to try a different activity!

I take moments to admire things every time that I pass; I only wish they had more natural skulls. Believe it or not, we visited Arizona many years before we moved here, and The Happy Suguaro played a key factor in deciding to move here; it just captured the spirit and magic of the land so well. So, never think that an establishment is mere retail...it can be a whole lot more. Come here. Get inspired. And dream. Under desert skies...

The store has broad selection of seasonal and year-round wares that are colorful and interesting. All the above said, I have two issues with the place. First, the seasonal products like Talavera and pottery are priced higher than other merchants by 20% and I think that may be due to their location and the amount of inventory--my best advice is to wait for a sale. Second is the lack of a public restroom which I find ridiculous--they advertise on social media so their audience is broad, after a two-hour trip being told you can use a restroom at Trader Joe's is ridiculously inconvenient. Would I recommend The Happy Saguaro? Yes and no, if you're in the area or enroute to other destinations, it's worth a stop. If you're looking for something in particular you have to have, call and it can be worth the drive but realize you may be paying for it.
